Xmas of a Future Past

NOTES: I was trying to write this year Xmas story and a wave of inspiration hit me, hours later, here I am with everything completed. It was inspired on the episode Lexmas of Smallville season 5.

I hope u guys like it.

Important things:

I changed all the timelines for it the work the way I wanted. So forget the order of things happening in Arrow, Flash and Supergirl. What happens here is:

- Supergirl is on Earth 1 as she hasbeen a super hero for a few months. Barry met her early on.

- Stuff from both seasons 1 and 2 of Arrow are canon. Barry helped Oliver on s1.

- Sara went to the Gambit but just as a friend, the cheating never happened.

- Barry woke up from coma 3 months later instead of 9 and became The Flash.

Enjoy.

.

Pain.

It was all he could feel.

Pain, grief, anger. He wanted to scream.

He wanted to end this once and for all. He was determined to give himself to his greatest enemy so it all would end, the war that was brought to his city, the mirakuru mess, everything. Until his friends Laurel, Felicity and Diggle convinced him not to do this, but to fight instead.

He was determined.

He was going to fight back and kill Slade Wilson.

He had stopped killing his enemies since his best friend Tommy died, as a way to honor his memory, but he could just send Slade to prison, no prison would be able to hold him. There was no way and now he knew it. He also knew some certain flying blonde that would disagree and argue with him, but gladly she lived in another city, so she wouldn't have the chance to tell him how wrong he was. He was willing to do whatever it took to bring Slade down for good, the way he should have done it back in the island.

This time he would make sure he stood dead.

He felt pain because in the middle of his quest to find Slade, he found some mirakuru soldiers instead and a bullet hit his chest. He was losing a lot of blood, and could barely see things clearly. He cut all communications with his team before going after Slade because he knew they would try to tell him not to do this, and now, there was no way he could reach them.

- Damn it! – He whispered.

He started to feel dizzy and was almost fainting when he noticed a shadow approaching him, but he couldn't tell who that was. He just hoped it wasn't another soldier to end his life for good.

He blacked out.

.

Diggle and Felicity where in the bunker, trying to find Oliver when a whoosh of air stormed in. Supergirl stood before them, with a desperate look, holding Oliver in her arms

- Oh my God, Oliver! – Felicity yelled.

- I found him – Kara said as she landed, rushing to put Oliver on the table.

- He needs medical attention! – Kara said

- We can't bring him to the hospital, they will find out he's the Hood and the police will arrest him... We can't... - Diggle said as he quickly grabbed everything they needed from the med shelf.

- Call Barry, tell him to bring Caitlin here

- I'll bring her here! – Kara said and left.

After a second, Caitlin was standing before them, still recovering from the sudden trip, with her hand on her heart.

- I'm sorry I scared you, but it's an emergency – Kara said and Caitlin stared in shock at Oliver and rushed to help Diggle.

- Sure, just... follow my instructions.

- And Barry? – Felicity asked, not sure where to look, shaking in fear

- He wasn't there, he was dealing with a metahuman, but Dr Wells told me he would let Barry know.

- And Sara? Does she know? – Felicity asked

- Dr Wells told me she was with him in the mission, so they'll probably come later – Kara said – How is he?

- I'm doing the best I can... - Caitlin said – We need space, guys, please wait upstairs while Diggle and I work.

Kara and Felicity went up to the club, to wait while Caitlin and Diggle tried to save Oliver's life.

- I know you guys don't see eye to eye... - Felicity said as she sat on a stool in the bar. The place was closed, so it was easier for them to talk and wait without curious people around. – But thanks for bringing him so quick...

- Felicity, he can be a jerk sometimes, but I would never let him to die on the streets. I believe in hope and compassion for all... Including him!

- What happened? – She asked – I mean, I know Oliver can be difficult sometimes, but... You're a puppy... How can Oliver get a puppy angry at him?

- It's a long story... He's so stubborn, is annoying.

- You're not wrong.

- It all started a few weeks after I met Barry, when he helped me with Livewire and Silver Banshee. He wanted me to meet his friends and the first one I got to meet was Oliver. We ended up teaming up and well... Things went south really fast.

FLASHBACK

- Oliver you tortured that guy for information! This is not ok! – Kara said, backing Barry's argument about the way Oliver was dealing with the situation.

- I got information.

- By torturing him – Barry said.

- Listen, you two. Life isn't rainbows and sunshine. Things in Star City are not bubbly as they are in National City or Central City. I need to make them believe I'll kill them, otherwise I get nothing.

- There's no need to put the fear of God into someone and terrorize them. – Kara crossed her arms – There are other ways!

- Really? Well, I don't have super speed – He stared at Barry – I don't have super strength, I don't shoot rays with my eyes and I definitely can't fly – He stared at Kara – All I have is my bow and arrows and the ability of making bad guys believe I'm their worst nightmare. So which other way do you want me to use?

- One that doesn't involve torturing or actually killing people! We're no Gods, you know? We don't get to decide who lives or die! – Kara took one step forward, facing Oliver with an anger she never felt before.

- And while I try to find another way to deal with criminals, is the time they have to kill me! I can't risk it!

- HEY! – Barry said getting between them – Let's just calm down ok?

- You think is easy for me because I have super powers? It isn't. I face creatures just as powerful sometimes, and even then I try my best to bring them to justice the right way. Is not right to do what you do, I'm sorry.

- Man... - Barry said as he got a bit closer to Oliver – Is not easy for anyone. You told us once you had seen people you love die, like you father and your friend... I saw my mom being murdered, my dad going to prison for a crime he didn't commit and I still don't go to the darkness to deal with my problems...

- The thing is... You still have your humanity. You both have. Mine was gone the moment I left that island!

Kara and Barry watched Oliver leave the room and stared worried at each other. Oliver never talked about the years he spent on that island, when everyone thought he was dead. Kara couldn't even try to imagine what he had been through, and she knew he had deep trust issues and were surrounded by darkness, but it still wasn't the best way of living and someone had to tell him that.

Later that day, Kara and Barry found out about Captain Boomerang plans, and worked together to stop him from bombing the entire city. The last bomb was in the station they were and Kara flew really fast to take the bomb away and throw it in the atmosphere before it could explode. As she landed back to the ground, she walked towards Captain Boomerang to grab him and take him to the police, but Oliver acted fast and punched him on the face, knocking him out.

- What? – Oliver asked Kara, after she looked annoyed at him – It was just a punch... He deserved it!

They brought him to CCPD and went back to Star Labs afterwards, to meet Barry.

- Well done! – Kara said as she hugged Barry

- It was a team work...

- But it was your plan!

Oliver stared at them both and lowered his head.

- I need to apologize...

- Wow, that would be a first! – Kara said as she crossed her arms. – Ok, I'm sorry... Go on.

- I was a jerk before...

- Just before? – Barry said, also crossing his arms

- Listen, both of you, I'm sorry for the way I spoke to you before... Yes, I was a jerk. I just... I have a different way of dealing with things than you two. I did a lot of things I'm not proud of, and I'll have to live with that...

- To be fair you're not killing criminals anymore, so it was wrong of me to judge you like that... - Kara said – I'm sorry.

- I'm not just talking about my days as the Hood. – Oliver said looking serious at Kara – I'm talking about everything, before the island, during the island... I can't go back and change it, so I'll have to deal with that. A lot of things happened that changed me forever. I don't know if I'll ever be able to be hopeful like you guys are, all I can tell you is that I'll do my best.

- It's ok man – Barry said – We all have to deal with decisions we make every single day. Maybe one day, you'll heal from whatever happened to you on the island and things will be better... But you didn't have to punch that idiot, he was already contained.

- Yes, I did.

- Unbelievable – Kara scratched her head as she watched Barry and Oliver arguing.

END OF FLASHBACK

Barry and Sara stormed in Verdant, rushing to know what happened with worried faces. Kara explained everything and how Caitlin was with Diggle, trying to save Oliver's life.

- So I heard a gunshot and the next thing I know Oliver was hurt on the street and losing a lot of blood.

- I can't believe this! – Sara said, covering her face with her hands

- Hey, Oliver will get out of this – Barry said as he hugged her

- Do you guys have any idea how this happened? – Kara asked – When I found him he was about to faint in my arms, there was no time to ask anything

- We believe he went after Slade.

- Slade as...

- As the guy who killed his mom in front of him and his sister Thea.

Kara covered her mouth in shock.

- I've heard she died but there was nothing about how it happened... Oh my Rao!

- Laurel told us she convinced him not to turn himself in because that was his original plan. – Felicity said – He though if he did this, it would all end and I'm glad Laurel put some sense into his brain...

- He still went after Slade by himself when he could have called us. – Sara said, feeling really angry – I'm so mad at him right now!

- Well, there's no need for that now. We need to think positive that he will get out of this, and then we can help him bring Slade to justice and put this all behind us. Christmas is coming, for God sake! This can't be the highlight of this holiday! – Barry said.

Sara walked from one side to the other, feeling impatient. She couldn't stand being there doing nothing. She walked outside the club and Barry nodded to the others that he got this and followed her outside.

.

A white flashlight almost blinded Oliver as he opened his eyes, slowly. He noticed he was only in boxers in bed, and a delicate hand rested on his chest. He looked down, really confused about everything. He turned around and saw Kara Danvers, aka Supergirl, the super alien that he was sure she didn't like him, smiling at him and rubbing her eyes, giving him a kiss on his lips.

- Wha... - He was about to ask what the hell was going on when she grabbed his neck, bringing him closer.

- Good morning Ollie

- Good.. morning.

- Is everything ok? You seem off...

- What? I mean... I don't know... where am I?

- Funny... - She laughed, giving him another kiss – We're home, silly.

- Home?

- Yes. In our home... You know, the one we moved into after we got married... - She said sitting properly on the bed. – I'll call Eliza to check on Mia. One day away from her and I miss her like if she had been away for months...

- Mia?

- Our daughter... I swear to Rao, you woke up feeling really funny today... - Kara laughed as she put her pj's top and left the room.

Oliver stared around, not understanding what was happening. Was he dreaming? Did he die and this was some sort of after life? How on Earth was she married to Kara and had a daughter with her? He needed to find out what was happening as soon as possible. Kara came back after a few minutes.

- Eliza told me she slept like an angel... I think she just loves to keep us awake at night, unbelievable – She said as she sat back on the bed – Oliver, are you sure you're ok?

- Yes, I'm... I'm just... I had a nightmare.

- They're back? – She looked worried, as she caressed his face. – I'm so sorry, it had been a long time since you had those nightmares... If there's anything I can do to help...

- No it's ok... It will pass... I guess... But thank you. – He smiled back at her. – I... Need to go to the bathroom, just...wait here...

As soon as he closed the door he rested his back on it, taking deep breaths.

What the hell was going on? He never felt so confused in his life like he was at that moment. He closed his eyes, still feeling the taste of Kara's lips, remembering the way she was kissing him so full of want. He wasn't expecting to like it and it definitely caught him by surprise. He shook his head and went to the sink, washing his face with cold water.

- My beautiful boy!

He heard a familiar voice, turned slowly around and almost fell to the ground as his heart started to slam on his chest.

- Mom? – He stared incredulous, his eyes filling with tears – How...What's going on? How you're here?

- Not now – She said as he rushed to rug her – There are more important things I have to tell you.

- I miss you so much, mom! – He said as he couldn't help the tears coming.

Moira let him go and stared serious at him.

- You were severely shot and right now, your friends are trying to save your life...

- I'm... Shot? How? How I'm here.

- It's hard to explain. But... All of this, right here, is one of your possible futures.

- I'm... I'm confused.

- It's ok to be confused. But here, it's one of the lives you can have in your future.

- I'm married to Kara... We have a kid...

- I'm not the one controlling what's happening here, if she is the one in your life, it means something dear...

- But she hates me...

- I doubt that.

- She really dislikes me.

- Life is full of surprises, my dear boy. The important thing is that everything you live here, from now on, until you wake up, it can happen...

- How?

- If you make the right choice...If you do the right thing.

Oliver stared at his mom, thinking about the possibility that he had lost his mind for good. Nothing of that could be real... Could it? He remembered how his life turned upside down once he met Barry and learned about metas, and then met Kara and learned aliens were real. There was a tiny possibility all of that was real. He took a deep breath, trying to understand his mom's words better.

- What choice?

- You'll know when the time comes...

Oliver washed his face again and once he looked up, his mom was nowhere to be seen. He took a deep breath again, grabbed a towel to dry his face and stared at the ceiling.

- Well... Whatever is this... Let's go. – He said and went back to the bedroom.

He heard voices coming from the living room and grabbed a grey shirt and black shorts. He put them on and as soon as he walked in, there was another blonde woman who smiled at him and jumped into his arms, hugging him.

- Hi dad, I missed you!

- Dad? – Oliver asked, really confused this time. Wasn't his daughter with Eliza? Did he have another?

- Don't worry, your dad woke up with a strange sense of humor today... - Kara said

- Dad? – The woman stared worried at him – I don't know mom, he's really looking confused...

- Oliver, have you forgotten that Mia comes from the future to visit sometimes? She had a crisis in the future, ended up in our time for a while, we helped her get back to her timeline, but sometimes she misses us and visits.

- Oh, I'm sorry... I just had a lot in my mind those last days – Oliver lied, trying to disguise his confusion.

If this was indeed the future, one of its possibilities, and he was actually almost dying out there, he would have to just go with the flow and see what happens because there was nothing else he could do. He just wished he could find out how he married Kara. It intrigued him the most, for sure.

- Anything I can help with?

- No... Don't worry, everything is ok – He smiled.

He took a closer look at Mia and could see a bit from Kara and from him in her. She had curly blonde hair, green eyes that looked exactly like his grandpa's, she had Kara's strength, for sure, and he noticed by the way she hugged him. He wondered if she had any of her powers or his skills... It was fascinating to see his daughter from the future, one of the futures that were open to him.

- Uncle Barry and Aunt Sara are coming back today from their honeymoon, right?

- Yes – Kara said – Just in time for the Christmas Party at Joe's.

- Great. I have to go now but I'll be back for the party. Can't wait to see them...

- Just be careful to...

- I know, with the timeline... I can't give them spoilers... Or you two – She laughed and hugged Kara and then Oliver – I'll see you two later, love you.

- Love you – Kara said.

- Wow...

Oliver couldn't help himself. Kara stared at him, smiling and came closer. She noticed he had a different shine in his eyes, she could tell he was emotional.

- I'm sorry... - He said – I just... I can't believe she's our daughter.

- Me neither – Kara said – I know is crazy, she's right now with Eliza as a baby, and was here as a young adult a few minutes ago... But I'm really happy she can visit us like this. At least Barry doesn't freak out anymore...

- Freak out?

- He made her promise to be quiet about the future and to not change things so the timeline would be intact...

- Oh right...

- Are you sure you're ok? – Kara asked starring worried at him.

Oliver noticed the blue in Kara's eyes were mesmerizing, and how cute she looked when she was worried about him. Little things he never noticed before because he was too busy arguing with her, and now he suddenly realized what an idiot he was before.

- I was just thinking about how crazy life is... I remember when we wouldn't stop arguing...

- I mean, you were stubborn, like a lot – She teased, giving him a smile that he also noticed for the first time, how bright and sweet it was.

- I know... I was an idiot...

- Well, I didn't make your life easy too... We barely knew each other and I used to judge you a lot. I'm still sorry about that.

The look in her eyes changed, now it looked innocent, and it reminded him of the look a puppy could give you when he wanted something. Oliver genuinely smiled as she reached for his waist, bringing his body closer to hers.

- But yes, life is crazy. And I'm glad for it. If it wasn't for that time Barry needed our help and we teamed up to stop an alien invasion, we wouldn't be here today.

- I wish I could live it...again – He said, trying to find out more about how they got together. It became really important to him.

- Me too – She smiled, giving him a peck on the lips – It was the day we finally got to understand each other. I was mad at you for benching me, and then I saved your life and you came to me later with the sweetest apology... I saw there how I was being unfair to you and when I learned more about your past and what you've been through, everything changed. I don't think I ever opened up about my past like I did that day with you. I guess we shared a bond that day and never stopped.

- Really?

- Yes, you know it. But I say it again, you didn't see yourself as the hero you are back then, and it made me sad because deep down I was actually proud of you, because is so rare for people to care like you did after going through everything you did. I'm glad I saw your progress from up-close. Our progress, because I wasn't that much better... We were both lost, traumatized, through a lot and somehow we found each other.

- And... You can say you're free of your traumas, or there's anything that still troubles you deep down?

He was truly sincere. He was curious about what they had in common and what made them bound so much they ended up marrying each other. He became more and more interested in their story.

- You helped me with a lot of them, actually... I don't see it as trauma now, is more like I always do my best for the people I love and for this world because I lost my planet, my family and friends and I never want to see anyone go through that. When I made Earth my home, I swore to help protect it with my cousin, and you helped me understand I wasn't as alone as I thought I was... It felt like you were the only one, besides my cousin, that truly understood what it was like. This will always be special to me.

Oliver stared at Kara, full of compassion. Now he could finally understand a bit more about everything. She was really good at masking because she always seemed like a ray of sunshine, someone bright and powerful that had no worries in life, when it was actually the opposite. She was a ray of sunshine that had a tragic past and even so, made sure she were there to protect people and save the world. Not even he could do that, even if he wanted to. His hardships always affected him in a negative way, no matter what.

Kara looked at him full of curiosity because Oliver was full of surprises that day. Oliver looked back at her as if it was the first time he was actually seeing her, in a whole new perspective.

- You are truly inspiring – He said, reaching for her cheeks, caressing her face – You went through so much and still shows up with a smile on your face, help people even if they don't deserve it...

- Everyone deserves help and compassion, Oliver. Everyone has a choice, and sometimes people don't make the right choices but I believe that given the right time, everyone can have a second chance. Sometimes their lives or situations influence the way they behave and all, but with patience and care, everyone can be reached.

Kara smiled at the way Oliver looked at her. She caressed his face, bringing it closer to hers as she gave him a slow passionate kiss. Oliver let himself be embraced in the moment, not feeling like he could stop her. She held his waist, bringing him closer to her. She gave him a few kisses on his neck and went back to his lips, deepening the kiss. She reached for his shirt

- I... I don't think we should... - Oliver tried to talk but Kara kissed him once again.

He knew this was some sort of dream, or a peak into the future, but he was still confused if it was ok for him to be with her like that.

- Ollie, you know I love it when you're a gentleman, but you don't need to be. We are married, we have a daughter – She said as she stared at him with the sweetest look, a look that Oliver learned to be capable to melt his heart. – It's a bit late to be cautious – She teased, making him laugh and feel more comfortable.

He couldn't explain it, but he felt way more comfortable than ever. He could see how his future self fell in love with her, he totally understood. It felt right, it felt natural. His hear started to slam inside his chest and Kara gave him a tiny smirk.

- I can hear it – She said as he put a hand on his chest, feeling his heart beating – It has been a long time I heard it beating like this...

- When was the last time?

- When you saw me at our wedding.

- Well, is like I'm falling in love with you all over again

He couldn't help it because it was real, even if it seemed crazy. She grabbed the edge of his shirt, helping him out of it and his lips covered hers, fully kissing her like there was no tomorrow. Little by little he was becoming addicted to her kisses and the way she hugged him, how delicate and strong she was at the same time. If that was his future, what he was destined for, he would gladly accept it. It was everything he ever dreamed of and more. He smiled between their kiss, playful biting her lower lip as he lowered his body, guiding her to rest her back on the bed. She held his waist, squeezing it, as he kissed down her neck. His hands slowly traveled down her body and he felt her soft skin against his touch, making her feel chills down the spine.

A loud knock on the door was hear and Oliver just stopped kissing her, as Kara looked frustrated at him, trying not to laugh.

- Of course there's someone at the door now – She said, muffing a laugh

- Let me see who it is...

Oliver got up, put his shirt back on and went to the door, opening it.

- Of course is Barry – He said in a loud voice – And Sara... It's good to see you guys... Right now!

Kara used her super speed to fix her hair and clothes and came to the living room, smiling awkwardly as she greeted her friends, trying to look innocent.

- I hope we're not interrupting anything... - Barry said as Oliver welcomed them in.

- Oh, no... we were just... watching a movie – Kara said

- So... How was the honeymoon? – Oliver asked, still finding it unbelievable that Sara and Barry got married. He really wanted to know how that happened... It was also destined to happen? He asked mentally.

- It was amazing – Sara said as she held Barry's hand – We didn't want to come back, but we had to...

- I know the feeling – Kara said. – I'm really happy for you guys!

- Thank you – Barry said – We stopped by to give you guys invitations for Joe's Christmas party. I know we mentioned before, but you know Cecile... She wanted to be a formal invitation and all of that...

- Ah, thank you. We'll be there – She smiled – Mia said she will stop by to say hello.

- I miss her, how is she? – Sara asked

- She's great. I wish I could spend more time with her and know more about her life... I know the rules, don't worry – Kara teased – I'm just glad I could see she turned out ok. One thing we could learn about her is that she is a super hero in her time. I'm so proud of her.

- She flies or shoots arrows? – Barry asked, really excited to know Mia is also a super hero like all of them.

- Both – Kara said, squeezing Oliver's hand

Oliver nodded with his head, trying to hide the fact that he was really surprised and emotional to know his daughter was a super hero and inherited both abilities: from Kara and from him. He couldn't be prouder.

- I'm really happy for you guys – Kara said after Barry and Sara got up to say their goodbyes. Oliver stood up right after, also giving them a hug.

- We'll see you guys at the party tomorrow.

- Ok, see you guys there. – Oliver said as he walked them to the door.

As Oliver closed the door, Kara held his hand, guiding him back to their bedroom.

- I love our friends, I really do... - Oliver said – But have they heard of an e-mail? – He finished, making Kara laugh.

Kara gave a small push, bringing Oliver closer once again, not wasting anymore time.

Outside in the real world, Barry found Sara outside Verdant, looking like she was about to cry.

- Hey... - Barry said as he got closer to her – Hey don't do this...

- This what?

- I know you. You'll start beating yourself up over something you have nothing to do with.

- Except I do, Barry! It's my entire fault. Ollie invited Laurel, Tommy and I to that stupid boat. Only I went. After the Gambit went down, Ivo's ship found me...terrible things happened... After a while, it was Ollie, Slade, Shado and I trying to get out of that island, until Ivo made Ollie choose between me and Shado... He had a gun...

- He made Oliver chose? Who lived?

Barry couldn't believe what he was hearing. Oliver kept a lot of his past private since they met, and Barry had a sense that all of that made him traumatized and were responsible for the trust issues he had today.

- Yes. And he was about to kill me when Ollie stopped him, so he shot Shado. Slade found out and he already had the mirakuru in him. He swore he would make Ollie pay.... If it wasn't for me, nothing of this would've happened!

- Hey, stop it! – Barry said as he hugged Sara – You have nothing to do with that, it wasn't your fault that this lunatic killed her or that Slade went nuts wanting revenge.

Sara just hugged him back, hoping that all of that nightmare would be over soon. Barry let go of her but held her both hands, making her stare into his eyes.

- Everything will be ok, just like the last time I told you that, remember?

Sara just gave him a soft smile, nodding with her head as he used his figners to wipe the tears falling from her eyes.

FLASHBACK

Oliver stormed inside the bunker, making Felicity, Diggle and Barry jump in scare. Barry stared worried at Oliver, he had never seen him looking that troubled, except for when Barry saved his life and found out he was the Hood.

- Oliver, what happened? – Diggle asked with the same worried look he had when Oliver got arrested.

- Sara... She – Oliver looked like he had seen a ghost. He sat down as everyone else surrounded him. He took a deep breath and stared at each one of them – Sara Lance is the blonde in black.

- What? – Felicity looked at him in shock.

- Sara? – Barry asked, not understanding what was happening.

Oliver told him brieftly about when the Gambit went down and he went missing for 5 years, that Sara was with him. That he was supposed to be with Laurel and Tommy too, but just Sara could go and how he thought she had died in the accident.

- I was sure... that she was dead – Oliver said, still in shock.

- Will you tell her family? – Barry asked

- I need to understand what happened, how she is alive and... I don't know, I can't say anything now...

- Hey, man... It's ok. – Barry said, trying to help Oliver calm down – Listen... I can't even try to understand what you're going through right now, but her being alive is a good thing, right? Just... give one step at the time, try to talk to her... And if you need anything, I'm here...

- I just... - Oliver said as he got up – Thanks. I need some time to think, I'll... I'll go home.

Oliver stormed out as fast as he came in, and Barry stared worried at Felicity and Diggle.

- A few days later, Barry was at the Queen Mansion, helping Oliver with a few things. Oliver had to go help Thea and he just waited on the living room when he sensed someone was watching him. He used his super speed to check around the home and found Sara hiding behind the door. She turned around, ready to kick him but he moved fast, and grabbed her leg in the air, stopping her.

- I'm sorry if I scared you... I won't hurt you.

- You couldn't! Me on the other hand... - She tried to make another move, but Barry rushed to lock her arms with his as he stood behind her, stopping her from making another move.

- You don't need to try to hurt me too, I'm a friend...

- I don't know you!

- You must be Sara Lance...

- How... How do you know that? – Sara looked scared – No one should know I'm here...

- And no one knows... No one besides me and Oliver's team.

- Oh... the Hood team. Nice!

- If I let you go, do you promise to listen instead of trying to attack me?

- Ok...

Barry slowly let her go and she turned to look at him. She wasn't sure if she should try again to knock him out or run but something told her it would be for nothing so she followed him back to the living room.

- So, let's try again...I'm Barry Allen, Oliver's friend – Barry said as he reached for her hand

- A really fast friend... How?

- I'm... Well, since we're keeping secrets, because I knew you were back and I didn't tell anyone, maybe you can do the same and keep mine?

She just nodded as she sat by his side on the couch.

- I'm the Flash.

- The hero of Central City? – She stared in surprise at him

- Yes. How do you know?

- Since I've been back, I've been watching my family... My mom lives there.

- Oh... ok. So.. You're back...

- I'm not. I can't be back for good. No one can know I'm here, especially my family!

- But... They would be thrilled to know you're alive. They suffered a lot, from what Oliver told me...

- They can't know! I'm trying to keep them safe! Ollie tried to convince me too, but I just can't.

- Why? Are they in danger? You do know that we can help protect them, right?

- No, you can't. Not even you. I just...

Oliver came back and wasn't expecting to find Barry and Sara talking on the couch. Barry told him how they met and that he was trying to convince Sara to tell her family the truth. Sara was about to argue again when they heard a noise.

- Wait here – Sara said as she gave a few steps forward, when a black hooded figure broke inside the house

He guy had a black mask covering his face and a sword on his hand. Oliver and Barry were about to jump and fight him when Sara lifted her hand, stopping them from moving.

- Wait. – She said.

- Tayr Al Asfeer, Ra's Al Ghul wants you back. Dead or alive.

- I won't go back! I've said that before and I'll say it again: I'm never going back!

The guy jumped to fight her but Barry used his super speed to punch the guy, knocking him down.

- You have some explaining to do!

- It will have to wait!

Sara walked towards the guy, grabbed a knife and was about to slice his throat when Barry moved fast to stop her.

- You don't need to do this. – He said as he held her wrist.

- Yes I do. He won't stop coming after me.

- Sara...

She ignored them both, getting free from Barry's hold and killed the guy. She turned to Barry, facing him really close, with pure anger on her eyes.

- Do that again and I don't care how fast you are, I'll put you down!

Barry just stared at Sara, really shocked. She definitely had some anger issues, more than Oliver, for sure. But something told him to not give up on her, no matter what she told him... or just did. Sara stormed out, leaving Barry and Oliver behind, startled.

A few days later, Sara was introduced to Diggle and Felicity as Oliver and Barry wanted to know more about who was after Sara and she ended up telling them about the League of Assassins and her history with them.

- This is not a group you can just leave. The only way is if they kill you... I can't stay here and put my family and all of you in danger. – She turned to face Barry – That includes you. No matter how fast you are, they would find a way!

- Let them try – Barry said as he took a few steps forward.

- Barry, just don't...

- I know... I know I just have known you for a few days, but you just came back. Your family needs you, your friends need you. And I would like to get to know you more, you're really badass, and seems really cool but...

- Listen, you're cute! But I can't stay here waiting for the rest of the league to show up. Felicity, please call my dad, tell him to leave town. They will come after him and Laurel.

- Don't worry about Laurel, I'll help – Oliver said

- I can help protect your mom in Central City – Barry said taking a few steps closer – Everything will work out.

Sara stared deeply into Barry's eyes and nodded with her head. She would accept their help but she couldn't just fool herself thinking that staying around would be ok, because she was sure Laurel would hate her for not telling she was back for a while, as her dad and mom would. It hurt her just to think about it and it was really weird that she could see understanding in Barry's eyes.

A few weeks passed by. Nyssa Al Ghul came after Sara as she was expecting to and it was clear she wouldn't let Sara be free after she kidnapped Sara's mom. Quentin accepted The Flash and The Hood's help and went with them after Sara and Dinah. After rescuing her mom, Oliver noticed that Sara poisoned herself so she could be free of the League and acted fast, giving her antidote. Barry stared at him, still in shock, not knowing what to do.

- How... - Barry asked, feeling a mix of things not even him could understand.

- I know this thing... It was missing from my cabinet; I realized what Sara had done before we came here and brought the antidote with me.

Nyssa just saw everything happening since Sara fell on the floor as the poison took effect until now, desperate as she cried and pleaded Sara not to do this but it was too late. As soon as Oliver saved her, it took Sara a while to start recovering. She looked at Nyssa, pleading for the slaughter and violence to stop. Nyssa finally saw things clear for the first time. She had lost Sara forever and she was willing to die to be free of the League. Nyssa loved her way too much to allow that to happen.

- I, Nyssa Al Ghul, Head to the demon, release you from the League. – Nyssa said as she wiped her tears from her face – You are free Tayr Al Asfeer!

Nyssa vanished in the shadows and the Hood and the Flash stepped away, as Dinah and Quentin rushed to hug Sara. Oliver nodded to Barry and in seconds they were back in the bunker.

- Thanks – Oliver said – Laurel just got there, they need a moment as a family

Barry just nodded, still taking it all in. He went back to the hotel he used every time he needed to go to Star City and tried to process everything that had happened. He was relieved that Sara was ok and finally with her family. They all knew the truth now, she was finally free from the League and he just hoped things would work out for her now.

It was really late, when he hear a knock on the door and went to open it.

- Hey – He was surprised to see Sara at the door. He let her inside and closed the door. – Is everything ok?

- I... I don't know. – She said – I mean, I'm glad my dad and my mom knows, I was so happy... They were so happy. You were right; I should've listened to you.

- I'm glad to know they're happy... And your sister?

- She's pissed at me. Because I didn't tell them I was back. I tried to tell her that I couldn't just show up and tell them "hey, I'm alive, but I'm an assassin now, so you guys need to forget all about me"

- She'll come around... Just give her time. It wasn't easy for her too, by what Oliver told me... It must've been hard.

- You're too young to be that wise – She stared at him from across the room, noticing the way he looked at her.

She couldn't tell what it was, but there was something different, she could tell. She could, because she felt it too.

- I've been there... When it comes to losing family. It's not easy. I was really young when I saw my mom being killed. I guess I kept pushing you to go tell your family because I would give everything to have my mom back and telling me she was alive and well. I wanted to tell you that night that they would feel blessed to have you back in their lives...

- Except for Laurel...

- She'll feel too. Because once the anger is gone and we understand better, we realize how lucky we are... We've known each other for a short time and I saw how special you are.

- Really? – Sara stared surprised at him.

She was definitely not expecting to hear that. It was really hard for her to trust guys and let her guard down, but she had a feeling that she could just be herself around Barry. He was literally different than anyone she ever met before.

And she still found him cute after all.

- Yes. I don't know anyone who had cheat death twice and came back stronger than before. I saw all of that in a short time, I'm sure your sister, with time, will see that too and forgive you. Just give her time. Everything will be ok.

- I will... I mean...

She said, feeling a sudden determination taking over her, thanks to Barry's sweet words at her. She smiled and stopped inches from him.

- I'm home! – She whispered.

- You are – He said, staring equally intensely at her.

They both moved at the same time towards each other, going for each other's mouths as their lives depended on it. Sara felt like sparks exploded around them after all the tension surrounding them. She kissed him with a mix of need and passion and felt him kissing her back with the same ferocity. She was definitely not expecting that. She helped him take his shirt off at the same time she got rid of hers. Barry hugged her by the waist, bringing her closer to him as they kissed and stumbled around the room until finally reaching the bed. Sara gave him a small pull, climbing the bed and covering his body with hers as they resumed kissing each other with pure fire.

END OF FLASHBACK

Back in the future dream, the next morning, Kara told Oliver that Thea was living in a condo in Metropolis so he went there to visit her. He needed to see how she was doing, what the future had for her. After they lost their mom when Slade killed her, it was just the two of them in the Queen family; he wanted to make sure everything was ok.

In Metropolis, Thea was still in bed, smiling from ear to ear as she felt those strong hands caressing her belly and kisses on her shoulders, going to her neck.

- You'll ruin me, making me get used to be wakening up like this every morning – She whispered.

- That's the idea

Thea laughed as she heard that voice she loved so much.

- Clark Kent, you are spoiling me.

- It's because I love you.

Making a huge effort, Thea finally got up from bed and got dressed in casual clothes since they weren't planning on living the house until the party. Clark got dressed in seconds and they prepared to eat breakfast when the doorbell rang.

- Brother! – Thea smiled as she hugged Oliver

- Hey, Thea... - He hugged her back and frowned when he saw Clark, Kara's cousin coming to the door.

What was going on? He thought.

When that happened? He kept asking himself.

- It's everything ok? – Thea asked, worried at the way Oliver stared at her and Clark.

- I'm... just with a lot in my mind lately... Clark... How are you doing?

- I'm great and you guys? How are Kara and Mia?

- They're great... - Oliver suddenly felt really confused again.

He had met Kara's cousin before, in one of their team ups. He was Superman, the guy that had the same abilities than Kara, but who got on Earth earlier. He knew it because Barry wouldn't stop geeking out about how cool he was. He noticed something on Thea's hand and stared curiously at it, until she noticed and blushed.

- Is this...

- Yeah – Thea smiled, showing the ring. – We got engaged last night – She smiled, giving Clark a peck on the lips.

- That's... great! – Oliver said as he smiled awkwardly, hugging Thea and shaking Clark's hand. – Congratulations!

- Thanks man. We were planning to tell everyone at the party, but since you're here... - Clark said – I'm glad we all get to be family.

- Me too – Oliver said as he nodded with his head.

A lot was going on in the future, he wasn't prepared for it all, but he was glad to see his sister was more than ok, and if there was anyone who he knew could make Thea happy, was Clark. He knew little about him, sure, but he was aware of his good guy reputation. After watching Thea and Roy struggling with their relationship in the past, he was relieved she found some peace. He still liked Roy, but he wasn't blind. He tried to respect Thea's space but it was obvious they were not ok.

Oliver went back home to get ready for the party and to clear his head, because he was really needing it. It was too much new information at once for a single person. The future was indeed interesting, and he was glad everyone he loved seemed to end up ok.

Before going inside the house, he stopped near a tree on his garden. He rested his back there, closing his eyes and taking a few breaths.

- Beautiful isn't it?

Oliver opened his eyes and saw his mom once again, smiling at him. He immediately hugged her, not wanting to let go.

- Yes. I'm so glad you're here!

- I'm glad you like this life.

- What's happening? Is this real? All of this? – Oliver asked – Is this really the future?

- Like I've told you, son, this is one of your possible futures.

- What do you mean? Is there any other future I can have?

- Yes.

- And why am I not seeing it too?

- Because it isn't set in stone. Neither is. But one might not be that pleasant... I wanted to spare you.

Oliver looked worried at his mom. So there was another future he could have? One that could be awful? He wanted to know more, he needed to.

- Neither is settle because our future depends of our actions. What we do in the present affect our life later. I'm really proud of you, my beautiful son. You became a true hero. But your path has been full of darkness and sadness. It pains me to see it.

- I don't know how to get rid of the darkness... I don't even know if it's possible.

- In time, you'll see... And understand better. Remember son, all you need to do is, when the time comes, to make the right choice. Do the right thing.

- I really wish you could just tell me what it is.

- In the right time you'll know. Just think about your progress, that's important. You've came too far to go backwards. Never forget that.

His mom gave him a last hug

- Now is time for you to wake up.

Oliver looked shocked at his mom. So he survived.

He was about to go back to the past, his present, and maybe one day he would have that amazing life he saw.

- Will I remember anything?

- Like a dream.

Oliver smiled, satisfied. It was better than remembering nothing.

- Can I say goodbye?

- Sure.

Oliver nodded and hugged his mom one last time before going back inside. He looked back and his mom were gone. He went back inside the house and saw Kara in the bedroom, getting ready for the party. She had a beautiful red dress on. He came closer, with his hands on her waist.

- You look beautiful – He whispered to her ear, making her shiver.

- Thank you, you don't look bad yourself – She teased, turning her face to the side to give him a kiss.

- Just... Wait – He said as he stared deeply into her eyes. – I wanted to tell you something.

- Sure...

Kara stared worried at him. Oliver closed his eyes and opened again, trying to use the right words because what he was feeling was so pure and genuine, he needed her to know before he could wake up.

- I'm sorry if I've been weird today, I just realized a lot of things about my life, things I never stopped to think about before. About how lucky I am to be here with you, married to the most beautiful and powerful woman on this planet. How lucky I am to have this beautiful family, our beautiful daughter. Deep in my mind, I always wondered what the future held for me, because I never thought I deserved to be this happy... And I wanted to thank you. For the amazing years we had, and the amazing ones we will have in the future. You are the most wonderful person that came into my life, and I fully see it now, even more clear.

- Ollie... - Kara said, not able to finish her sentence. His words touched deeply her heart. She tried to fight back the tears.

- Thank you for believing in me and supporting me... I love you.

Oliver said those words with the most sincere love he could possible have for someone. He understood what that experience was and what he had to do so it all could become reality. He remembered his mom's last words in that dream future of his, and it all suddenly clicked.

He knew what he had to do.

And he was determined to do it.

Oliver took one of the straps of her dress down, kissing her shoulder. Kara caressed his face, closing her eyes.

- We'll be late

- I'm sure Barry and Sara will be even later than us – He teased, making her laugh.

Kara opened her eyes, fully turning to face Oliver. She felt his kisses become more urgent, like his life depended on it.

- You're right – She said, grabbing his suit and taking it off.

Oliver held her by the waist as they fell together in their bed.

- I love you – He whispered as they loved each other.

- I love you.

He heard her saying it, and suddenly, he felt his head spinning. He saw that white flash light once again and tried to understand what was happening.

Oliver slowly opened his eyes, and saw Diggle and Caitlin staring at him relieved. He slowly remembered he was shot, that Kara found him and then he just remembered having the craziest dream ever. He remembered seeing his mom on his dream and then a feeling of urgency took over him.

- I'm so glad you're alive. We almost lost you twice, man! – Diggle said as he hugged Oliver.

- Thank you. Both of you – He said as he stared at Diggle and Caitlin – I need to go somewhere now.

Oliver jumped from the bed, changed his shirt and went upstairs. As soon as Sara and Barry saw him, they ran towards him in a strong hug, taking him by surprise.

- Whoa, calm down, guys. I'm ok! – Oliver said as he hugged his friends back.

- Do you like hugs now? You're not complaining... - Barry joked.

- I learned to like them. – He said as he stared at Kara.

Barry and Sara let Oliver go and he nodded at them, and then approached Kara. She was nervously holding her hands, not sure what to say other than "I'm glad you're alive".

- I vaguely remember you helping me, so I wanted to say thank you

- Of course – She said, blushing.

- I need to do something now... Are you going to the Christmas party at Star Labs?

- I don't know... I'm not sure if I'm in the mood...

- C'mon, Ollie is alive, we need to celebrate it! – Sara said, trying to convince Kara.

- She's right – Barry helped.

Kara stared from Oliver to Sara and Barry and just nodded with her head.

- Sure, I'll stop by...

- I really need to talk to you.

- Oh... K – She said

- I see you there

He said and stormed out, leaving Kara confused and full of questions.

.

Star Labs was beautifully decorated for the Christmas party and everyone attended, also to celebrate the fact that Oliver was alive and back to the team Arrow.

Kara talked to a few people, grabbed a drink and just walked around, until she saw with her x ray vision that Oliver was alone in a room near the cortex where the party was happening. She walked there and knocked on the door before walking in.

- Hey.

- Hey... You came! – Oliver smiled

- Yes. I'm a bit curious about what you wanted to talk to me about – Kara adjusted her glasses in her face, trying not to seem so nervous.

Oliver and her had a different relationship than the other. They were usually arguing and disagreeing on things and she never felt that close to him so she didn't know much about his life the same way he didn't about her. This new friendly approach was definitely huge news so naturally, she was a bit nervous and curious about it.

- I wanted to talk to you alone because... I feel like I own you an apology.

Kara stared at him with a surprise look in her face. She was definitely not expecting this. Especially from Oliver, someone she knew didn't apologized that much.

- Shocking, I know – He tried to ease the mood and smiled when saw Kara laugh. – I just... Nearly dying made me see a lot of things clear.

- What do you mean? – She asked.

- I realized I was really unfair to you. I'm apologizing for being a jerk in the past few months. I realized I don't know a lot about your life, about your past, about the things you've been through.

- We both don't know that much about each other, Oliver... Is not just you. I wasn't fair to you, either. I'm sorry.

- I appreciate it. – He said – And I want to change that, if that's ok to you.

Kara could see Oliver was being honest, because he said it all without taking his eyes from hers. She could see the regret, the determination, hope in his eyes. Almost dying really made him see things more clearly.

- If you don't mind me asking... What happened earlier? You told me you had something to do...

- I had a dream with my mother... while I was almost dying, and she told me something about needing to do the right thing and how my life was full of darkness and how I needed to let go of it. She told me I would find the answer; because I came too far to go backwards and then it all made sense. You were right about me. I was in a dark path feeding it each time I tortured someone, each time I killed someone. I remembered the promise I made Tommy, and how I wanted to honor him and how I actually did it for a while... Until Slade came back and took it all from me. I was determined to kill him after Laurel convinced me not to give myself in. I was going to do it.

Kara listened to each word, noticing the pain he was keeping inside of him. She knew it wasn't easy and she was really surprised to see that Oliver in front of her. She was definitely proud of him.

- And... What did you do?

- I fought him. I kicked his ass and dropped him in a prison that Argus built in Lian Yu.

- Lian Yu is the island you spent five years on?

- Yes. I wasn't actually there all the time, but that's a talk for another day, the thing is... Slade found his new home. A maximum security prison, where he would never be able to get out from.

Kara smiled proudly at him.

- You found another way.

- I found another way – He smiled back at her.

He reached for her hand as he held her gaze.

- Do you want to dance?

- I thought you hated dancing.

- I still do... But today I want to celebrate life, and new beginnings.

- And new bounds – She completed it as she held his hand.

- To new bounds – He said as they walked back to the cortex and danced together, making everyone stare at them, half confused, half smiling.

They had a long way to go and he was more than ready for it.

.

Meanwhile, in an empty storage room of Star Labs, Sara and Barry kissed each other as if the world was going to end.

- Merry Christmas! – He whispered to her as she smiled back at him, helping him get rid of the rest of his clothes.

- Merry Christmas – She smiled, giving him a few playful bites on his lower lip – Do you think anyone saw us leave?

- I don't think so, but if they did... I don't care.

- Me neither

They laughed as they kissed each other while everyone celebrated a miraculous Christmas.
