11. What's wrong with you?
* Liam Lockwood's POV *
"Liam!"
"What?!" I yelled back at my mother.
"What's up with you today?"
"Nothing."
"Liam." She gave me a warning look. "Sit." I did as my mother told me and took a seat in front of her. "Now, are you going to tell me why you stormed in here like a wildebeest, not saying a word and pacing up and down the hallway?"
"No."
"Liam. You have to talk about it. So it's now or never."
"I prefer never. Can I go now?" I stood up.
"Liam, it's almost ten at night. I don't want to get this information out of you with your father's dagger. Come on, you can trust me."
"It's Lora, Mother." Amper's voice cane from behind me. I jumped up and turned to her.
"What the hell, Amber! Nobody was supposed to know! Urg! Why the hell do you even care! Why am I freaking out over nothing?! She doesn't belong to me! I don't know, maybe because the idea of her being with someone like him is just- just-"
"Liam, calm down."
"I can't calm down! Don't tell me to calm down!" I threw a punch at the wall and shook my hand when I realised what I've done.
"Liam, come sit down. Take a deep breath, my baby. Amber go make some hot milk." My mom took me around my waist, leading me to the couch.
I sat down, grabbing my face in-between my hands, pulling my hair.
"Shh, it's okay. Take a deep breath. Inhale and exhale. That's more like it." It was silent for a few minutes. "So, are you going to tell me what happened?"
I sigh. "I went to Aunt Mary's to see Lora. just to see how things were going. Then she told me she was going on a date... With Chris. And I don't know... It just doesn't seem right."
"Liam, can I ask you a question?"
"Yeah, sure."
"Do you have feelings towards Lora?"
"No! I mean I care for her, but nothing more. There can't be something more."
"But you want more, don't you?"
"Well... Yes. Yes I do."
* Lora Croffard's POV *
My phone started ringing next to my head. Who calls you at six in the morning? A Saterday morning!
"Hello?" I said without looking at the contact.
"Hey, Lora. I'm sorry to bother you this early."
"Amber? No, it's fine. What's up?"
"I've heard you went on a date last night." Urgg thanks for reminding me.
"Yeah?"
"With Chris?"
"Yeah? Look Amber, if it isn't that important can I call you back later."
"No, sorry, I'm stalling. I just wanted to tell you that you should be careful."
"Careful of what?"
"Careful not to get yourself hurt or to hurt others along the way."
"Why would I hurt others?"
"I'm just giving you advise for someday if you'll need it."
"What is it with you people giving me warning signs, but not wanting to cut to the chase?!"
"We can't make your decisions for you, Lora. Anyways, that's all I wanted to tell you. See you around." She put the phone down and I sat up straight. What the hell are these people trying to tell me? Am I just stupid or blind? Maybe both.
After last night, I only had one hour of sleep. That was just before I got the call. This is so frustrating not knowing what people actually trying say.

"Lora." Alex called me aside. "I finally managed to figure out the inbreak. It was a middle-aged man. I've talked to a officer and he's doing some research on who he is. But the weird thing is that he came in through the one of the windows that was slightly open. He walked up to the living room and when he saw you he came closer, but when he he got close to you the cat jumped from the bookshelf and the man ran off. That's when he broke the windows to escape ever faster. It's a big mystery. Do you know anybody who could have a grudge against you?"
I'm shocked at the information. The intruder obviously wanted something from me. "No. I can't think of anyone. I don't really know that many people."
"Well, keep an eye out. If anything sound suspicious to you, report immediately to me."
"Thanks, Alex. I appreciate it, really. It's just so scary. I don't know what I've possibly could have done wrong."
"Don't worry, we'll try our best to keep you save. I promise."

"Hey, Nash. Chris is taking me and the kids to the fair. Do you want to come with?"
"No, I have some work to catch up. But thanks. Have fun. Oh and bring me some candyfloss, will you?"
"Okay. See you later." I ran back upstairs. "Chloe, Daniel! You ready?" I yelled through the house. "Bye, Mary. We're leaving now, if you need help with Angy or anything just give me a call."
"Don't worry so much about us, Lora. You guys have fun!"
"Bye!" we called and went outside to slide into Chris' car.
"Good morning," Chris said placing a kiss on my cheek. "You guys ready for some carnival fun?!" he shouted, starting the car and took off.
The car ride was quick and soon we stopped in front of a colour explosion. Thousands of people stood in lines waiting for candy or sodas. Children dragged their parents from ride to ride with smiles of excitement on their faces.
"Can we go on the shells first?" Chloe asked, pulling on my arm.
"Sure let's go." We went to do some rides. After the eighth one I started to get thirsty and I went to the soda stand and stood in the line. This may take a while, though.
"Cinderella?" I turned around only to face the person who I was hoping to avoid.
"Hey." Urg, my throat is scratching like a cat on a wooden door.
"How're you doing?" His hands were in his pockets and his hair was perfectly styled like always.
"I'm fine."
"How are things going after the break in?"
"They can't figure out who it was, but the police are working on it."
"Did they take anything?"
"No, Alex said it looked like he was on his way to me when I was on the couch. It's kinda scary."
"Damn, and you're here out in the public where everybody can get to you?"
"I'm not alone, Liam. Plus, I'm not going to hide for the rest of my life."
"You look alone to me."
"Chris is with me here. As well as the kids. I'm not alone."
"Lora, is Chris watching over you now? You're standing alone."
"Whoever's on my case will not corner me in public."
"Oh and you've met this person to know what he's capable of?"
"What's wrong with you? The other day you just showed up at the house and ran of and now you're fighting with me. What happend after that day you were at the house? Because since then you've changed. And I don't like this new you. I actually liked having you as a friend and now I'm not that sure anymore."
"Next please." I realised that I'm in front of the cue.
"Four cokes please. Do you want something?" I asked Liam, who just shook his head. The soda boy handed me our sodas and I started walking back to the ride the others dissappeared to. Liam just followed me.
"Lora, wait." He held me back and I turned to him. "I'm sorry, about everything. I've been a jerk lately and have no reason to be."
I smiled. "You know, you're going to have to come visit sometime to make it up."
"What about tomorrow?"
"Tomorrow it is."
