Chapter 29
XANDER'S POV:
It's been a week since she was taken. A week of torture. Every night I've been having nightmares. I see her...I see my Izzy in pain and in suffering. Whenever I try to get to her, a mirror appears out of no where. I see me and Lana together when Izzy caught us. The pain I caused my mate kills me. It kills me that I did it to her. I caused her pain. I should have never agreed to Lana. I should've killed her on the spot. I didn't need her stupid information. For all I know she didn't even have it. She only pretended so than Izzy would catch us. If Lana wasn't dead right now...I would think of so many creative ways to torture her.
I get up from bed, drenched in sweat. I walk right up to my mirror. I look at myself in disgust. I splatter cold water on my face and take deep breaths. Thoughts of Izzy invaded my mind. Thoughts of her hurt, her in Mathesus's hands.
I snarled and I punch my mirror over and over again. I see blood splattered all over my knuckles and mirror.
Noah and Soul burst through the doors. "What happened?" Noah asked.
I snarled, "I don't have my mate, that's what's happened, Noah!"
Soul took a step forward, "What else do we need to do, Xander?"
"I have sent search parties. I am not sure of what I can do. I have no scent, no clue of where they could be."
Soul steps in and says, "Xander, you have to-"
I punched both of them in the face before they could finish their sentence. They groan as they hold their wounds. I stretch my shoulders and crack my neck slightly, "I feel a little better now."
"I hope you do," Soul groans.
"Soul, you're in charge while I'm gone, yeah Noah and I need to pack some stuff."
"What stuff? Where are you going?"
I walk to my closet and grab my suitcase. I go around the room packing some clothing. "I'm gonna need witch."
IZZY'S POV:
"I've been sitting in this rotten cell for a week. Why haven't they done anything to me yet?"Right now I am sitting on the floor beside Lincoln with the bars separating us. Ever since the day Lincoln defended me, we've grown closer. We usually just sit next to each other and exchange stories. Not much else we can do anyway.
"My guess is because they're waiting for your pregnancy to hit the 4 week mark."
"What's so special about the four week mark?"
Lincoln rolls his eyes, "Do you know anything about pregnancy? You're a female after all! You should know this stuff."
I help my hands up in surrender, "Well I'm sorry, I haven't really been focusing on pregnancy because I didn't even know I WAS!" I snapped.
Lincoln sighs and shakes his head, "The four week mark is special because at that point there is nothing physically possible to stop or hurt the pregnancy."
Panic rose inside my chest, "B-but you said that pregnant werewolves are very delicate!"
"They are delicate, but they become more capable of withstanding certain things physically, after the four week mark."
Please tell that doesn't mean what I think it means. "Things like what?" I whisper.
I see him hesitate before saying through his teeth, "Things like beatings or whippings."
I take a deep breath and lean my head against the wall, "Please Xander hurry."
XANDER'S POV:
"Hurry up Noah!" I shout behind me.
"Don't tell me what to do!" He shouts back.
I roll my eyes, "Shut up and keep up!"
"Hey! We both know who is the fitter one here!"
"Yes I do know! And the fit one is waiting for the lazy one to keep up!"
We've been walking for about four hours now towards the northern woods. That's the central place where a lot of mixed creatures come together to trade goods or find a job as such.
I need to get there before the old hag decides to close her house early as she always does on Fridays. I know that it's impossible for a werewolf to fight an old enemy as big as this alone. So, I decided to visit an old friend of mine. Her name is Carrow of the House of Witches and a close ally. She was a friend to my pack when it was in danger in a time when my Father ruled as Alpha. I just pray to the Moon Goddess that she could aid us once again.
We come to a very busy Market when we arrive. I look at the big archway and the sign on it that says, "THE NORTHERN WOODS."
"Why are we here Xander?" Noah asked confused.
"To visit an old friend."
I go through the throng of people. My attention is pulled mothers holding their children to their breast. Fathers leading their families. Husbands holding their wives. I sigh as I see the couples. I look down at my arms and see how empty they are. I yearn to have my Elizabeth back in my arms. I wanted to hold her and tell her everything was going to be okay.
I sighed and I shook my head slightly. I need to focus. I will get there. I won't be separated from her forever. I will have Izzy once again.
I walk to an old cottage looking house that seems to be falling a part.
"What a lovely quaint home. It's got the white fence and everything...except that it looks over 500 years old." Noah said sarcastically.
I scoff, "Shut up Noah. Let's just get what we need and go."
I walk up the steps and knock on the door. A shout came from the other side, "Leave! I don't want to see you! GET OUT! I AM CLOSED! LEAVE OR I'LL CURSE YOU FOREVER!"
I rolled my eyed. "Trick or treat." I shout.
The door instantly opens by itself.
Noah sighs loudly, "Well that's not creepy at all."
"Carrow?" I shout.
I see her walking down her long hallway towards us, "The son of Alpha Joseph...Xander?"
"Alpha Xander now."
I see her smile, making her wrinkles intensify even more. "I was wondering when you were going to visit me boy. I've missed the times you would beg me as a child to make you invisible."
I chuckle at the memory, "Yes...times are different now. I need your help."
She frowns as she sensed how serious I was, "Come in come in."
Noah and I walk in. Carrow turns to Noah and smiles, "You are not little Noah, are you?"
I chuckled, "It's big Noah, Carrow. We aren't little boys anymore."
She suddenly stops smiling and looks into his eyes. She comes closer to him and places her hand on his cheek with a sad frown, "I see your future boy. You will have to choose between two. One you are loyal to or one that your heart is loyal to."
Noah tensed instantly, "What're you talking about?" She stares at Noah with a sadness. Noah looks at her uncomfortably. I see that he is getting a little fidgety with what she said. So tried to steer her off, "Please Carrow, I need your help."
She sighs and nods, "Yes yes. Come come, children..come come."
"I bet that's what she said to Hansel and Gretel." Nah mumbled under his breath.
She leads us into a dark lit room with old candles everywhere, along with bottles of potions, ingredients and herbs.
She sits at her old wooden chair at her desk, "Now tell me, what do you need from Carrow of the House of Witches?"
"My mate has been stolen from me." I growled. I don't like saying such words, it only makes me more angry.
"By who?" She asks.
"Matheseus." I snarl.
Carrows eyes instantly widen in fear, "I cannot help you. The Rogue Alpha is so dark and evil that I bet even Hell spat him out! No magic can go against that type of darkness. Your mate might as well be dead."
I growl, "Don't say such things to an Alpha. You cannot just turn away from me! Why do you fear him so much?"
"He killed my daughter! I did everything I could to save her, but he took her and killed her!"
"How do you know she's dead?"
"I can't feel her pull anymore."
"But if he's as powerful as you say he is...then he must have a way of blocking that, making you believe that your daughter is dead. Please...if you help me get my mate, then I will save your daughter as well."
She looks at me hesitantly, "I'm not sure."
"You won't be using your magic directly at him Carrow, you will use it to aid me. I need you to get me and my army there without being notices or tracked."
She looks at me straight in the eye, "Do you swear that you will save her if she is there?"
I bow my head to her, "I swear as an Alpha, I will do what I can."
She sighs, "Fine...wait here." She goes off into her back room.
I sigh in relief. I feel a little bit of hope inside of me. Please...please let this work.
I look around all of her potions that look to be dated back from hundreds if not thousands of years ago. I grab this dark blue bottle and look at the writings on it, but I can't read it. It's in an ancient language. I open it and was about to take a little sniff till it was taken out of my hand.
"Don't sniff that you idiot boy." She said shaking her head.
"What is it?"
As Carrow was preparing the different potions and mixing some she said, "It's a hallucinogen. It makes people see what you want them to see."
"Why don't we use this then?" I asked.
"Because they will be able to track you and smell you." She replies to me in away that made me feel dumb.
She wraps up this small bottle in a cloth and uses string to tie it down tight. She then hands it to me, "There. You give a tiny drop to each man and it will distribute this scentless fume that the enemy will breathe in to muddle their senses. They will not be able to smell you and they will not be capable of tracking you either."
I take it from her and bow my head, "Thank you."
She holds my hand and squeezes, "May the Moon Goddess help you."
Noah and I walk out of there. I take a deep breath and growl. "Don't worry Izzy," I whisper to myself, "I'm coming for you."
