Chapter 71- Xavier's POV

I walked across the path towards the main house, looking at the number of people that had gathered because Cass had asked them to be here to help with the number of people going against the Kings. I was anxious, nervous about them being here, even though I knew that I had no reason to. They were here to help and not hurt either pack or me, and if they tried to harm us, then there would be troubles with Cass.

It had been two weeks since Zion had given me the video, and I watched it every day, at least her singing. The part where she told me that she loved me disappeared, but I didn't care because I kept watching the music video in my spare time and picked up the small hints that the other Guardsmen hadn't picked up on.

Her singing helped me a lot, however, and I had been able to sleep and eat better than I had before I had seen the video. She helped me keep sane, even when she was not here by my side, and I was very grateful for her.

"Alpha!" someone exclaimed behind me, and I turned to look that way to see a Guardsmen running towards me. He bowed his head and stopped in front of me, looking this way and that before he focused his gaze on me. "You are needed, Alpha."

"Where?" I asked. "What for?"

"I was just told by the king to get you," he replied. "He said that there had been some..." He paused and shifted on his feet, looking around us at the other people lounging around and talking to each other. "Just please, come, Alpha. I am not allowed to say much."

I frowned but nodded my head, understanding that it was sensitive information. "Lead me," I instructed, and the Guardsmen nodded his head before he ran towards the direction he needed me to go. I followed, making sure that I was keeping pace with him and stayed silent.

Worry settled on me like a blanket, and I prayed that whatever they wanted to talk to me did not have to deal with my love because I knew that it would break me.

However, when I walked into the tent, following the Guardsmen, I knew that my prayers hadn't been answered by the grim looks on the faces of the people gathered here.

"Leave," Commander ordered, looking at the Guardsmen who had brought me here. "Go back to your post. You know your duties."

"Yes, Commander," the male said, bowing his head. He walked out of the tent without a second glance, letting the curtain fall behind him.

King Sebastian cleared his throat, and I looked at him. He offered me a grim smile and nodded his head to an empty seat between Brody and Commander. "Take a seat, Alpha," he said. "We won't keep you long."

"Yes, Your Majesty," I said, nodding my head. I sat down between the two of them and looked at all of the people gathered here. Warily, my eyes skimmed over the species gathered here, and I had no idea how Cass had been able to be such a big part of their lives, even when they were from different species.

"Why are you looking at us like that?" a Vampire asked, and I looked to the person that had spoken. The male, Angelo I presumed because he looked like the male from the video, grinned, showing his fangs. "Scared that we are going to kill you, Wolf?" he asked.

Hank snorted. "I don't think Cass'll like it if she finds out that you are teasing him like that, Angelo," he said. "She might take both of your fangs out and knock some teeth out while she is at it."

"I'll even allow it," another male said, and I looked at him. The Vampire nodded his head to me before looking at the other male. "You know how protective she is of him."

Angelo scowled and shrugged his shoulders. "I know," he said coldly. He looked at me. "You don't have to worry about us, Alpha. We know better than to touch any hair on your head."

A female scoffed, and I turned my gaze to look at her. She scowled and narrowed her eyes at me, and I frowned, not liking her one bit. "Why is he even here?" she asked, looking at Sebastian. "His father created the group, or have you forgotten?"

"His father did not create this group," Sebastian said, coldly. "His father had led the group, but he did not create it. It had been created before him, Bilan, or have you forgotten the history that your group has passed down for centuries?"

Bilan bristled and narrowed her eyes at the King. "However, you are letting him be in here." She gave me a withering look before looking at him. "What is the importance of him anyway, besides being the Alpha?"

"Uh, Cass's secret lover, duh," someone said, and I looked towards the voice to see May, Charlie, and someone else that I hadn't seen before, looking at us through a holographic screen. May scowled at Bilan. "Besides, she trusts him a lot. If she didn't, then she wouldn't have left her cousins with him."

"It's safe to assume that everyone here knows that Cass has a child," Sebastian said, glancing at May before looking at Bilan. "She is allowing Xavier to keep an eye on him. And as May had said, Xavier is her secret lover."

"Though it isn't a secret to us," Julian piped up, and Justin nodded his head in agreement. "It might be to him."

Hesitantly, I shook my head. It wasn't a secret to me any longer, not after that video. I knew that she loved me, and I loved her just as much. "It isn't," I replied. "She told me."

"When did she tell you?" Julian asked, looking at me in shock. He looked at his brother and scowled. "Why didn't you tell me?"

"Who says that I knew?" Justin asked.

"Because I k-"

"Ok, before there is an argument about the "better" twin, Xavier, do you want to tell everyone the gist of the video?" May asked, interrupting her prince. She gave me a smug smile, and I scowled before looking at the group.

"It was a warning and an apology," I replied. "She told me that there was going to be a war, and it would be on my packlands." I looked at Sebastian. "My pack is ready and at your service, Your Majesty," I said. "The Warriors will fight alongside your warriors."

Sebastian nodded his head, frowning. "I know," he said. "We might need your pack. Have you figured out how many people are gathered?" he asked Charlie.

"No, Your Majesty," Charlie said. "However, I had been told not to worry, and I should know soon." He looked at his arm and pursed his lips. "Unfortunately, I don't know when."

"Keep us updated. Any word about figuring out how to get eyes on Cass, or are they still saying not to do anything?" Sebastian asked. He glanced at me and gave me a look that told me to shut my mouth, and I did. "I'll tell you alone, Son," he said.

I frowned but nodded my head. I could still feel the gaze of Bilan on me, and it took all of my self-control not to look and glare. I set my jaw and stayed silent, waiting for someone to speak.

"What are you to her?" Bilan asked, glaring at me. "I still don't thin-"

"Enough," Sebastian said, growling. He slammed his hands on the table and stood, glaring at the female.

The Guardsmen around him shifted, and all eyes were on Bilan while they waited for her to attack or the order to attack.

"H-"

"Her second chance," I said, interrupting the king. I looked at her, unblinking, and set my jaw. "I am sure that I am her second chance mate like she is mine."

Bilan scoffed and rolled her eyes. "There is no such thing as second chance mates. If there was, I would have been told." She narrowed her eyes at me. "Yo-"

"Do you know her bloodline?" Brody asked, interrupting Bilan. He smiled towards me and nodded his head in greeting before looking at Bilan. "My niece's. Do you know it?"

Bilan set her jaw and narrowed her eyes. "What does this have to do with anything?" she asked, coldly.

"Quite a lot, actually," he replied. He took a sip of his drink and cleared his throat. "You see, there are rumors that there are descendants from the original Ten. These men and women share similar characteristics, characteristics that the Ten have, such as being a TruthSeeker, or being Vengeful." Again, he took a sip of his drink and smacked his lips, twisting the cup and the contents around. "I'd watch out for the Vengeful. They have quite uncontrollable anger at times."

"Brody," Sebastian warned and gave him a look, and Brody smiled this knowing smile. He looked at Bilan. "Enough," he warned, interrupting her. "You and your clan had been contacted to help, for this will be a major battle between them and us, even larger than the massacre. Do you understand?"

Bilan nodded her head, scowling. "Yes, Your Majesty," she said. She flashed me another look before looking at the king. "Now," she asked, raising her eyebrow. "What is it that we need to discuss?"
