Archer reader short story

Okay, I know I've been gone a while, the last time I wrote anything was back in September-Fall and the last time I did anything in this book was almost a year ago. Now I'm not gonna try and make some kind of excuse or try to garner sympathy. Lately I've been struggling to manage my schoolwork and I've mostly cut writing out of my schedule to do that, and on the weekends and breaks from work I just have no motivation to do anything other than sitting on my ass and watching TV and YouTube or playing Payday, Hitman, Sekiro, and Ghost of Tsushima. I'm sorry, I genuinely am this isn't a fake Logan Paul or Tmartin apology where I'm milking all this for sympathy and I'm only apologizing for getting caught, mostly because the people that care probably left back in June, I am sorry for procrastinating and leaving for almost a damn year. So, as a belated Christmas present and attempt to start 2021 off on the right foot I give you this, I've had this idea for a while and planned to do it after finishing my other two drafts, and as a result of that I didn't really come up with a series to insert the main character. But I know that if I wait for my procrastinating ass then this story will never get written.

I don't want to reveal what you look like because that would give away the end of the story, I was so dedicated to not prematurely revealing the ending I edited a video together as to not do that. All I'm willing to tell you is that you're simply an archer, bow and arrows.

There's no specific series this takes place in, but I might come back and add one later. Let's get into this.

=============================================================================

(Y/N): Hey there, nice to meet you. I'll be accompanying you for today. Call me (Y/N).

Most of your life you've been a humble bowman, that's all you aspired to be. It's a simple life, your responsibilities all but amount to chopping firewood, getting vegetables from store in town, hunting for meat, and occasionally being a guest in classes to teach others that aspire to become archers themselves. Today you were asked by a group of adventurers to accompany them through the area due to your knowledge of the forest and mountains and valley.

(Y/N): *leading the group through the valley* On this side of the mountain there isn't much to worry about, it's the forest you need to worry about.

You did the job and parted ways with the group. A couple weeks later they came back and you did the job again, for months they kept going back and forth and they became your friends, even teaching the party's bowman some of your secrets.

(Y/N): Now, you see in order to get the most out of a shot you need to pull the string back in just the right way. It's easier for me since my bow is custom made but learning the right way to pull is a valuable skill so I strongly recommend you figure it out with regular bows first before spending extra on one that'll take months to finish.

This continued for a while when one day something happened, the sky darkened, and skeletal creatures began attacking. You joined the other warriors in defending against them, shattering skulls with arrows with unreal accuracy. Eventually they stopped, a brief reprieve for you and your fellow defenders.  Suddenly the adventurers you had been helping for the past month arrived, warning of a terrible monster approaching. Shortly after their warning the beasts launched another assault.  Even with their help you wouldn't be able to hold them off forever especially not with the injuries all of you were sustaining. And the promise of something worse coming didn't help with morale. There were few options left, and you chose the one that would save the village, the people, and everything you cared about.

(Y/N): *speaking to the adventurers* Listen, I need all of you to stay here.

Archer: Where are you going with those injuries?

(Y/N): The top of the mountain will give me the best vantage point. And please, this is just a flesh wound.

With that you said goodbye to your friends and ran as fast as you could towards said mountain, not looking back for even a second lest you see the swarm closing in and lose your nerve. Climbing to the peak you looked out at the incoming swarm and the massive creature they warned you about. Taking a deep breath you took your last arrow in hand, thinking back on your life you notched the projectile, and as you pulled back you began a chant.

(Play the song as you read what's below)

(Y/N): O' holy Lord.

O' radiant Lord who bestowed wisdom, sanctity, and strength upon me.

People from all around could see the peak glowing as you prepared it.

(Y/N): I call upon thee to witness my heart, my thoughts, and everything I've achieved.

Now, creator of the moon and stars. Behold my deeds, my death, and my sacred devotion.

After I unleash this last arrow with all my strength-

-Even my iron body shall shatter, and be annihilated where I stand!

With those last words it was ready and you prepared to fire what would be the last arrow to ever be loosed by your hand. One final cry echoed across the land, heard by all.

 (Y/N): STELLA!!!

You let go, the sheer force of the shot snapping your bow in half, and breaking what was left of your body. The arrow cut through the darkened sky like a shooting star in the night, culminating in a massive explosion on impact, obliterating the leader of the monsters, and bringing an end to the nightmare. Although, you weren't there to see it all, so that's your best guess as to what happened. Regardless of what the exact events were one thing is for certain,

The archer known as (Y/N) will forever be remembered as a hero of the land.

{End}

So, what did you think? This concept was actually going to be made into a full story, but I realized it's better suited for a one-off before I started writing it. That's all for now. Happy belated holidays and here's hoping 2021 will be at least slightly better than 2020, sincerely doubt it will be.

And yes that is my youtube channel, don't go there you're not gonna find anything, I edited that video together in about an hour and a half, not too bad for my first time using editing software.
