Tsukui Michio
AU: Each person gets a small vile on a necklace. Over time it fills with black ink, when it fills completely you meet your soulmate and the ink turns gold.
The blaring sound of your alarm startles you from your slumber; you reach your hand out from under your warm blanket, turning it off. You quickly stuff your hand back in, annoying at being woken up. Today was your day off so you wanted some extra sleep, but apparently your alarm had other ideas.
You close your eyes again, wanting to go back to sleep, but that didn't happen, you just lied there. So with an annoyed huff, you decide to have a shower and grab a coffee drom down the street to wake you up.
You slide your shirt on, just finished in the shower. You glance over at your side table, realising that you hadn't even looked at you necklace. You pick it up and look inside the small glass vile. The inky substance that constantly filled the jar further and further looked as though it was almost full.
Today was the day. Finally, you knew that you would be meeting your soulmate. Ever since you were a little girl you had been looking forward to meeting your soulmate. You grin as you loop the necklace on, looking down at the small item once more before setting off to go and grab your bag. You check once more to make sure you didn't forget anything before setting off.
You were going to drive, but decided against it, as the warm sun felt too nice. So you begin making your way down the street. People were out, by themselves or with friends and family. It was about 10am so people were probably out for a late breakfast or early lunch.
When you finally get to the café you got your coffee from you noticed that it was fairly packed.
'Take away it is.' You think to yourself.
~~~
"(Y/n)!"
When you hear your name called out you get almost too excited. You thank the barista before heading back out, coffee heating up your hands.
As you're walking you try to decide on what you wanted to do now. You didn't want to go home, since you rarely left anyway. Eventually you decide on looking at the book store and then the closest game store.
You glance down at your necklace, still dark and murky. As soon as you look up you almost crash into someone and they nearly tumble over. But luckily you manage to catch them.
"I'm so sorry!"
The both of you look at each other, and then he glances down at you necklace. You blink in surprise, looking down at your necklace. But alas it was still its usual dark colour.
"You finding them today, too?" you grin.
"Yeah," he nods, "I'm a little on edge."
"That's fair enough," you nod, "good luck on your search."
"Thanks, you too."
And with that he rushes off, nearly bumping into another person. At least you weren't that nervous.
You continue on your way, happily sipping on your coffee until you reach the bookstore. You let out a hum as you enter, looking around at the shelves of books for you to pick from.
'This may take a while.'
~~~
'Well, there goes a fair bit of my spending money for this week.' You think to yourself as you exit to store, bags in hand.
Instead of going to the game store, you decide to head home, knowing that no matter what you do you'll meet your soulmate. As you cross past the café you hear sniffling. You look around, trying to find where the sound is coming from. Of course as soon as you walk passed an alley you notice a small figure leaning against the wall. Cautiously you walk towards them, not wanting to scare them.
"Hey sweetie, are you alright?"
At your voice the girl jumps, look over at you with wide eyes.
"It's okay, I'm just here to see if you're alright." You keep your voice low and calm.
She sniffles again, "I lost my dad."
"Alright, how about we go find him."
When you say this she flinches, shaking her head.
"Okay, that's okay," you smile, "how about we go and sit somewhere where he can see you easily."
You point over at the empty bench in the middle of the small plaza, "how about there?"
You look back at her, and eventually she nods.
"Okay, come on."
You make sure to keep your distance, not wanting to scare her. You both sit down; she was scanning the crowd through her misty eyes, trying to find her dad.
"So, what does your dad look like so I can look for him too?"
"Um, well, he had black hair, and big dog ears..." she trails off.
Dog ears?
"Okay, I'll look out for him."
You had no idea what that meant, but you were sure you would when you saw him.
The sea of people were lazily walking about, enjoying their weekends. You let out a quiet 'huh' when you notice the man with black hair and big dog ears. He looked frantic as he searched for his daughter.
"Is that him there?" you get the girl's attention.
Her head whips around and she grins, nodding. She jumps to her feet, running towards him.
"Dad!"
As soon as the man's ears perked up you knew that he had heard her. A grin stretches across his face at the sight of his daughter. Once the pair embraces you knew that she was safe. You get to your feet, picking up your bags and begin to head home.
"Hey!"
A hand on your shoulder nearly causes you to jump from your skin. You turn around, meeting the blue eyes of the dog eared man. And as you do you notice the once black ink on the man's necklace turn a bright gold, swirling around inside the tiny vile.
Your eyes widen, as does the man's.
"Well, hi there, I'm (y/n)," you greet, "nice to meet you."
"Uh, Michio," he replies, "thanks for staying with my daughter."
You smile, looking down at the young girl who clung to his leg.
"Of course, I couldn't leave her all alone."
"Well, would you like to join us for a coffee?"
"I'd love to."
