As you can read above you are Zero, and I'm going to be using that instead of (Y/N) for this story. I only typed that so I don't any questions along the lines of "Why do I not see (Y/N) anywhere in this entire thing?" Nothing aside from the story is property of me, but you probably know that by now.

You had been "discreetly" following your best friend X down a highway as it was being attacked by mavericks. She was doing well, until Vile came down from a dropship in a beastly mech and beat the shit out of her. Vile was choking her out and probably about to kill her when you released a charged shot from your buster and blew the arm that was holding her off. After chasing Vile off with another charge shot you turned to X. You knelt down to her and protectively hugged her.

Zero: Are you okay?

X: Yeah, I'm okay. Thanks Zero.

You let go and helped her up. Once she was on her feet she looked down in sadness.

Zero: Don't beat yourself up, some day you'll be as strong as me.

X: Thanks for the encouragement.

Zero: Always happy to give some out.

[Timeskip]

You had met X at the gates of Sigma's fortress and gave her a few motivational words before running inside and encountering Vile again. After losing, and watching X lose to him again, you broke free of the cage and latched onto the back of Vile's mech, overloading your buster to give her a fighting chance against him. You looked at her one last time, shed a tear of oil, and then nothing.

[Timeskip]

Soon after the first defeat of Sigma he came back and had his henchmen steal your parts from the lab they were kept at, or so you were told. All you did know was that you had just destroyed Sigma's cheap copy of you with your brand new Z saber.

Zero: You should have studied the blueprints better Sigma!

After scaring him off you turned to X and smiled.

Zero: Thanks for getting me back from them X.

X: I couldn't let them keep their hands on you especially not with your new upgrades.

She smirked and you gave her a hug.

X: What the?

Zero: X, seriously. Thank you, I don't know what I'd do if I hurt you.

X: Zero, what are you talking about?

Zero: X don't you get it by now? I love you.

X: What? Since when?

Zero: For the longest time, ever since I met you.

X hesitantly hugged you back.

Zero: What's wrong?

X: I just don't know what to say. You've had these feelings bottled up for so long, and now I can finally say that I was right. I knew you had feelings for someone I didn't know who.

Zero: That's pretty articulated X.

She laughed and let go prompting you to as well.

Zero: I should be getting back to base now. After all, we'll get plenty of time to get lovey dovey after you defeat Sigma.

You gave her a warm smile and left.  You were about to teleport back to base when you decided to sit on a cliff and watch the fireworks. After they ended you went back to base where you found X waiting for you.

Zero: Thought you liked to admire your work.

X: I do, but not as much as I like to admire you.

Zero: (sweatdrops) Okay, dial it back a bit X that's a little creepy.

X: Okay. 

You gave her a caring hug and she returned it with a smile on her face.

Zero: What do you want to do?

X: Want to go get dinner?

Zero: We don't eat people food.

X: I know that fully. 😉

Zero: (realizes what she means and sweatdrops again) You'd better be scanning your system for viruses.

X: I scan every night.

Zero: You better with what you're probably searching.

X simply chuckled as she rest her head on your shoulder.

X: I hope nothing ever tears us apart.

Zero: I do too.

[Timeskip]

X: Zero?

She said in disbelief as you slowly floated to the ground surrounded by a menacing aura.

Zero: X. I'm happy, for the first time in a while I'm truly happy.

X: No, this isn't you, this isn't the person I fell in love with.

Zero: I can assure you it's me X. I've just realized my true purpose.

X: (tears well up in corners of her eyes) Please Zero, don't make me do this! I don't want to hurt you.

You drew your beam saber.

Zero: (chuckles evilly) That makes one of us. Have at you!

[After the X vs Zero fight]

X was crying while holding what was left of you after your fight, crying.

X: (sobbing) Zero I'm so sorry.

Zero: X.

X: What is it?

Zero: X. (puts hand on her cheek) You have such a beautiful face, don't ruin it with those tears.

X: Zero, please save your energy. You're going to make it.

Zero: X, we both know I'm not going to. I might as well get this out while I still can. I love you X.

X: I know Zero.

Zero: (slowly lowers arm) Just remember that for the rest of your life. That's the best possible way you can honor me.

X: I will Zero. I promise you that I will.

Zero: (smiles) Perfect. (slowly closes eyes and goes limp)

X: Goodbye Zero.

She held your body close and cried.  In the following weeks she slowly got over the loss, but despite this she still blames herself for what happened.  Little did she know that the two of you would be reunited, but not in death.

Nobody's P.O.V.

Two humans are cleaning up corpses from Resistance soldiers and were conversing to pass the time.

Random 1: I hate cleanup duty. How about you Dave?

Dave: Me too Mike, but you have to admit that this is better than being on the front lines.

Mike: Yeah you got me there.  (hoists corpse into portable incinerator) I heard that they cornered a leader of the Resistance here, slippery bugger got away though.

Dave: I'd hate to be the one to tell Harpuia that news.

Mike: Poor bastard, they won't even be sent to the junkyard. She'll destroy them on the spot.

Dave: Reminds me of the Sargent back when we were in Civil Protection.

Mike: Yeah. He didn't yell at people, he would just stare at them, and sometimes they'd disappear. Good thing they never let us anywhere near high ranking officers.

Dave: Unlike now where we have to report to Harpuia and every day is a roll of the dice. Before we would just be able to submit a written report at the station's front desk if the boss was crabby, and go to the bar or get something to eat afterwards. Now, we have to report directly to her and hope she's in a good enough mood that we don't become scapegoats.

Mike: Yeah. Good thing we get to basically do what we did when we were in Civil Protection.

Dave: Except now there's nobody to stare at us when we goof off.

They went further into the deserted building pushing the floating disposal unit along with them.

Dave: Good lord this was a slaughter.

Mike: Exactly. I told you that we were on the right side of this. Neo Arcadia has more resources, better technologies, better tactics, and they manufacture their soldiers by the dozens.

Dave: I now understand what you were talking about.

Mike: Come on, the sooner we clean these up the sooner we can get wasted.

Dave: (sighs) All right.

Mike: That's the spirit. (hikes another body into incinerator) I may give these people crap and call them stupid, but at least they're doing their best. They've annoyed the people at the top of command, it takes a lot to make frustration travel upwards like that.

Dave: Really makes you wonder what they're doing to make that happen.

Mike: As long as it doesn't affect me I don't care. Looks like that's the last one here.

Dave: Guess we've got to go deeper into the rabbit hole.

They continued into the deepest part of the ruined building and found something interesting.

Mike: Hey Dave, you see that?

Dave: Yeah, what is it?

Mike: I was going to ask if you knew.

Dave: We should probably tell her about this. Hey, I dare you to touch it.

Mike: Two things. One, no I'm not stupid, if I touch it and something happens then my ass is grass if it's important. Two, that's clearly a dude.

Dave: How can you tell?

Mike: Female reploids have some resemblance of a bust. This guy is completely flat. Also, there's a crotch bulge.

Dave: We should probably report this as soon as possible. I'm really hungry.

About an hour and a half after they left someone returned, the Guardian Harpuia and with her a small squadron of pantheons.

Harpuia: Could it be? It is. (to pantheons) Find some way to get him back to Neo Arcadia. And be careful with him too. If any of you end up damaging him Master X will personally destroy you!

After finding a way through the barrier surrounding him they all lifted him up and carefully took him outside.

Harpuia: (smirks) We'll be getting a handsome reward for this.

[Timeskip]

P.O.V. Zero, second person

You slowly regained consciousness, feeling sluggish from how long your body has been dormant.

Zero: (in head) Ugh, what's going on?

????: What was so important that you four had to urgently request audience with me, Harpuia?

Harpuia: Master X, I have brought with me something that I believe will make you very happy.

X: If you're so confident then tell me what it is.

Harpuia: Bring him forward.

You felt your body move in response to the order, and felt yourself being gently laid on a hard surface.

X: Is that?

You heard footsteps approaching you and when they finally reached you a hand gently touched your face.

X: (shocked) I can't believe it, it's actually him. You four have done well. Leave us, you'll get your reward when I'm done.

Harpuia & three other voices: (in unison) Yes, Master X.

You heard four sets of departing footsteps before a second hand was placed against your other cheek. This only lasted for a few seconds before they left your face and moved to other places on your body, one arm wrapped around your knees and the other went around your back. The person picked you up and carried a short distance before placing you upright in a chair.

Zero: (groans)

X: Zero?

You slowly opened your eyes hearing the voice of your girlfriend. Once your vision cleared up you saw her beautiful face twisted into a frown of worry.

Zero: (groggily) X?

After hearing this she smiled and hugged you tightly.

X: Oh my god, Zero it's really you! I missed you so much.

Zero: W-what happened?

X: You don't remember?

Zero: I really don't.

She let go of you and sat down.

X: You became infected with the Maverick Virus and I had to fight you. I won and you died in my arms.

Zero: How am I here?

X: We used some parts we had lying around to awaken you.

A small smile appeared on your face.

Zero: You did that for me?

X: Of course, I love you.

Zero: Thank you so much X. I'm glad you kept that promise, and didn't forget me.

X: I could never do that Zero.

She hugged you close and you weakly hugged back.

X: We have a lot to catch up on now, shall we?

Zero: That would be nice.

{Timeskip}

Zero: So there's a group of mavericks?

X: Yes.

Zero: And they call themselves the resistance?

X: Yes, what about it?

Zero: That's not a good thing. It implies that you're doing something wrong.

X: (sweating) What do you mean?

Zero: You aren't doing something that would cause them to do this?

X: No, (low voice) aside from retiring reploids regardless of whether or not they've gone maverick.

Zero: WHAT!

X: As long as there are reploids that can go maverick, humans will never be safe.

Zero: That's not what the X I knew believed. She believed in peace between reploids and humans, not killing innocent reploids because they can go maverick. What happened to her?

X: SHE GREW UP AND REALIZED REPLOIDS ARE TOO DANGEROUS TO LIVE ALONGSIDE HUMANS!

You began to tear up looking at her.

Zero: X.

X: WHAT!

Zero: What happened while I was gone?

X: What are you talking about?

In her rage X had transformed into a seraph-like form and was towering over you. She realized this and hurriedly changed back.

X: (sighs) I'm sorry that tends to happen when I loose my temper. As I was saying, as long as reploids can go maverick and cause harm to humans then peace cannot be maintained.

Zero: Then I guess I can't stay.

X: (confused) What do you mean?

Zero: Remember? I'm patient zero, the first reploid to carry the virus.

X: (growls) Fine I'll divert resources to 'curing' the virus. Will that make you fell better?

Zero: Yes. But until then I must leave.

You jokingly turned around and left to walk out the door. Little did you know X had a plan for that in case it happened.

X: (smirks) Have it your way. (loudly to the group that has been standing outside the door this whole time) You can have your turn with him now!

Zero: What are you on abou-

You didn't get the chance to finish the question before you were buried under a dogpile of other women that also had a thing for you.

Zero: (struggling) Get off me!

X: Meet the four guardians, the generals of my armies: Fighting Fefnir, Sage Harpuia, Fairy Leviathan, and Hidden Phantom. And since you're so worried about becoming a maverick and hurting someone they'll take turns watching you one at a time when you're not with me. I'll get some paperwork done while they have their fun with you.

Zero: (panicked) Wait, no. DON'T LEAVE ME WITH THEM!

X: (smiles and waves goodbye) Love you.

Zero: (muffled cries for help come from the pile as his hand disappears into the pile of women smothering him)
