34. Whatever makes you sleep at night.
* Liam Lockwood's POV *
Is this how it feels to wake up next to the person you love? To see her face the first thing in the morning is the best feeling that exists.
Suddenly her eyes flew open, looking right in mine. "Good morning Sleeping Beauty."
"I like Cinderella better."
"Yeah, I think you're right." I gave her a kiss on her forehead.
"I'm hungry. I'll go and make breakfast." She stoods up and I growled. She only shook her head in response. She put on her panties and took a look around the room. "Dammit, my shirt's still somewhere downstairs." That's right, we were in my room.
I stood up from the bed and walked to my closet. "Here, pick something out for yourself."
She walked over and scanned over the clothes. She pulled out a white botton up shirt. She threw it over her head and started to roll up the sleeves that were obviously to long for her arms. I walked closer and started to botton up her, no, my, shirt. She looked adorable in my clothes.
"Thanks." She bit her lip, before walking downstairs.
* Lora Croffard's POV *
I had some flapjacks in the pan and the air smelled like coffee.
Unexpectedly arms wraped around me from behind. I didn't have to guess who it was. Not that there would be anybody else here, but I could smell him. He now had sweatpants on. Still shirtless.
"Mmm, that looks good."
"I'm almost done." Shivers spread over my body from the breeze coming from somewhere.
"You're cold. Get something warm, I'll finish up here." I didn't protest and walked to the lounge, grabbing a blanket and throwing it over my shoulders, while walking back to the kitchen.
This time it was my turn to wrap my arms around his body, the blanket still around me.
Did I mention something about last night? Of course I didn't. Not that I won't anyways. That was the best night of my life. I've never feel that way in my life. Was this how it felt to be more than loved by someone? It was the first time I really felt like I could spend the rest of my life with him.
Maybe more than life. Yes, definitely more than life.
"Breakfast is almost severd."
"I'll make some coffee."
A while later we sat at the table with a pile of flapjacks in front of us. His hand reached out to mine, holding it. We ate in silence. It wasn't a awkward silence though.
After eating way too much there was a knock at the door. Liam and I looked up at eachother. Not because we are half naked, but because we know exactly who it is.
In the corner of the room I spotted our clothes in the corner. I sprinted towards it, chucking Liam's shirt to him. "Put on and open the door. I'll be upstairs."
"But-"
"No buts. And be nice. Try to figure things out between the two of you." I walked away, but I didn't go upstairs. I only stood around the corner. Just to make sure they don't kill eachother like they almost did a while back.
I hear the door open. "Hello Paps."
"Morning, Liam. Did I bother? I'll come back?"
"No. It's fine Paps. Come in."
"Where's that lovely girl of yours?"
"Um, she's upstairs getting ready." I heard them talking. Footsteps came closer and then faded.
"Have a seat. Do you want something to drink or something?" Liam asked.
"No thanks, son. I'll be quick. I actually wanted to talk to you."
"Oh okay." I could hear his voice cracking.
"I know we have a rough past and I wanted to say, I'm sorry Liam. I was a jerk back them, and I don't expect you to forgive me, but let me just say this. When your mother lost the baby I was very angry with her. I've been blaming her for all of it and I've reacted the wrong way. I went to the bar and I drank, alot. That's when I went to your house. And I don't blame the alcohol for my actions, because I still made that choice. Anyways, I've realized that in the process I didn't just loose that baby, I've lost the whole family. My family. Although your mother and sister spoke to me although the years, you didn't. And it breaks me that I know that my oldest and my favourite grandson hates me. But I don't blame you for it Liam. It was my fault. All of it. And you have all the right to hate me and to never want to speak to me again. I get it." I heard movement and I guessed that they stood up.
"No, Paps. Even though you've been a total jerk back than, you're still my grandfather. And I'll admit it, I did hate you so much, but somewhere along the road I did forgive you and maybe I was just too stubborn to admit it. I forgive you Paps. I'm tired of being mad, Paps. Come back to us. We miss you. Don't ever hide away again." Then there were silence and I tool it as my cue and go b upstairs.
*********
We were on our way home. It was heartbreaking to know that this magical weekend is over.
But in my heart I knew this is only the beginning of the rest of our lives.
"What are you so deep in thought about?" Liam asked with his eyes still on the road.
"I'm just thinking."
"About me, I hope."
"Maybe."
"So that's a yes?" He had a cocky smile on his face.
"Whatever makes you sleep at night." He let's out a unattractive snort. Not that his unattractive snort could make him look unattractive.
A while later we stopped in front of the mansion. None of us were planning to climb out the car.
"Thank you, Liam. I had an amazing time this weekend."
"I'm glad you did, because I did too. I've never found the farm that great until now. And now I think it's the greatest."
"I'm glad you cleared things out with Paps."
"Yeah, me to. But I wouldn't have done it if you didn't encourage me. Thank you for that." I pecked his cheek and opened the door.
I climbed out and, after getting my luggage which Liam helped me with, we walked up to the front door.
"Do you want to come in for something to drink?"
"As much as I want to, I need to get home. But I'll walk you in and greet the family before I head of."
"Okay." We walked in and found everybody in the lounge. Mary, Amber, Mark, Liam's mother and the kids are all there.
"Oh great! You guys are back!" Amber was the first one to notice us.
"Lora!" the kids ran up to me and I hugged them.
"Hey, guys. What's going on?"
"Come sit down for a sec, you two," Liam's mother said. "Amber has something to tell us."
Liam and I wento to sit on the couch across from Amber and Mark.
"What's going on?" Liam asked, with a concern look on his face.
"Okay, there's something we, Mark and I, need to tell you."
"Yeah, we've noticed. Get on with it now." He was adorable when he gets impatient. Really, Lora. Focus!
"Okay, well. I'm pregnant."
"Wait, what! Really?" Before I know it I was over the coffee table and onto Amber's lap kissing her. Okay, I'm overreacting and way to lazy for that. I walked very quickly AROUND the table and HUGGED Amber as tight as I could. It was really amazing news. "Congratulations, you two. You're going to be great parents. I know it."
After everyone said their congrats, we sat down and Mary called for juice. She said she would've brought champaign but since Amber's pregnant there's a no alcohol policy.
"One last thing." Amber said when we all had our glasses in our hands. "Brother, I want to ask you if you would be the baby's godfather?"
There was a blank expression on Liam's face, but then he smiled."I would be honored, thanks sis."
"And Lora, when you marry my brother, which you most definitely will, you can be the godmother. But since you are here now and already part of the family anyways, we want you to be the godmother." I almost choked on the juice. Is this for real?
Tears started to roll over my cheeks. "Really?"
"Yes."
"I'd love that."
