x You x

You sit uncomfortable as the ragged breathing sounds in your head once again. It's been bothering you constantly. Making it hard to focus.

You glance at the clock and for the umpteenth time you wish it would move faster.

It has been days since you last picked up the book. You realized you had been so absorbed in it you were falling behind in your duties and responsibilities. Though the longer you wait the louder it gets.

You had left the book on your bed to stop temptation yet, even now it echoes in your ears. You then begin to wonder... Am I losing my mind?

You shake the thoughts off and get back to work before anyone else notices your slacking once again.

~~~~
You hurry inside your house thankful that the day is done. You hurry to your desk to get out your things. You begin to work quickly and furiously as the breathing gets louder and louder. You clutch your head completely annoyed and frustrated.
"Fine!" You shout at nothing. Then you proceed to practically fling yourself upon your bed next to the book.
By now the breathing is so loud it's practically deafening. You place a hand on the mysterious journal and sigh in relief as breathing stops. You take your hand off and enjoy the nice silence before it begins once again.
You groan and curse to yourself before opening to your page.
When I open my eyes what I saw is not what I expected. Well I'm not exactly sure what I expected from two people who just wanted to kill me.
I'm laying on a couch in a living room? I slowly push myself into a sitting position and look around the room. I'm in a modern living room with cave and or dirt like walls. Though it's hard to tell with the amount of books on shevles in front of them. A second couch is across from me and coffee table in between.
On the opposite couch sits the girl from earlier. Her eyes flicker up from her book to me for a moment but she rolls her eyes and looks back to her book. I look around once again and notice an attached kitchen and a hallway leading elsewhere. But the most important thing I see is a door.
I stand quickly and instantly regret it. My side burns like it is falling off. My vision turns blurry.
"I wouldn't do that," A voice says and hands grab me steading me. I am placed back on the couch.
"She hit you pretty hard." My vision focuses once again and my eyes land on the boy. He holds out a small vial. "Drink."
"Why should I trust you?" I ask.
"It's a healing potion. Also, you're in my home and hurt. You don't have much say in anything. I won't hurt you. I can't say the same for my sister."
I stare in his eyes and take the vial. I open it slowly and then throw it back in one go. A warm feeling spreads through me before it all numbs the pain in my side. A breathe a sigh of relief.
"Thank you," I tell him. He nods once before sitting next to his sister.
"I should be thanking you. I have no idea how, but I took your life force and your still alive... I'm not complaining, but it's strange. You are strange. I saw your eyes change to red and you also can summon the dead... Ha. And you said a Witch and Demon was a strange combination.
"I guess I should introduce myself. My name is Mecezark. This is my sister Asis. And this is our home we have built underground. Now, what is your name?"
"Alix. And yes I'm a Necromancer and a Demon. Dare you tell anyone and I will report you," I threaten. They nod. "So... Meczach, que-"
"Mecezark," He corrects.
"Mecezah?"
"Mecezark."
"Can I call you something else? Cez?"
He sighs. "Since your too incompetent to say my name correctly, you may call me Cez."
"Don't call me incompetent! I will slit your throat with my..."
"We have your weapons in the other room."
"Can I take them and leave then?"
"Yes," Asis answers immeaditely.
"No," Cez corrects. "I have a proposition for you."
You are about to turn to the next entry when you hear a knock on your door. Confused you head to open the door and meet the gaze of a livid Kayla. She brushes past you into the home and glares. This time there is no mistaking it.
Her eyes are dark purple.
Tendrils of purple light surround her like a strange aura.
"Can I help you?" You ask confused.
"Can I help you!?" She shouts. "You almost ruin my mortal life and that's all you say."
"Mortal life? What are you talking about?" You ask playing dumb.
"I haven't stopped thinking about how you called me a Witch," Kayla admits. "You didn't mean it as an insult. You meant it as a fact. You know I am Witch. So what are you? We've known each other for years. Yet you never mentioned anything before..."
"Look Kayla I have no idea what your talking about." She doesn't answer and instead circles you.
"Not a Relisk... Not Aie, you have a fear of heights unless that was an act..." She continues to mutter to herself.
"Would you stop making up words Kayla!" You shout.
"Stop the acting! And just tell me what you are!" She shouts closing the distance between the two of you. Her eyes showing how clear it is that she is threatening you.
"I'm nothing! I'm me! And your freaking me out!" You hold up your hands in an I-surrender manner. Not realizing the book is still in your grasp.
Kayla looks at the book and her eyes widen in alarm. "W-where did you get that?"
"From the library. It's a fantasy book," You lie easily. Kayla's eyes flicker between you and the book.
"Let me see it," she demands. You shake your head and hold it close to you like a life line.
"No. Check it out after to me if you want to read it so bad or you can get it from another library."
Kayla's eyes rest once again on the book. "Give me that right now. It's dangerous."
"This is a book."
"Either give it to me or this friendship ends now," She warns looking you in the eye.
"You know where to the door is," You say before you even realize it came out of your mouth. You open your mouth again to apologize but something holds you back.
Kayla glares at you then at the book in your grasp before wrenching open the door and storming out. You close the door behind her and sulk up to your room. And sit on your bed. Frowning at the book in your hands.
Since when is a book more important to you than your friends?
Frustrated you throw the book across the room.
You let a scream escape and look down at your ankle to see a skeletal hand clasped to it. You try to scream but the sound dies in your throat.
The hand disappears and you pull your legs back up on the bed. Trying to convince yourself that it's nothing. That's your insane. Because insanity is better than that- that thing being real.
You try to calm your breathing as you notice the book sitting next to you. Open. Red bold letters on the page.
Never throw me.
Now read.
You stare at the book so many questions running through your mind. Hands shaking you reach to pick up the book. Afraid of what will happen if you don't. As soon as you touch it turns to the correct page.
You take a breath and let your eyes wander the page.
