Chapter 2
Time just continued to move quickly, I could hardly believe that I'd known Peter for over two years now. We had grown up so quickly, with us both about to be turning sixteen. Everything was going great, our grades were great and we hardly had anyone picking on us anymore, unless you count Peter's sisters.
"Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday idiot! Happy birthday to you!" I sang with Wanda.
"I hate both of you." Peter said with a pout.
"No, you don't." I said as I kissed his cheek.
"Make a wish." His mom said as she held the cake out.
"We all already know my wish. It's for-"
"If you say it out loud it won't happen." I said quickly cutting him off.
"True." He said as he closed his eyes and blew his candles out.
His mother cut the cake and handed us all a slice. We ate and talked for a while, before I left with Peter and led him to the park.
"Sixteen years old, what will you do now?" I asked with a smile.
"Don't know, might move out."
"Let's be realistic." I said with a laugh.
"I am! I'll probably move out and win your heart. We will get married and then we will have two kids." He said as he smiled down at me.
"What if I want three?"
"We can have as many as you want." He said as he sent me a smile.
We walked over to the swings and set down. I let out a sigh as I shut my eyes and pushed myself back and forth.
"So when will your parents be leaving again?" Peter asked as he set beside me.
"They are leaving in a week. They are going to Paris."
"Why aren't you going?"
"I hate traveling." I said as I rubbed my eyes.
"You travel with me all the time!"
"That's because it's you." I said as I turned and sent him a smile.
"Fallin for me already?"
"Dream on, Quicksilver." I teased as I jumped to my feet and ran from him.
"Hey! I like that name!" He yelled as he chased after me.
I knew he could catch me, but he wouldn't as he wasn't one to chest with his powers.
I let out a laugh as I ran into his house and ran downstairs. He rushed after me and grabbed my waist. I laughed as he picked me up and threw me down onto the couch, laying his body on top of mine.
"Peter! Get off!"
"To tired." Peter grumbled as he buried his face in my chest.
We stayed like this until it was time for me to return home. I hadn't wanted to leave, but I needed to spend as much time with my mom and Daniel as possible. I knew they would be leaving soon and I probably wouldn't see them for a while.
"How was the party?" Daniel asked as I climbed into his car.
"It was fun. Messed with Peter a little and then we played video games before I had to go home." I said as I clipped my seatbelt.
"Ever gonna tell him how you feel?" He teased.
"Maybe one day, but not right now."
"You'll see that you are going to kick your self for waiting so long. He is a good guy." He said as he started down the road.
"So where are you and mom going tonight?" I asked as I turned to look at him.
"Have a dinner registration with your mother. Here is some money for you guys to order pizza." He said as he handed me some cash.
"Thanks. I'll make sure David doesn't go sneak out." I said as I let out a laugh.
"He is 7, he isn't going anywhere." He said as he pulled into the driveway.
"Yet. Wait ten years and he will be sneaking out too." I said as we climbed out of the car.
"What do you mean too?" Daniel asked as I walked past him.
"I sneak out all the time. Peter bribes me with slushes." I explained.
"You are horrible." He said as he shook his head.
It wasn't long before my parents left, leaving me to watch my little brother. I ordered a pizza for us and then set down and watched David play his video game. When I heard a knock on the door I stood up and opened it.
"Pizza?" The man asked with a small smile.
"Yes, thank you." I said as I gave him the money and then took the box.
"Have a good day, ma'am." He said as he turned and walked back to his car.
"Safe trip back! It looks like it's going to rain!" I called out as I shut the door.
I smiled as I plopped down on the couch beside David and handed him a piece. I flipped through the channels and we started to watch The Muppet Show. I heard the door unlocked and I smiled as Daniel and mom walked into the house. Instantly my mother shot me a glare and crossed her arms over her chest.
"Why isn't he in bed?" Mom asked with a frown.
"What? You aren't in bed? I thought he went up a hour ago." I said in shock.
"Liar, alright it's bedtime mini me." Daniel said as he picked up David.
"(Y/n)! Help the giant is trying to capture me!" David exclaimed.
"Unhand him monster!" I said as I jumped on Daniel's back.
We all burst out laughing as Daniel carried us upstairs and threw us onto the bed.
"Alright you pesky kids, bed time." Daniel said as he smiled down at us.
"Goodnight giant." I said as I let out a laugh and pulled the covers over me and David.
"Night, I love you guys." He said as he turned off the light and walked out of the room.
"Sis, will you sleep beside me?" David asked softly.
"Why do you think I'm lying here, monkey? Of course I'll sleep with you." I said as he snuggled into my side.
I put my arm around him and closed my eyes as sleep overtook us both. The next morning I woke up to the smell of brisket, I rushed downstairs with my brother behind me and we plopped down on our seats.
"I wish you were this happy to clean your rooms."
"Come on, you know we are only happy when we are eating your brisket." I teased.
"That and when he makes seafood." David said as he grabbed some bread.
"Love your seafood." I said as I ate my food.
"What am I going to do with you two?"
"Love us with your last breath."
He laughed and ruffled our heads before he set down and ate his food. I smiled as we set and ate. I listened to Daniel as he told me about his plans for him and David when they arrived to Paris.
"I really hate that you're not going with us." Daniel said as he shook his head.
"I hate planes and I have school, unlike this little guy." I said as I ruffled my brother's hair.
"You sure you just don't want to leave your boyfriend." My brother teased.
"Come here you!"
I ran after David as he laughed and ran out of the room, Daniel laughing as he watched us run around. A week later I was saying my goodbyes to them.
"You be good." Daniel said as he hugged me.
"I will, just try not to let David sneak out." I teased.
"I still have a good ten years before that happens." He said as he turned to find David trying to climb out of the car. "Hopefully."
I laughed as mom grabbed my brother and put him back in the car. She walked up to me and pulled me into a hug.
"I love you."
"Love you too, mom." I said as I felt her kiss my forehead.
They left and I found myself making my way to Peter's, as his mom had agreed to watch me while my family was gone. After a week I was ready for them to return, I missed them terribly and had silently wished I had went with them.
"Scoot over, Speedy." I said as I plopped down beside Peter.
"This is my couch."
"I don't care, I'm cold." I said as I laid my head on his shoulder.
He let out a laugh and wrapped his arm around me as he flipped the tv on. I smiled as we watched it for a while, before the news came on interrupting our movie.
"This just in a group of Arab assassins have made an attack on a Jewish family." The news man said, causing my eyes to go wide.
"Turn it up." I said as I set up straight.
"A family of three that came to Paris with the intention of helping Paris have been attacked. Sadly there was only two survivors of the Shomron family."
"Did he just Shomron family?" I asked as fear crossed my mind.
"I'm sure there is a hundred people in Paris with that last name." Peter said as he bite his lip.
I pulled my phone out and quickly dialed my mother's number. My hands were shaking and I could hardly catch my breath, it couldn't be them. They couldn't have been hurt, there was no way.
"Come on." I whispered as I started to pace back and forth.
"42 year old Daniel Shomron was in his apartment with 7 year old David Shomron when four gunmen broke in."
I felt my phone hit the ground and I quickly covered my mouth as I held back a sob. My knees were shaking, along with my whole body. Peter rushed to my side and pulled me into his arms.
"The four gunmen along with their leader was killed when some type of blast hit them... but sadly it was too late, for one of the Shomron's."
My heart stopped and I pushed Peter away from me. I ran up to the tv and turned it up.
"Which one? Which one was it?" I asked as tears streamed down my face.
I heard a voice on my phone and I quickly spun around and picked it up.
"Mom! Are you okay?" I asked as I heard her voice.
"I'm fine." She said with a shaky sigh.
"They said one of you was killed." I said as I held back a sob.
When she didn't reply, I felt my heart shatter. A thousand questions coursed thru my mind, but there was only one that left my lips.
"Mom, is Daniel okay?"
When I didn't get a reply, I felt tears start to stream down my face. I went to speak but the sound of the news reporter talking stopped me. I slowly turned and froze as I saw Daniel's picture pop up on the screen.
"Daniel Shomron was killed after using his own body to shield that of his son's. Doctors say that if Daniel hadn't of done this that both he and David would have been kill- I'm sorry, this just in, David Shomron, the seven year old boy, for reasons unknown has just went into a coma."
I felt the phone hit the ground as my knees gave out. A scream left my lips, shaking the whole house as Peter rushed to my side and pulled me into his arms.
The trip to Paris was the longest I had ever taken. The whole time I said nothing to Peter, and he said nothing to me. Peter knew I was a wreck, he could see it on my face. I was greatful for him coming, even more greatful to my mother for allowing me to bring him.
When we finally landed a man with a sign was waiting for both me and Peter. I held my breath as the man drove us to the hospital.
"David Shomron." Peter said to the nurse at the front desk.
She gave him the room number and we slowly walked towards his room. I felt tears threaten to stream down my face as I walked in and saw David strapped to a bunch of machines. My mother was sitting in a chair next to him, his hand in hers. My mother looked like a wreck, her hair was a mess and her clothes were wrinkled and out of place.
"(Y/n)!" Mom exclaimed as she jumped to her feet and rushed up, hugging me as I let out a sob.
I clung to her as I cried, her arms wrapped tightly around me as she rubbed my back gently and kissed my forehead. It wasn't until I calmed down that she let go of me and cuffed my face, gently caressing my cheeks.
"I have to go to a meeting, but I'll be back." She said as she moved her hands away from my face.
"I'll be here with her." Peter said as he walked up to me and squeezed my shoulder.
"Thank you." Mom whispered as she sent him a smile.
My mother left and I let out a sigh. I walked up to my brother and took my mother's seat. I leaned forward and gently grabbed David's hand.
"You okay?" Peter asked as he walked up to me.
"No, there is no telling what he saw. I- Peter I can't lose my brother." I whispered as I shut my eyes.
"They think it was a mental issue, do you think you could help him?"
"I don't know, I've never done anything like that."
"I'm sure it will be fine. I'm right here beside you." Peter said as he crouched down.
"Okay, I'll try it." I whispered as I gently put my hand on both side of David's head.
I let out a sigh and closed my eyes as I concentrated on David. When I opened my eyes I was in a house. I walked around and stopped when I saw the four gunmen and their leader. They pulled their guns out and started shooting at Daniel and David.
"No!" I screamed as I saw Daniel cover David's body.
I watched as a blast hit the gunmen and they hit the wall and fell to the ground dead. My eyes went wide as I turned and saw my brother clinging to Daniel. The blast had came from him. I slowly walked up to David and saw tears streaming down his face.
"Sis?" He asked in a whisper.
"It's okay, it's okay I'm here." I whispered as I hugged him.
He held onto me tightly and I let out a sigh as I rubbed his back. I heard a voice and turned to see the leader walking towards me.
"Get out! This is my mind!" He yelled as he grabbed his gun.
My eyes started to glow as I pulled my brother closer.
"Get the fuck out of my brother's mind you bastard." I hissed out.
The room started to shake and fade as I pulled my brother closer and cleared his mind, erasing the man's conscious and the memory of Daniel's death. When I opened my eyes I was met with David's eyes open. I smiled as tears streamed down my face.
"Sis, where am I?" He asked as he looked around the room.
"Hospital, there was an accident." I whispered as I caressed his face.
"I don't, why don't I remember it?" He asked through tears.
I gently kissed his head and watched as Peter ran to get a doctor. Tears streamed down my face as I pulled my brother closer, rubbing his back as we both cried. When the doctor came in he checked my brother over and asked my brother if he remembered anything.
"It is probably from the shock. He might never remember it." The doctor explained.
"Thank you, doctor." I said as I kissed my brother's forehead.
He gave me a nod and left the room, leaving me and my brother with Peter.
"I want to go home." David said as I set beside him.
"We will be going home soon. I've already talked to mom and she is on her way." I said as I let out a sigh.
He nodded his head and I let out a sigh as I watched him fall asleep. When the door next opened, my mother was rushing up to us. David opened his eyes and she let out a sob and pulled us both into her arms.
It wasn't long before it was time to return home and we were on the plane. I watched as David set beside mom, while I set beside Peter. I let out a sigh as I laid my head on Peter's shoulder.
"You okay?" He asked as he pulled me closer. .
"No. I can't get it out of my head. I saw him die." I whispered as I closed my eyes.
"I know, I'm sorry." He said as he kissed my forehead.
When we landed Peter helped us carry everything inside the house. I let out a sigh as I passed mom's room and made my way to my own room. I stopped at the door and walked inside and picked up around the room. I let out a sigh as I saw a picture of us when we went to Germany. I gently picked it up and set down on the bed.
"You okay?" Peter asked as I rubbed my arms. .
"I'm fine, I just miss him." I whispered as I held the picture.
He let out a sigh and wrapped his arm around me as he pulled me into his arms, hugging me as tears streamed down my face.
"I know, I'm sorry." He whispered as I let out a sob.
