Chapter One: Pirates Life For Me

Hello just a note from the author please don't forget to leave your comments and I will try to answer back. It just leaves me to say thanks for reading. Author out for now.

Rebekah’s POV:

Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate’s life for me.

The salt spray on my face, the wind in my hair, and the great ocean ahead. Yes, that’s the life for me. Give me the sea over land any day.

“Bring her about, Mr. Hawk.”

Life on the open sea with the clear breeze. Why would I ever want to be back on dry land? Who would?

Once you’re on the water, you find that you can’t leave for long. You get a taste of the water, a sixth sense, but I wouldn’t recommend drinking the water or swimming in it.

“Set a course, Mr. Arrow. North, towards the horizon.”

My ship, my rules. And I run a tight ship. I am the captain. Captain Rebekah Fletcher or Captain Black Heart.

My first mate, Mr. Hawk, and my quartermaster, Mr. Arrow, are two men I can alway rely on. The two men who have been here since the beginning.

Every great ship has a name and mine is no exception. It has black and red sails and it called the Black Phoenix.

Our flag wasn’t the usual skull and cross bones. It was black, old-looking, and torn with three swords. Two at the bottom, one through the head of the full red skeleton of the Phoenix.

Life wasn’t always cruel and ruthless. Well, maybe a bit, but we had fun, too.

Although I was not afraid to put people in their place, because I’m a woman, some men think they can take advantage and steal things.

Like my ship, as well as my title as captain. But they soon regret it, as I make them beg for mercy on their knees.

My father was a sailor and when he was attacked by his own offices, because he helped a pirate, they blamed it on the pirates and my mother never got peace.

So, I went for revenge.

I was the only other person to know the truth. So, even though some people would kill pirates, I became a captain, instead, and killed them all.

All who attacked my father, all who killed him, and all the Navy men.

Which only got me a reputation as bad as Black Beard and Davy Jones. I was the queen of the sea.

I left my mother and the girl I once was; everything to do with her. I became the nightmare, butcher of the navy, Captain Bex Fletcher, the midnight bride, the queen of the sea.

“Let’s have a song, shall we boys? Mr. Crow.”

A Pirate’s Life For Me, a personal favorite and classic, if I do say so myself. Oh, I almost forgot to tell you about the crew!

Well, Mr. Hawk and Arrow, you already know. Then there is Mr. Crow, the musician. Then Mr. Ark and Mr. Sharpe, the gunners.

Then there is Match, Port, Delta, Napoleon, Half-pint, Grimm, Grub, Wolf, Butcher, Chuckles, Hornet, Hopper, Bishop, Punch, Gus, Jester, Chopper, Puch, Patch, Sonic, Sky, Kip, Lance, Chase, Hazard, Axel, Quake, Blaze, Hunter, Jez, Hammer, Bridge, Sketch, Cable, Rocket, and, finally, Gecko.

I trust them all, although sometimes, I have to put them in their place. Nevertheless, I couldn’t wish for a better crew. They were perfect.

They all had their reason, but I never let them cross the line. We weren’t cold-hearted killers like most, who just kill, loot, and drink.

We were the sea’s men, like Robin Hood and his merry men, but with a twist. We do kill sometimes, if we need to.

We don’t give to the poor. But, when we go to small islands, like Singapore, where there aren’t big businesses, that’s when we give money, but only to buy supplies that we need.

Mainly in the islands, where the law doesn’t care; otherwise, well, we’ll get hung.

We follow the code, but we leave no man behind. I would often climb to the very top of the main mast to stand in the Crow’s nest. Although I had my cabin, up there, I felt free.

“Ship ahoy, Captain.”

Music to my ears, I thought, as I swung down using the sail rope.

“Bring her around, Mr. Hawk. Let’s show them what happens when they cross my ship, on our waters. Men to arms, gunners, prepare the cannons!”

It was like clockwork. They set up so fast, like it came naturally. When I first met them, they were incredibly slow.

We practiced for months. Now, they do it in record time.

“Fire at will!”

I loved the sound the cannons made and the smell of fire mixed with smoke. It made the salty water seem alive.

“Shall we procede to board, Captain?”

Some days, I let the ships go. Sometimes, I send it to a watery grave. And others, we rob it and let the ship go. But sometimes, we rob it and send it to a watery grave.

I looked at the colours that were flying. The Navy.

“Prepare to board. But don’t be too long or you’ll await the same fate as them: a trip to Davy Jones’s locker!”

They all cheered and prepared to board. I decided I would meet the captain of the ship. I was about to sink the ship. The least I could do was show a sign of respect.

After all, a good captain always goes down with their ship.

Once the men had seized the ship, I boarded and head for the direction of the prisoners who were bounded in the center, above the gallows.

“Ah, Captain Drake. Back on the ocean, I see, with a new ship.”

Captain Drake was one captain I let go awhile ago. I thought he would have taken the hint.

“Still a pirate, I see Captain Fletcher. And still alive.”

I couldn’t help but chuckle. If only he knew what was going to happen. I turned to look at the open sea.

“My dear Captain, I gave you a chance once. I was hoping you would take it. But clearly I shall have to send your friends in government a bigger, much louder message.”

With that, he was dead, point blank. He never saw it coming. When I turned back to face him, my hand was quicker than his eye and now he’s dead. The people and his crew cried.

“Monster!”

Once we left and were safely aboard the Black Phoenix, I gave the order.

“Send it down to Davy Jones, boys.”

I went up to the quarter deck and Mr. Hawk steered us away. Mr. Arrow and Mr. Ark came up to me.

“Captain, we’ve got a stowaway who is asking for an audience.”
