30. A big happy family.

* Lora Croffard's POV *

This is it, my first day at university. Well technically not, but it's the first time that I was going to university here.

I entered the big building and started walking down the hall. I couldn't help but smile.

"Lora!" I stopped in my tracks and turned around. I spotted Liam running through people, just before he stopped in front of me. "Good morning, Cinderella. You ready?"

I pecked his lips. "Morning. And yes, I've never been more ready in my life." We started walking again in the direction of the café.

We ordered some coffee and took a seat at one of the tables. "How's Chloe doing?"

"Her fever finally broked last night. Actually this morning, but she's doing much better already. Granny's taking care of her, she brought chicken soup and lots of movies." I laughed. "She is like the best grandmother ever!"

"Yes, she most surtainly is." For a moment there I've forgotten that they were actually family. They  had the same grandmother and I that I actually was talking about her. "I remember one time she came and took care of me when I was a kid. She also brought soup and lots and lots of cookies. We baked muffins that day and played video games. She's the best, just think about it. A granny playing video games with her grandson. And she was pretty good, I might add."

Once again I smiled. I must say, I can't picture that. I wish I had memories like that of my childhood. Or even somebody.

"You're lucky to have her. I actually don't have childhood memories with Grams until now. But last month she woke me one morning with a full breakfast and a mug filled with hot Milo with little marshmallows drifting at the top. It was very cute and sweet. She've also made herself some and she climbed in next to me and we just had fun." oh Grams... I missed her already. She's the only actual family I have. Oh yes, not really. I have River now. It's still hard to get use to. Which reminded me. "By the way. You won't believe what I walked into yesterday."

"Yeah?"

"Nash and River."

"What?  No way!"

"Yes, way. That's why he didn't answer his phone and the reason why he wasn't in his own bed."

"That ridiculous."

"Yes, but I think they are cute together don't you think?"

"Now that I actually give it some thought I think you're right."

"Will you come with me this weekend to visit my aunt? It's been forever since I was there. I was planning on going for a long time now, but it never took reality."

"Of course I will, it would be a honor, your majesty."

I slapped his arm slightly. "Don't be silly, Liam. Come on. First class starting soon." I stood up, but a strong hand pulled me back into my seat.

"Wait, I will only go with you if you'll come with me next weekend."

"Where to?"

"A family farm house. Only you and me."

"Of course I will, it would be a honor, your majesty." I mocked him.

"Hey! You're the only majesty!  Don't you dare to call me or anybody else that, understood?"

"Sir, yes sir!" I saluted, jokingly.

"Don't be silly, Lora. Come on."

**********

"It was amazing!  I've learned more in one class I did  the entire time that I was in London. The professor made so much sense and you should see all the notes I made. I never felt so positive in my life, this is what I want to do someday. This is what I've been dreaming of my whole life. This is it, I'm telling you." I was overwhelmed with excitement. It's true. I've never felt better. I was going to be a journalist someday.

"That's great, Lora. I'm happy for you." Liam was driving me home. He and the rest of the family was coming over for dinner tonight. I'm sure there's still a lot of preparation that needs to get finish before tonight.

"Yeah. What about your classes?"

"It was good. We've learned some financial methods and things. Nothing out of the ordinary."

* Liam Lockwood's POV *

"Hello, mother." I kissed her cheek and she smiled at me.

"Hello, darling. How was your day?" I took a seat at the kitchen counter, where she was busy preparing some kind of magical dish for tonight's family gathering.

"It was good thanks." I couldn't help but smiling like a idiot.

"Oh my goodness."

"What?"

"You're blooming, my dear. I can't remember the last time I saw you smiling like that. It's good to see you this happy. Lora's definitely doing you well."

"Oh, mother."

"No, Liam. I'm serious. Ever since she became part of our lives, you were on your own little cloud And that only got better and better, until the wedding. After the wedding you got depressed and lonely. I've never seen you cry since you were about seven years old and you cried. You've cried like a baby for days."

"You've cut yourself apart from everything and everyone. It was hard watching you like that. It became worse when you came back from London. I know you had the most amazing time there, but something went wrong."

"But then she came back a few days ago and look at you already. Again already on your own planet. Smiling like a idiot by yourself. There's a sparkle in your eyes and a blush on your cheeks. And it is a mothers fear to loose her son to another woman, but it already happend."

"Nobody can take the place you have in my heart, mom."

"I know dear. But I want you to know that I give you my blessing."

"What are you talking about?" I asked, confused.

"I think you are ready for the next level. You're obviously made for eachother and you love her and I'm sure she loves you back."

"Are you talking about marriage?"

"Yes."

I burst out into laughter. "Mom, no. We're way to young for getting that serious."

"Oh please. Your father and I got engaged at your age. Plus, who's age to tell if it's true love."

"Mom, she's just gotten back from London.  Let's not overwhelm her with big things like this. Let's give her some time to settle in first."

"So you do wanna marry her?"

"Yes, mother,  I do. Just not now."

"Oh, that's great! Just remember I want grandkids before I'm too old."

"Jeez, mom, bother Amber and Mark with that. They are much closer to that stage than Lora and I."

"Yeah, yeah. You're probably right. It's actually kind of scary you know. They can make an announcement any day now about a pregnancy. And then, then I'm not young anymore. Being a grandparent is a serious business, you know."  Once again I could only laugh at my over dramatic mother, blurting out the most random things.

"Mother, you're getting old, I'm getting old, we're all getting old and life goes on. Get over yourself. Before you know it we're all married, with kids and jobs and all of that shiz. Then there's one big happy family. Speaking of, we don't want the current big happy family not so happy, do we? We better get our move on."
