Now to those of you who aren't familiar with Dying Light, a Volatile is one of the zombie types from the game. You are a sentient one which would normally mean that you still have a your free will in any type of ultraviolet light. I'm tweaking that a little bit, you are normal most of the time, but when heavily injured you turn into this and still get to keep your free will.

Now that that's out of the way.

You were going through the lifeless wasteland of a city you called home looking for... well anything really: Supplies, ammunition, survivors, medicine, maybe some records or CDs or cassettes. Then you heard a female scream followed by gunshots. You quickly ran in the direction it came from knowing that they were in very real danger. When you got there you leaped from the rooftop you were on and landed on a zombie, plunging a makeshift knife into it in the process. You stood up straight and looked at the people you had just helped. Two women and a man with a gun.

(Y/N): Are you folks okay?

????: Yes, although we didn't really need your help.

(Y/N): You aren't from around here are you.

They nodded their heads.

(Y/N): I thought so. A word of advice use that gun sparingly. The infected around here are attracted to any kind of noise. Oh right, you fired it earlier. (sigh)

You unsheathed your Tanto machete and decapitated the Viral that had been attracted by the noise.

(Y/N): God, I hate those things. You take care of yourselves, and remember what I told you about that gun, there'll be more than one next time.

You put your machete over your shoulder and started walking away whistling (random song). Later you were looting a stash you had found and heard a zombies' screech. You ignored it at first, but then you heard something that made you bolt upright.

????: ZERO!

You dropped everything and ran, then quickly went back for a green hatchet you had found and went back to running. You found them and threw your grappling hook into a nearby tree and used the momentum to dropkick the biter over a barricade and into the ocean.

(Y/N): Are you ok?

????: Yes, thank you for helping us again.

(Y/N): No problem. Might I ask your names? I'm realizing that I forgot to ask last time.

????: I'm Ciel and this is my friend Zero.

(Y/N): Well it's nice to meet you lovely ladies. I'm (Y/N).

Your comment made them blush slightly. You chuckled softly and smiled.

(Y/N): You know what, you two seem nice. Follow me.

You motioned to them and they, reluctantly, followed you to your actual home. A big yellow house with the doors on the ground floor boarded up, spiked barricades under the windows, toppled fences with electric cables running to them, and floodlights with UV light bulbs as opposed to normal ones.

(Y/N): Almost at our destination.

You climbed up the side of the house and, after helping Ciel up, went in through the a hatch on the roof.

(Y/N): Welcome to my home. Or as I like to call it, The Bunker. We've got everything one needs to survive. Food, clean running water, medicine, electricity, two full bathrooms, and a computer. Enjoy because Mi casa es su casa.

Ciel: Thank you (Y/N). Is there anything we can do to repay you?

(Y/N): Just tell me when you decide to go outside.

You looked out the window, then at your watch.

(Y/N): Looks like we'll be staying in for now.

Zero: Why?

(Y/N): There's three types of zombie here: Biters, Virals, and Volatiles. The Volatiles are the most dangerous of the three, and if one spots you then everything goes to hell and dozens more start coming after you. Their only weakness is ultraviolet light, as it reacts with their skin in some way, so they only come out at night because the sun's intense UV radiation kills them. And that's why we're staying inside for the night. 

They looked at you for a second.

(Y/N): Would you like me to show you to your rooms?

  Ciel: Yes, that would be nice.

(Y/N): Follow me.

You led them through the house's various rooms until you reached said bedrooms, which were next to each other.

(Y/N): Here you are. Do whatever you need to settle in. Holler if you need me.

You went downstairs to the kitchen and started making some nachos for your guests. You finished making the chips from corn tortillas and went to tell your guests that dinner was ready. You got to Ciel's room and saw she had wasted no time in redecorating. (Insert description of what her room looks like here).

(Y/N): Ciel, I've made dinner would you like to come downstairs and eat?

Ciel: Okay.

She walked past you and went downstairs. Then you checked on Zero to see how she's settled in. You saw that her room was wildly different from Ciel's. For the most part it was the same as it was before, but she had moved the nightstand and put some type of sword hilt on it. She was lying on the bed and looking at the ceiling.

(Y/N): Hey Zero want to come downstairs? Me and Ciel are eating.

Zero: Sure.

(Y/N): Woman of few words I see.

You walked to the kitchen and saw Ciel with a confused expression on her face.

(Y/N): What would you like on your nachos? I've got beans, meat, jalapenos.

She smiled and began listing off what she wanted and Zero did the same.

After dinner the three of you were sitting at the table, stuffed, and smiling.

Zero: Those were delicious (Y/N) thanks.

(Y/N): Happy to hear that.

You got up and went upstairs.

(Y/N): I'm going to sleep. If anyone needs anything just wake me up.

You yawned and continued going up the stairs. You walked into your room and changed into a baggy yellow shirt and a pair of gray sweatpants before getting in your bed and looking at the ceiling.

(Y/N): I really hope they don't find out about my secret. Then I'll scare them off, just like everyone else.

You closed your eyes as a lone tear made its way down your cheek. The next day you were showing your new friends around the city.

(Y/N): And here we have a bunch of useless buildings. And that concludes our tour of the quarantine.

You pulled out the hatchet from yesterday and started tossing it up and down.

(Y/N): I hope you guys enjoyed the tour I know I did.

Ciel: I enjoyed your tour. So many interesting sights: The fishing village, The Stuffed Turtle, the towers.

Zero: Me too. You sure know your way around this place.

(Y/N): Yep. I know this place like the back of my hand. Ya know, I really should AX myself the question. What happens when I throw this?

You caught the hatchet and, in one swift motion, threw it into the face of a biter.

(Y/N): I think that's enough for one day.

You grabbed the hatchet and went back home. Later that day you were talking to your guests.

(Y/N): How'd the two of you get here?

Ciel: We were working on a teleportation device when it malfunctioned and exploded. The explosion didn't hurt us, but it did take me, Zero, and one of our guards here.

(Y/N): Yeah, what actually happened to him?

Ciel's eyes began to tear up.

Zero: She doesn't want to say, but I will. He was bitten by one of those monsters and at first he was fine, but two hours later he turned into one of them.

(Y/N): And I dropkicked him into the ocean.

You moved over to Ciel and gave her a hug as she cried into your chest.

(Y/N): It's okay. Just let it all out.

You held onto her until she stopped crying, then she returned the hug.

Ciel: Thank you (Y/N).

(Y/N): Anything for a friend.

She smiled and let go.

(Y/N): (yawns then rubs eye) I'm going to go to bed. Goodnight you two.

You went upstairs and to bed. In the middle of the night you woke up from a weight on your chest and a slight constrictive feeling. You opened your eyes to see both Ceil and Zero sleeping on your chest and smiling. You gave both a kiss on the cheek and put one arm around each of them before going back to sleep. The next morning you found them waiting for you downstairs, looking ready for the day. A few minutes later you were out and scavenging. It looked like you'd be able to do some trading later. That is until you were ambushed by looters, but not just any looters.

Tahir: (Y/N), what a surprise. I wasn't expecting to see you here.

(Y/N): Nor was I Tahir. How's the back.

Tahir: Still sore from when you maimed me.

(Y/N): Yeah. Well now I regret not finishing the job.

You drew your tanto machete and lunged towards Tahir. The two of you continuously traded blows then after breaking both your kukri and tanto machetes, and mildly wounding Tahir, he started throwing his men at you (metaphorically speaking of course). You dropped the broken remains of your kukri machete and drew your knife.

(Y/N): COME AT ME SCRUBLOARDS. I'M FUCKING RIPPED!

After dealing with them Tahir started to laugh. That's when you noticed that Ciel and Zero were gone.

(Y/N): Where are they?!

Tahir: If you want them back then you'll have to get them from me.

(Y/N): I swear to God when I'm done with you you'll wish you had thrown yourself into that nest instead of me.

Tahir: We'll see.

He walked away leaving you to plan your next move. You went home and immediately began making weapons. Two to be exact using the blueprints your father had left to you you made two machetes the two strongest machetes ever to be used in the quarantine, Korek machete ver. 1 and Korek machete ver. 2.

(Y/N): Alright, let's knock some heads.

You made your way to Tahir's base of operations, an old apartment complex that he had turned into a garrison. Once inside you pulled out your shotgun and started tearing through the place. When you ran out of shells you started using your M16, and after you ran out of rifle ammo you started using your revolver and machete #1. Finally you made it to the end of Tahir's gauntlet.

Tahir: You've finally made it Mr. (L/N).

(Y/N): Oh SHUT UP! Just get down here and we can settle this.

Tahir: Fine, but first.

Tahir pushed a button and a crane began moving a shipping container that was spray painted to look like a present. After the box landed a giant zombie in riot gear burst out from it and charged towards you. You dodged the charge and hit the monster breaking off a piece of its armor. You continued to do this until your weapon broke then you used machete #2 to finish the job.

Tahir: Impressive. Bring them out.

Two of his men brought the tied up Ciel and Zero out and dropped them at his side.

Tahir: If you want them then you have to survive. KILL HIM!!!

He released swarms of his soldiers and Ciel and Zero looked on in horror as you were overtaken by the massive horde. They beat you close to the point of death and just when you were about to accept it, you transformed. The ones that were on the pile tried to hit you and the ones that weren't tried to get away. They soon found out their efforts were futile. You ripped them to pieces and the ones that survived you smashed into a wall. Tahir looked on in fear as you mercilessly killed every last man he had. When you were finished you jumped onto the platform with him. He backed up into a corner and tried to throw knives at you, but you shrugged the insignificant little flea bites off. When you got to him he tried to swing at you with his machete. You caught his arm forcing him to drop the weapon, he looked into your glowing yellow eyes and as he did so you could see the fear in his.

Tahir: (Y-Y-Y/N) I'm willing to make a deal wi-AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!

You interrupted him by breaking his arm and shoving him against the wall. You dug your claws into his torso and ripped off a chunk of flesh.

(Y/N): (deep, distorted, gravely voice) I don't make deals with the likes of you Tahir. Now I should just leave you here to die in agony.

Tahir: Then what's stopping you?

Your jaw split open revealing the razor sharp teeth and elongated tongue.

(Y/N): (deep, distorted, gravely voice) Because you're not the type of loose end to leave untied.

You used your tongue and teeth to rip out Tahir's esophagus. Before turning to the girls. You shut your jaw and untied them before using your enhanced athletic abilities to leave. Later you were at home and back to normal sitting on your couch and crying. Then you felt two pairs of arms wrap around you.

(Y/N): (normal voice) What?

You looked and saw that Zero and Ciel had come back and were now hugging you.

Ciel: There, there. Let it all out.

Zero: It's okay.

(Y/N): You *sniff* don't think I'm a freak?

Zero: Not at all.

Ciel: And even if we did you'd be our freak.

Then they both gave you a kiss on the cheek.

Zero: And that's for saving us again.

You smiled and wiped away a tear before returning their hugs.

(Y/N): I love you two.

Zero and Ciel: And we love you.
