*ERICA POV*

The peaceful slumber was interrupted when I got a call from Elizabeth. I looked at the time to see that it was only midnight. Normally, I would have been irritated but because it was Liz calling, I didn't mind so much. I couldn't exactly say anything to her anyway. Rubbing my eyes, I got up from my bed being careful in not stubbing my toe on anything or just generally falling over thin air.

I picked up the phone and Lizzi spoke, ''Um uh-Erica?'' She sounded terrified.

''Is everything okay Liz?'' Was my first question, she sounded so troubled.

''Uh - can you meet me? Now?'' She sounded conflicted like she shouldn't be taking to me.

''Liz...now? Is everything okay?'' Remembering that it was midnight, I was confused as to why she wanted me to meet her unless it was something really important. '' I mean it's the middle of the night, are you okay?'' I rubbed my face and pushed my hair back in irritation.

''Yeah, you're probably right, it's the middle of the night, sorry to disturb you, I guess I should sleep okay by- '' She spoke hurriedly. I felt so foolish, she rang me because she needed help and I had to help her. I knew I wouldn't be able to go back asleep if I didn't go see what was wrong. Then something clicked. Xavier. He must have said something to her. You can't leave him alone can you?

''Wait! Tell me where are you? I'm coming'' I interrupted as I tried to find my bottoms. I'm worried about her and if she needs me I have to be with her even if it's the last day of my life.

''No! You don't have to, just sleep okay?'' Liz whispered. I know she needed me but she won't say it.

''Be quiet Liz. Tell me where you are and I'll come'' I said bluntly, but full of confidence.

''And how exactly do you plan on coming?" I knew she would be rolling her eyes now.

"You don't have a car and a cab won't be a good idea in the middle of the night.'' She giggled at my foolishness. She sure knew deflect to something other than what was needed to be discussed.

''I uh-'' I didn't know what to say, I was helpless.

''Erica, we'll talk tomorrow, it's fine. I'll text you the address to my house, but for now, I just want you to go asleep" I could sense the mother inside her taking control.

''If you didn't want me to come, then why did you call in the middle of the night?" Now it was my turn to roll my eyes. Sometimes she didn't really think her plans out, she was impulsive.

''I just wanted to hear your awful voice'' She giggled again. It was good to hear her laugh, although I knew the problem had been pushed aside for now. The moment I hung up, she would be faced with it.

''Hey! My voice is not awful!'' I retorted.

''Yes it is! It really is!'' She giggled again.

''Whatever.'' I giggled as well. Damn, she is good.

''So I guess we should sleep now...'' I knew she didn't want to stop talking to me, but she wanted to show everyone that nothing could bring her down. Little did she know, that in the process she was wearing herself down.

''You sure you okay Liz?'' I questioned again. I knew something was wrong but for some reason, she didn't want to tell me.

''Sure as Fuc-'' She screamed at me.

''Oh gosh! Shut up. I'll go okay! Gosh.'' I cut her in.

We both laughed at our childishness.

''Goodbye Erica,'' She spoke.

''Goodbye and goodnight Liz, take care.'' I wanted to know that I was there for her even if I didn't; know what was up with her.

''You too''

After that, Liz hung up. I retired back to my bed, clutching the covers as I thought what could be troubling her. I just hoped she was okay.

*XAVIER POV*

''Xavi boo! I love you'' She spoke as I kissed her left cheek, looking at her big hazel eyes.

''I love you too princess'' I smiled at her. Her declaring her love for me made me the happiest man in the world.

Blushing a dark shade of red, she spoke, ''I love it when you call me princess'' She was so timid in revealing that as if she was scared to say it.

''Come here you little brat" I picked her up from her waist and pulled her on top of me and started tickling her. I knew her weak spot so I concentrated on targeting there. The soles of her feet. Cue evil grin.

''No!'' She yelled ''Let me- hahaha go! haha, Let me- haha!'' As she tried to get out of my grip, but she was no match for me. I love it when she giggles and her sweet voice. It just feels so right.

''Aww you little tiger I'm going to eat you up'' I bit her neck seductively to which she let out a soft moan. I could feel my erection. I put her down on the bed and got on top of her, the animal in me teetering on the edge.

''Xavi! Don't even think about it! '' She warned before I was able to go further. But, before she could comment, I smashed my lips onto hers. When her soft lips met mine my whole body felt completed. Our kiss was long, passionate and full of love. I pulled back to see that her eyes were closed. She had the cutest smile on her face, she is so pure and so innocent. She was untainted. I have this possessive side to me where my heart wants to protect her from the whole world, from the crazy bad people out there. She will be protected. I will protect her.

Forever and always

''Xavi...'' I heard a whisper

''Yes baby? '' I looked at her and smiled.

''Will you protect me like this? Always?'' My smile got wider, it meant the world to me that she trusted me with her protection. I promised myself that I would try my very best to protect her because she deserved it.

''Of course" I replied with determination. I wouldn't let anything happen to her.

''Promise?'' she grinned, her eyes beaming with happiness.

''Promise.'' I smiled.

I woke up breathing erratically as my head began to spin from getting up so quickly as the blood tried to reach every part of my body. With frustration, I got up and ran to the washroom. I was getting sick of these bad dreams, why can't they just leave me alone?

''Why! '' I yelled and punched mirror in front of me as the glass shattered around where I hit it.

Rage consumed me as I tried to rid myself of the bad feelings that were haunting me. ''Why did you leave me, Sapphire Diaz! Why would you do this! Was my love not enough for you?! I loved you! I was supposed to protect you and you were supposed to marry me! You were fucking supposed to live with me forever! I was supposed to love you with everything I had! So why would you fucking leave me! I miss you! I fucking miss you so bad! Come back! Come back Sapphire please come back...'' I roared at the mirror. With no answer from the person looking pathetically back at me, I sat on the cold floor, crying as I tried to get a hold on myself. It was pitiful. I pulled at my hair. My hand was covered with blood and glass remnants. I picked out the pieces of glass that were sticking out of my skin, hissing at the pain.

I stared at the floor, fixated with the blood and glass on the floor. After what seemed hours, I stood up to wash my hand and face, determined to get back to reality though I failed. My eyes were bloodshot red, I felt my nerves were popping out of my head. I wished they did. The pain would stop.

I took in a deep breath.

''Come back...please'' I whispered one last time before walking out of the door of the washroom. I sat on my bed, looking at my hand. Blood was still coming out. It was painful but I didn't care. Not a bit. I got up and went to my wardrobe and there they were.

Sapphire's possessions.

Her clothes and favourite footwear, even her favourite soft toys. Everything was there. But one thing caught my eye. Her favourite locket. Her mother gave it to her on her birthday and she never left it anywhere. It went everywhere with her. After her accident, the doctor gave it to me alongside her other possessions. I picked it up and held it in my bleeding palm. The beast that was locked inside broke fear and I succumbed to sorrow.

I cried.

I cried my heart out.

I cried like never before, sobbing loudly.

I cried till darkness took over me again.
