Chapter 63

Two days had passed since the meeting with the "secret" group, and some of the plans that I had made had changed, most of them benefitting the packs that were involved.

After the meeting, I stayed in the tent and worked on other stuff, letting Charlie and the others watch Camen and the Soothsayer. The reason for that was because some of the other "species" were starting to get suspicious of me and watching to see if I did something that should be brought to Camen's attention.

I had no idea why the other species were helping him out, but I was sure that Camen was able to convince them that with him, or his group, as ruler, then they would be able to live in a new era where all Supernaturals were in charge and not in hiding.

What he didn't tell them was that they would be enslaved, too, and the Werewolves would be at the top.

That was their ultimate goal, and they would use descendants from the original Ten to do it. That information was gathered after May had placed the listening devices in their lair.

So, our goal now was to make sure that didn't happen. That meant we were going to have to find a way to get there and see who the main person was. May wasn't able to get a good look at them because they had made sure it was very dark, and our stuff couldn't work for some reason.

I had to figure out how to get it to work, and that did take a long time. Thankfully, I didn't have to worry about Camen because he had made himself sparse, mainly dealing with the Soothsayer and trying to get information out of him.

The good thing was, Camen wasn't able to. However, that was bad for me because he started to beat me at any chance he got just because he didn't get anything out of him. This had lead May and Charlie to almost pull me out of there, but stopped when I ordered them not to.

They didn't agree with it, but they knew better than to go against my word. They knew I could "handle" it, but I was slowly starting to become insane with all the beatings that I had received from my ex-mate.

There were times when I just stared off into space listless and not focus on anything. Everything became distant as if it didn't matter anymore except for the pain, and I was slowly starting to lose track of the time.

Sometimes, it felt as if I was experiencing something outside of my body, and most of the times that was when Camen had sex with me. I was watching me from outside my body and slowly started to lose a sense of reality.

It had gotten to the point where Tito would risk his ass to check up on me during those two days until he finally gave me a shot of something that finally got me out of that place I was in.

And, currently, I was sleeping off that shot because it had boosted my strength for a little while before it simmered down and left me exhausted but more alert.

My dozing was cut short, unfortunately, when Camen stormed in and delivered a hard kick to my ribs, angrily.

Camen was scowling when he noticed my eyes on him, his dark brown eyes red with fury. "Get up," he snarled, kicking me in the ribs again. "Now."

I did what I was told to do, but I didn't get up fast enough for him because the next thing I knew, I was being pulled by my hair to wherever Camen wanted me to go. 'What happened?' I asked, sensing Charlie's panic.

'He knows something,' Charlie replied. 'The Soothsayer kept saying "Master" over and over again like 'Master wouldn't be pleased' or something like that.'

I didn't answer as Camen threw me in front of a wide-eyed Soothsayer. I stared at him with equally wide eyes, my concern growing for this bruised man.

"Is this piece of shit your master?" Camen asked, kicking me hard in the ribs. He watched as the Soothsayer wept, begging for mercy. Camen growled out again and kicked my ribs again. There was a sickening crack that filled the room and stinging pain as he broke the shirt and a rib.

A strangled half cry/half scream came from my tight lips the pain flaring hot white before I was able to focus on the mission at hand. Tears welled up in my eyes, but I didn't let them fall, knowing full well that it would break the Soothsayer more than he was.

"Please, please," he begged. He tried to reach for me, his eyes filled with tears because he knew that I was in pain. "Please no hurt."

"Then answer me," Camen snarled. "Or else you will watch her die."

'May, I need a distraction and fast,' I said, my voice shaking from pain when Camen lifted me by the hair. I stayed silent and gritted my teeth to stop myself from screaming out.

'Got it,' May replied. She was concerned, but she didn't make a sound. She knew better, having been on a couple of missions with me before.

Camen threw me at the other wall, and this made the Soothsayer grovel and move towards me. "Restrain him," he snapped at both Joel and Tito. "Let us see if we can make him talk."

There was a loud boom which made all three men stop and look towards the entrance. Smoke billowed in through the closed doors while a rim of a wheel entered the enclosure.

I didn't focus on them but on the male that was still trying to get to me and held up my hand, palm up. I ignored the flare of pain when I did that, my main focus on the male that had a lot more information in him that he needed to share.

The Soothsayer stopped moving and watched as I pressed my palm and caused something to shoot from my wrist and hit him in the neck.

This thing caused the Soothsayer to topple over and fall asleep just as May entered the tent, holding a steering wheel.

She was coughing and waving her hand in front of her face. She didn't look at me but bowed her head to Camen. "I am sorry, Alpha," she said, her voice deeper than normal. "I should have warned you that I couldn't drive and accidentally destroyed one of your vehicles."

Camen growled and moved a hand across his face. He looked exasperated, and I knew that he was not pleased with himself for trusting her. "Whatever," he growled. "Just... clean the mess and then get out of my sight. Do you understand?"

"Yes, Alpha," May replied. She grabbed the other part of the car and left. 'One vehicle is down. Should I do the others?' she asked.

'No,' I replied and rolled my eyes when she groaned.

Camen growled and shook his head. "Stupid, dumbass. No wonder he had never become an Alpha Beta." He turned towards the Soothsayer and noticed that he was asleep and growled again, turning his gaze to me. "What did you do?" he asked.

My heart pounded in my chest, and the all familiar feeling of fear tightened its grasp around my heart.

"Well?" Camen asked, stalking towards me. His eyes turned this dangerous color and energy filled the air around us, causing the hair on the back of my neck to stand up on end. "What did you do?"

Tito stopped him from getting closer to me. "She didn't do anything," he said, and I was surprised he was able to keep his anger in check. I knew that he was seething about my cracked rib, and there was nothing he wanted to do but cause him to feel the same pain I was in. "She can't, remember? She is too weak and stupid like him."

"Then why the hell is he asleep?" Camen snapped. He pointed at the Soothsayer. "Fix him, now," he growled out.

"I will try, but my powers have not been working right, remember? I am doing too much at once," Tito replied.

Camen snarled and lurched towards the Soothsayer, but he was stopped by both Joel and Tito. "I am going to kill him," he snapped. "I am going to kill him."

'Disconnect May and add Commander,' I said. I whimpered in fear and moved to the edge of the tent, covering my eyes. I ignored the pain in my chest as I moved, knowing full well that I was going to have to fix it soon.

'On it,' Charlie said.

"You will be killed if you do," Tito warned, grunting when Camen landed a hard kick on his side. "Remember? They want him alive."

'What is it?' Commander asked as soon as he was linked up to me.

'The Soothsayer is in trouble. I am going to need help getting him out.'

"Why don't we kill him tomorrow?" Joel asked. "Ask them tonight. We don't need him anyway." He gestured to me. "We have the girl. She could be more of use to us with the right tools."

Fuck. I was in deep shit.

'What about you?' he asked. His voice shook with anger.

'Not yet.'

Camen turned towards me and gave me an evil grin, and I couldn't help but show the actual fear I felt as I stared into his soulless eyes. "Yes..." he said. He shoved both Tito and Joel off of him and stalked towards me like I was his prey. Slowly, he knelt down and brushed a strand of hair roughly behind my ear and grabbed my face.

'Are you sure?'

'Positive,' I said, hesitantly.

"We have this... delightful creature with so much knowledge inside her head just dying to come out. The Soothsayer is of no use to us now that we have her."

"And if she doesn't answer?" Tito asked.

"We kill the ones that she holds dear, starting with that... Alpha of hers," Camen said. He was trying to get a reaction out of me, but he didn't. And, that made him mad. He snarled and grabbed my face tight. "We will kill all that you hold dear, Little Pet," he snarled. "You will answer all of our questions. Do you understand?"

I didn't answer, and this made Camen growl and shove me to the ground before leaving the tent. 'I don't care how many people you send, just send enough that I can get him out cleanly and without being too noticeable.'

'I will,' Commander replied. 'Just be careful.'

I laid my head on the ground and closed my eyes. I knew that the two other men had left, both of them having other duties they had to attend to. 'I will,' I promised. 'I know what I am doing.'

I hoped...
