You blink open your eyes with a groan. To find three pairs of eyes staring down at you.

"It's alive!" A girl with purple eyes shouts.

"It's not an it. It's a person Sister," says the boy next to her. Next to him stands another girl who says nothing as she analyzes you.

The boy reaches down to give you hand up. You uncertainly take it and surprisingly gently he pulls you to your feet. You wobble slightly and he leads you over to a log where you sit and he steps back watching you questioningly.

"How- how did I get here?" You asks slowly. "I was just in..."

"You just appeared..." says the girl with purple eyes in disbelief.

"Who sent you?" the other girl demands.

"Sent me?" You blink as your eyes skim over her you feel as bag appears over your shoulder. You tense at first before you find a light brown leather satchel on your shoulder.

Without hesitation you reach your hand in pull out the familiar journal you had been reading. At your touch the book instantly reacts to your touch springing to page you had been on. You glance over the page as things finally sink in.

You stand quickly shoving the book back in the bag.

"You didn't answer my question," growls the girl putting a sword to your neck.

You don't react. "You're X- Alix... Cez... and Asis..."

"That's not creepy at all," Asis says with an eye roll.

"Who sent you," Alix demands the blade getting closer to slitting your throat.

"You sent me," you say and you are surprised by the calmness in your own voice.

"I sent you?" She repeats.

"I can prove it," you say. "But I can't if you kill me."

She looks at you disbelievingly before she lowers the sword slightly. You slowly reach into the bag and pull out the book holding the cover so she can see. "That's your mark," you say.

Alix sheaths her sword. "That's my mark. But why would I put it on a book?"

"It's your story," you say attempting to explain. "I'm not sure what happened exactly but I found the book and began to read it but, the book refuses to open to the end. And people have been trying to kill me for it."

"Over a book?" Asis asks. "This is why I don't read." You notice as Alix bites her tongue and Cez resists an eye roll.

"Let me see the book."

You hesitate still not wanting to let it out of your grasp. But Alix snatches it from you and begins to read, saying words under her breath. After a few moments she reads aloud.

"'He told me I should keep a journal. Write down everything I could about my life. He said it would help for those mortals of the future. I said no. I thought it was stupid. But I will honor his last wish.'" She pauses and you fight the urge to grab the book back. "Who's last wish? And what happened to you?"

You shrug. "I haven't gotten that far. As for what happened... it's a long story..."

"Either way it is late," Cez comments. "We still need to leave at dusk. We should get some sleep."

"I'll take first watch," Alix states still flipping through the pages of your book as she walks off.

"Are you hurt at all?" Cez asks you.

You shake your head. "No, I'm fine..."

"And your name? You seem to already know but I am Mecezark or Cez. Witch and Demon."

You nod and state only your first name albeit uncertainly. "Mortal."

"Mortal?" Asis scoffs. "Mortals are simply weak bastards, who think they're tough cause they're too stupid to see the truth."

You don't respond and resist the urge to punch the girl. She's a Witch after all. You could punch her and she could turn you into a toad.

"Enough Asis," Cez says sternly. He stands and grabs a blanket handing it you. "Get some sleep. You can explain more in the morning."

You want to protest but as soon as the words leave his mouth your eyes begin to droop.

~~~~
"Mortal. Morty. Hey!"
You slowly open your eyes to see Alix looking down at you. Behind her you see the sun barely rising. "We are about to leave. If you're really stuck here with us. You gotta contribute."
You shake off the tiredness as you roll up the blanket.
"Oh Morty!" You scowl a bit at the new nickname. Your anger wears off as Alix tosses the book over her shoulder at you. You dive to catch it. "I couldn't open it any further like you said. But I guess I have no choice to trust you. But betray me and I'll kill you."
"Got it," you say checking the book for damage. After seeing that it's okay you place it back in your bag. You finish rolling up the blanket and give it back to Cez. "If you gave me the blanket... what did you sleep on?"
"I was fine," he says and then hands you an apple.
You take it and take a bite not realizing how hungry you were.
"Let's go!" Alix shouts. "Come on! Move it! Move it!"
You roll your eyes as she heads to where she stands.
"Ready Morty? It's gonna be a long journey for someone like you."
Cez speaks before you can retort. "It will be long for you too if you don't take the potion." He pulls out a small vial which Alix takes and quickly drains.
"Thanks Witch Boy."
"Witch Boy?" He repeats. He is ignored.
"Okay," Alix says. "We got Morty, Witch Boy and Bitch Girl-"
"Hey!"
"So let's head off and Morty here can tell us what happened."
Alix starts walking quickly an you sigh following as you begin your tale.
