65: Genosha X-odus

Morph had been separated from Kurt after the Sentinels showed up and Kurt had gone off to help the others escape them.

Running the other way, Morph found more human solider were coming, just in case the Sentinels missed a few of them.

The whole prison was one big trap now.

Morph still got away from them easily enough though, he could just disguise himself.

He saw the others running, and some of them getting knocked down, but they seemed okay.

He thought he could fight the Sentinels all right.

He even knocked one over. And so far, so good.

Until...

One glance at him while he wasn't looking and knocked him out of the sky and into the dirt.

Then it all came rushing back...the helpless feeling, being closed in on...the laser blasts, one of the few things that actually hurt him, because of the nature of the weapon.

Morph lost his nerve, and scrambling up, he ran for cover.

Some of the Sentinels went after him...

The others attacked them, Morph moved farther away.

"I have to go back," he said to himself. "They need my help. This is no time to be a coward!"

But then he said. "But, I don't want to get caught again...who knows what these people will do to me?"

Was he arguing with himself.

Uh oh...

The sheer panic that gripped him was probably out of proportion to the situation. It was normal to argue with yourself...but, for Morph...?

He covered his head. "Shut up, shut up..." he muttered.

"Morph?"

A welcome different voice.

Morph looked up.

Mystique had found him. She was running from the Sentinels also, of course.

She looked like she'd been tossed around a little, but other than that, unharmed.

"Oh...hi..." Morph tried to sound like he was fine.

It didn't fool her.

"Something happened didn't it?" she said. "Why are you hiding here? We have to regroup. They won't give us long to get out of here. They'll resort to something more drastic soon."

"Yeah, yeah you're right..." Morph said. "I'm fine anyway. Just getting some distance."

He took a step forward and then he saw one of the Sentinel and he stopped. "Maybe I need a little more distance."

Mystique looked back.

"I can't fight those things," she said. "But you can. What's the problem? They're just toys."

"I know that!" Morph didn't mean to bite her head off the way he did, but it just came out that way. "I just can't help it...I thought I was over it...sometimes I am, but other times..."

"PTSD is unpredictable," Mystique seemed to speak from experience. "Enough stress the last few weeks to weaken anyone's resolve. Shine warned you."

So she'd heard that huh?

"I was fine before," Morph said. "I know...it's sad, right?"

He sighed. "I hate being babied."

"Who's babying you?" Mystique said. "You have a weakness, deal with it." She folded her arms a little. "It's foolish to ignore something like that. Being bullet proof doesn't make you invincible does it? Powerful mutants tend to forget that...there's always getting taken off guard."

"Deal with it...sure, that helps," Morph said tightly.

Mystique sighed. "Well, can't stay here. Come on."

She motioned for him to follow her. "Just have to go around these buildings, catch up with Shine, if we can."

Morph felt real pathetic right about now, but he followed her.

When Mystique was braver than you...well, okay, she was brave when she thought it was worth it, so that wasn't fair...but in a situation like this, when self preservation was the problem...that just made it worse.

"I don't even think it's being afraid to die," he said, vaguely. "It's just...instinctive almost."

Mystique shrugged.

"I'm not really afraid of most things," Morph said.

"You don't need to justify it to me," Mystique said. "Who am I to judge? It was stupid not to take it into consideration, that's all."

Harsh...but fair.

"You seem oddly okay with this kind of thing," Morph needed a distraction. "Doesn't it scare you? The giant robots."

"Of course," Mystique said. "I'm used to being afraid, fear doesn't stop me from acting...acting wisely perhaps in hindsight, but, I can't afford to freeze. I don't have friends who'd bail me out of it I did. Yours didn't when you needed them too. That's the reason I don't leave it to other people to save me."

She frowned.

"It wasn't like that, really," Morph said. "I know that...most of the time. They just did what they had to."

"Doesn't change anything," Mystique said. "The worst of relying on teammates...they won't always be there."

"But they'll try to be," Morph said. "Doesn't that count for something."

"I'm not the one with the alter ego that developed out of anger over being left behind," Mystique said.

Morph stopped. "Hey!" he said. "That's wrong...You can't just say things like that."

"The truth?" Mystique cast him a wary look. "It's just the truth."

"But that's not the whole truth," Morph said. "My friends wouldn't abandon me just like that...I shouldn't be running either."

"Morph--" Mystique began, with some alarm.

"Yeah, I should be helping them," Morph said.

He turned to run back to them.

Mystique seemed intent on stopping him, She lunged after him and tried to yank him back, but he was a little too far from her.

Instead they both stumbled around the corner and right into a whole row of soldiers who were obviously waiting for just such a pair of wayward mutants trying to escape.

Mystique stopped now.

The soldiers had guns ready.

"Oops..." Morph said.

One of them held up a scanner.

"Mutant specimen: Designated as Morph. He's on the capture list."  He must have been a commander. "The other is Mystique. She's on the dead or alive list, so, don't worry about her."

"Why am I on the capture list?" Morph wondered.

"Because they want people like you," Mystique hissed.

"Okay..." Morph said. "I have an idea for how to get out of this one. Imitate me."

Mystique saw suddenly that he might be right.

She smiled oddly and shifted into Morph.

Morph shifted into her fist, then into one of the soldiers. "Two shapeshifters..." he said. "How do you know which of us is the real Morph?"

The look on the soldiers' face were classic. You could tell they didn't have a clue.

"So we'll capture 'em both!" The commander said.

"Gotta catch us first," Morph said, he shifted into Angel and flew up over their heads.

They fired stun weapons at him, and he dodged.

Mystique knew she didn't have much of a chance to get out of sight, she couldn't fly.

Instead she turned into a cheetah and raced at one of the soldiers, the others missed her by inches with their guns.

She pounced on one and snatched the weapon out of his hand, then she turned back and fired at a bunch of them, knocking them over.

Morph knocked aside a few more who were going to attack her from behind.

Probably they could have handled this, but Mystique suddenly saw more Sentinels coming, they'd seen a mutant flying around.

Morph hadn't noticed it yet though.

Mystique kicked the feet out from under a few more men, then she ran for it.

Morph flew after her, trying to keep the rest from shooting at them.

Mystique dodged a few more shots, then one of them hit her.

Only about half of her though, but she still went down.

Morph plucked her up and just flew over a few buildings then sat down.

"Are you okay?" He reverted back to his usual form.

Mystique rubbed her side. "Yeah...yeah, it's just a stun weapon..." she winced. "Normally I'd dodge that easily. But..."

"Hey they're going to be after us, we gotta get out of here," Morph said. "Also...uh, sorry about the running out blindly thing. I didn't realize they were there."

"I was going to tell you, but you didn't give me the chance," Mystique said tersely.

"Well I was a little mad," Morph said.

"Exactly, why are you getting mad at a time like this?" Mystique said.

"Well why are you?" Morph shot back.

She bit her lip. "Fine, we'll settle this later."

She shifted into a soldier. "This might fool those idiots, but not the Sentinels, so we have to move before they get close enough to scan us."

"I do know how they work," Morph said.

"Could have fooled me," Mystique said. She took off, dodging around more of the units.

She didn't like to think about how many mutants might be in these, ones they didn't have time to rescue.

Maybe with any luck some of them would escape in the confusion...a slight change, but she had before.

They seemed to have evaded the soldiers--until they rounded a corner and they were waiting for them between two buildings.

"Did you forget we had mutant scanners?" Ono of them jeered. "Give it up, muties, you're not getting out of here. You can't teleport, we did the fact check on ya."

"Oh well," Morph put his hands up. "It looks like you've caught us."

"Yeah...now why don't you make this easier for us and tell us which of you is really Morph?" Said one.

"Where's the fun in that?" Morph said. "I'll tell you what, I'll tell you, if you let me have some final words."

"Are you saying you're not him then?" Said one.

"Well, you'd never know would you?" Morph said.

"Should just shoot both of them..." said one.

"We can't be sure they'd change back even if we did," muttered another. "What's this one's game anyway."

"Yeah, what are you doing? Mystique hissed.

"Stalling," Morph said. "It's Captain Misguided Declaration of Heroism time. Just run once I have them distracted."

"And what about you?"

"Oh, it's cool, they can't really hurt me that bad," Morph said. "I'll just give 'em the slip later."

Mystique was on the point of saying that was a stupid plan, but Morph launched into some kind of speech in a loud voice that prevented her.

[The following idea was my sister's, don't take it too seriously. It's just supposed to be funny:]

https://youtu.be/4KG3v365mq4

[This guy has mad Morph energy if you ask me.]

Mystique forgot to run for at least 10 seconds while Morph was talking.

And the soldiers went from thinking he was going to tell them something to wondering what was wrong with this guy, had he flipped?

"I think he's crazy." One said.

Mystique suddenly recalled she was supposed to be running.

She shifted into a different soldier, and no one even noticed. Then she backed around a corner.

Morph ended his rant with a few more random comments about the weather and favorite flavors of ice cream, then he punched one of the soldiers and ran into the middle of their group, shifting into one after the other so that they had no idea who was who.

Mystique, rather than just run for it on her own, slipped around the other side of the unit and grabbed the Commander while he wasn't paying attention.

She knocked him out, then took his shape and yelled at the rest of the group. "They went that way! I can scan them."

"But sir, my scanner says--" began one.

Morph caught on. "Oh shoot, I'm hitting the wrong person, quick after them!" He ran that direction.

The others followed him, confused.

Mystique pretended to follow them, then shifted instead into a different person and went around the corner again.

That was too close...

Then she spotted the Sentinels coming again.

There was no shaking these things!

She ran along the buildings again, ducking around some more A/C units also.

The squad of soldiers saw the Sentinels and ran for cover also, deciding to let the robots do their job, since they now were hopelessly confused.

Half of them had lost their trackers, Morph had snatched them off.

Mystique saw Morph double back to look for her, like an idiot, and she reached out to yank him between two walls in the nick of time before the Sentinels could scan them.

Morph almost hit her before he realized it was Mystique.

"You scared me!" he said.

"You idiot!" Mystique said. "Now was the time to fly away or something."

"But what about you?" Morph said.

Then he looked up nervously. "But that thing is getting closer..."

He shuddered. "I think I preferred the firing squad."

"What was that?" Mystique said.

"Classic distraction tactic " Morph said. "Worked didn't it?"

Mystique sighed.

"I wish robots were as easy to fool as humans..." Morph muttered.

He rubbed his head. "I'm out of ideas now...this is not good..."

He was going from confident to panicked real fast.

Mystique cast a nervous glance towards the Sentinel.

"We just have to slip between those buildings," she mused. "As long as there's no more soldiers...find the others."

"Go towards more of them?!" Morph said.

"The only way out of here is with the group," Mystique said. "Now is not the time to lose our heads, okay?"

She was afraid this would happen.

"What if they left already?" Morph said, starting to panic for real. "Again?!"

Normally he'd never think anything that irrational.

Mystique knew he couldn't help it, though.

She bit her lip.

"I can't do this..." Morph suddenly started to look a little more like Dark Morph. "They can't abandon me again! That's not right!"

Mystique thought to herself that Shine would know how to stop this...

Well...she couldn't use a mystic sword, but, she supposed one thing to do would be to try reassurance...

Not her strong point.

She grabbed Morph by the shoulder and shook him a little. "Snap out of it," she said. "They didn't abandon us, they wouldn't do that."

She couldn't believe she actually believed that...but Shine would never leave anyone behind, even if the X-men would, she knew that much. It was one of her rules.

"Think about it," she said, in a rush. "Shine wouldn't even leave me at Magneto's camp, and I wasn't even on your side then. She's not going to leave us here. All we have to do is get over there."

Morph looked like he wanted to believe that...but then he shook his head. "Maybe you're wrong... I don't want to get caught again."

"Well you're not, I'm here aren't I?" Mystique hoped this would help. Maybe if he could see her...

How did you snap someone out of trauma-induced paranoia that would turn them into their alter ego?

"Yeah..." Morph seemed to perk up slightly. "I guess that's true... Right...right..." He seemed to clear up a little.

Mystique had hope that he might regain his composure.

Unfortunately, right then, one of the Sentinels spoke very close to them.

"Scanning for mutants..."

"Oh no..." Morph grabbed his head. "It's too late."

"No, we can still move," Mystique said. "Come on." She tried to yank him away, but he locked up.

Mystique began to lose her patience.

"Morph, either you move, or I'm going to resort to something you're not going to like," she said.

"Can't..." Morph mumbled.

"Time travel, Magneto, nothing; but one stupid robot..." Mystique muttered to herself.

Well, fine, she'd had it with this.

"All right, then," she said. "You're leaving me no choice. Last resort it is."

"Maybe you should just--" Morph was going to say go on without me.

Instead Mystique yanked him up, and, with an air of determination, she kissed him squarely on the mouth.

Morph was completely shocked.

"What--?" he sputtered.

But he certainly was not curling up into a ball of panic anymore.

"Every time," Mystique said. "Come on, I can't believe you made me do that. Let's go."

She yanked him away.

Morph let her this time. No resistance whatsoever.

He seemed dazed.

Mystique thought to herself that if every supervillain's weakness was flirting, she'd have had an easier life.

But somehow they got a good distance away from the Sentinels.

And dodged a few more, while they were at it.

Mystique finally stopped, not sure where the others were.

"I can't believe you just did that." Morph sudden seemed annoyed. "Like it was nothing."

"Sorry," Mystique said, crossly. "It was all I could think of. It worked, didn't it? For whatever reason..."

Suddenly she felt a little offended. "I'm not sure why it's that horrifying..."

"It's just...you just...you can't just do things like that," Morph sputtered. "I thought I was going to have a heart attack."

Mystique looked down. "Yeah, I know," she said in a flat voice. "It's not fun for you, right? But it was life or death."

Talk about embarrassing...

She supposed this was the price she paid for what she pulled when she left the mansion. That seemed like forever ago now.

She knew it was wrong...just...not how long it would hang over her head.

Come to think of it...what a joke. With the thoughts that had been going through her head the last week or so, she'd almost forgotten about that. But...of course...Morph just wasn't the type to overlook someone using that sort of thing as a weapon.

No wonder he was horrified.

She felt worse than before.

Still, what else could she have done? Just run off alone?

Come to think of it again...she usually would have just done that.

Well, the others would have killed her if she did.

She was so busy trying to justify her actions inside her mind that she almost didn't notice more people were coming till Morph said, "Hey, aren't those more soldiers?"

"Oh..." Mystique looked up. "Right... What are you waiting for, then? Come on."

She didn't lead him this time, she just started walking.

Morph followed.

Now that he'd got his initial shock out, he thought a little more about it.

Maybe Mystique really was just trying to help...in her own weird way. It had worked in the past, right? He probably should have seen that coming.

It just caught him off guard. She always did that...

Maybe he felt a little embarrassed because of what he'd been thinking of the past week or so.

[Yeah, I know...the dual irony here is killing me too.]

Not that she knew that...

Unless she'd started to get suspicious...

Morph felt uncomfortably that the fact was, Mystique had a lot of experience. Maybe she could see through it easily, and she thought he'd not care if she just...used that to distract him...

Maybe in her mind that was okay...if it was life or death...

Well...maybe it was okay. Maybe he was just making too much out of it because it embarrassed him. It wasn't like he was doing that much to not fall apart on his own.

He almost felt a little guilty. She probably felt like he was just judging her for that and not being really grateful for the fact that she came back at all. She didn't have to. He'd told her to just go on.

Yeah, maybe he was being a jerk about it...

He had a feeling too that if he didn't say something, she was going to do the whole "never speak of this again" thing she tended to do, and if he offended her, she was not going to say it.

They passed between buildings again. The others seemed to be close from the sound of it, but still not in sight, not from this angle.

"Uh...Mystique," Morph spoke.

She stopped, looking nervous.

"Maybe I shouldn't have said that," Morph said awkwardly. "I mean, it was kind of ungrateful. Sorry."

Mystique shrugged. "I guess you can have your opinion about it. It just seemed like the right thing to do, at the time."

She looked kind of embarrassed, actually...weird to see.

"Yeah, but...I mean, you were just trying to help," Morph said. "I was just embarrassed, that's all."

"Yes...I seem to have a habit of embarrassing you." Mystique sounded kind of...ashamed? "This time, it wasn't on purpose, if that helps."

"Oh, no, I didn't think that." Morph hadn't even thought about that... Oh...that could be why she was upset.

"Sure you did." Mystique didn't buy it. "Because I wouldn't just be trying to help, right? I can't blame you, but--"

"No, shut up," Morph said. "That's not right at all...it's just awkward for me, that's all."

Mystique nodded.

She didn't look appeased.

"It's not really you." Morph tried to make it better. "It's me... You know...I've never really... I mean, I bet it's normal for you to do something like that, even just to help someone, but I've never really...so...it was just..."

"I ruined it for you?" Mystique guessed.

"No, I get it," Morph said. "Actually, I'm just kind of ashamed you had to resort to that. I wish I pulled myself together faster. I bet that was really awkward, right? But..."

"No." Mystique shrugged and looked away. "I think I'm past that point."

"Oh," Morph said.

Awkward silence.

"I suppose a nice girl wouldn't resort to that," Mystique said, in a different tone. "Just someone like me. That's what it is."

"What, are you kidding?" Morph couldn't believe she took it that way. "You came back for me. That was super nice. I'm just mad at myself for falling apart like that."

Mystique looked up, surprised.

"No, really," Morph said. "I didn't mean it like that. Like I said, it's me. I'm just...you know, terrible with this kind of thing, obviously, so..."

Mystique stepped closer suddenly, looking at him oddly.

Morph suddenly felt a little weird about this conversation.

Yeah, she probably thought he looked like an idiot right about now...

Mystique was actually thinking, This guy is just too pure for words...

Since when did she like that? She must be losing her mind.

"Sorry I broke down like that." Morph was still trying to apologize for what happened.

Mystique put hand up to cover his mouth.

Morph stopped talking, confused.

"If I try something, will you freak out?" Mystique asked.

"Try...what?" Morph said.

"An experiment," Mystique said.

She leaned forward, and, this time, she kissed him with a lot more intersectionality about it.

Morph was completely caught off guard...

If you'd asked him if he thought he'd like it if someone just did that...he would have said no, because the whole idea would have freaked him out, no warning...

For one second he did think that, but then, to his shock, it just kind of felt right...

Mystique pulled back, watching him like he might hit her or something.

"So?" she said.

"I don't get it..." Morph said.

"I'll try again," Mystique said.

And she did.

Morph decided this whole thing was just not going to make any sense.

Mystique on her part was half wondering if she'd even like it when she tried it. Morph was not her usual type, after all.

To her shock, it seemed natural...

After the second try, she stopped again.

Morph didn't seem to hate it...

"Okay...um...can you explain what's going on?" Morph said. "Are you messing with me?"

"Does it seem like I'm messing with you?" Mystique asked.

"I...well...uh..." Morph wasn't sure what to answer to that. "I can't really tell..."

Mystique was going to be offended by that, but remembered just in time that Morph probably had never done this in his life.

So instead she gave him a questioning look. "Well, I put myself out there twice, so...I'd say it's your move. What do you want?"

"What do I want?" Morph said.

"Yeah..." Mystique shrugged.

Well...if she was putting it up to him...

Morph had a feeling this might not be such a good idea...but...

He kissed her back.

Mystique leaned more into that one, like she was more sure of herself now.

But before this could go any further, they both heard crashing noises.

Mystique stepped back. "This might not be the best time," she said.

Morph swallowed. "Probably not..."

"We'll talk about it later," Mystique said. "Let's go."

She could just walk that off?

Morph's head was spinning.

Only the fact that he remembered that his friends were in danger made him refocus.

What just happened?

Oh, he was in so much trouble...

Did this mean Mystique liked him?

[Gee, I wonder...

Well, in his defense, it is kind of hard to tell with her.

I know you're all screaming either in fan ecstasy or in horror, depending on whether you ship this or not.

But for now, I'm just going to enjoy the moment.]

Everyone else had managed to regroup finally, though more and more Sentinels were joining the others.

"There's just too many." Scott was firing at them.

Wally finally found them.

"I checked all over, Shine. I didn't find anyone," he said.

"I know," Shine said. "Or you'd have them with you.... We have to go, Hon. But I don't see Morph or Raven anywhere."

"I feel like...I should know why I'm here..." Emma said oddly.

"What's wrong with her?" Wally asked.

"She did something to herself. She's still in shock," Shine said. "She's getting a little better though. We have to find them."

"I'll circle around," Wally said. "But they could have gotten captured..."

Shine knew he was right.

The others were holding off the Sentinels as best as they could.

"I can't keep this up," Kitty was gasping.

"I'm all tapped out," Jubilee agreed, shooting at one weakly. "Nice save, though, back there..."

"Oh...thanks," Kitty said. "Um, nice shot, I guess."

"Yeah, trying," Jubilee panted.

Colossus broke another one.

"They have a lot of friends," he said.

"Dis is no good," Gambit called. He blew up another one.

Rogue had been knocked hard by one and was still recovering, though she was trying to fight.

Logan was still going strong, but he was outnumbered.

The teleport they'd found wasn't doing anything to help them, just leaning on the wall looking generally unpleasant.

"What did he say his name was?" Kitty asked.

"I think he said it was John Wright, or something," Jubilee said.

"Well, is he gonna help?" Kitty gasped. "We're getting a beating here."

"He doesn't seem like he's gonna," Jubilee said.

Wally ran around and found Morph and Mystique, who were just coming their way finally.

He thought they both looked a little out of it.

"Hey, guys, come on," he said. "We have to go. What have you been doing?"

"Nothing," Morph said. "Just running from the Sentinels... We almost got caught a couple times."

"Oh, I'm sorry, man," Wally said. "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine." Morph seemed nervous. "Really."

"Please tell me you have everyone else," Mystique said.

"Actually I think we do," Wally said. "I'm just going to carry you both of it that's fine."

He snatched them up and dashed them over.

"Baby, I've got 'em," he called.

Shine looked.

"Okay, everyone, we have to go now," she said. "Get closer."

Everyone who could ran towards her.

The Sentinels tried to stop them, but somehow they dodged them. Wally grabbed some more people.

Cable and the other guy didn't really know what was happening, but they followed.

"This is no good," Shine gasped. "At this rate, the Sentinels will come with us if I open it."

Gambit stared at the tower.

"Maybe no," he said. "New Cyclops, can you shoot at de thin point on dat tower?"

"Uh...sure..." Scott said. "Why?"

"Shine." Gambit picked up a piece of rock. "Can you send dis where he hit?"

"Sure..." Shine said.

Gambit charged the rock.

Scott shot at the tower and made some kind of dent in the sides of it.

The Sentinels stopped, confused.

Wally ran around them, kicking up dust to make it harder for them to see the mutants.

Shine sent the rock to where Gambit had directed her.

A moment later, it exploded, and the tower fell toward all of them.

They rushed back, while the Sentinels were still distracted by the dust, and the tower came crashing down on the robots instead.

Shine opened a doorway before the dust even settled, and Wally herded everyone inside as fast as he could.

* * *

The plane ride was not fun.

Most of it was spent explaining to Cable and the other guy--whose name was Wraith, not Wright, but the John was correct--about the situation.

They weren't too happy to hear it.

"I knew something like this would happen eventually," Cable said. "Some nut would get too cocky with this time stuff."

"Nuts like you," Shine said. "I have a whole list of issues with how you use time travel, Cable. You could be part of the problem here, so don't get me started."

"Hey, I save people," Cable said.

"They all say that." Wally shrugged.

Emma's memory returned on the flight, and she rubbed her head.

Shine scolded her for what she did--mildly.

"I don't care how upset you are," she said, "hurting yourself is not okay. Please, give me some assurance you will never do that again. Emma, please."

Emma looked at her vapidly.

"I have no wish to repeat that experience," she said in a dead sounding voice.

"Good," Shine sighed. "I was worried about you."

"Why?" Emma muttered.

"Because, your safety matters to me," Shine said seriously. "And not just because of what's going on. I like you, Emma. Don't do things to yourself that will make us sad, please."

Emma gave her a befuddled look, like she had no idea what this meant.

Shine sighed and went to sit next to Mystique.

"I think she has more problems than you do," she said.

"Thanks," Mystique said.

"Sorry, I didn't mean that," Shine said. "I just...I'm just tired of people doing things that aren't good for them...just because they're upset. Not thinking of what it does to the rest of us."

"It's not so easy to think of that when you're focused on what you're going through," Mystique said. "Frost doesn't mean anything by it. She's just being thick, as usual."

"You seem oddly optimistic right now," Shine said.

"Well, we got out alive. That was more than I was expecting by the end," Mystique said bluntly.

"It was too close." Shine put her face in her hands. "I need a break from all this...seriously... Even just one day of it not getting worse would be great."

"Maybe we'll hit a lull." Wally rubbed her shoulder.

"At least we're okay, Sugar." Rogue tried to help. "It was close, but we made it."

"Yeah, and turns out, Kitty has mad skills," Jubilee said. "So...and I got a few too."

Kitty looked at Jubilee oddly. "Well...I've been training with you guys for weeks," she said, with surprising modesty. "Guess it paid off. It was close a few times."

"We did good," Colossus said.

"So where are we going?" Cable finally asked.

"The mansion," Rogue said. "Professor X is just goin' to love this..."
