Chapter Six
Authors note: I hope you enjoy this chapter and thanks for reading, its a bit longer today!
Two more sets of footsteps were drawing near, as were the dark shapes that heavily resembled two hulking figures. He stumbled backwards, he knew what was coming, he had better start thinking before his last chance of survival slipped out of his grasp entirely.
"You should have known what you were letting yourself in for, double crossing, I." Lila said bitterly.
He was waiting for a stroke of inspiration that was unlikely ever to come.
It was too late to run before but he knew he had an opportunity now, and it was one that he did not plan on wasting. The two figures leered and made for a sprint, but the man had long gone, he was no more than an indistinct blotch in the distance. Panting the figures had to admit defeat and when Lila yelled for them to halt, having no hope of catching up with the target, they were glad for a rest.

Dawn was fast approaching, the last slithers of the night fading away. Only Lila remained, stood in the vast space that was. She had spent the past hours carefully formulating a plan, coming to the conclusion that she would go to as little effort as possible, rathering that he would come of his own will. Although the plan was risky, he felt confident he would come. If he didn't.... her lenience would be greatly reduced next time.
Her stance was still, staring into the depths of the chattering crowd. She allowed herself a glace towards the grand building of which Law Passing would occur. Any moment now she knew that the citizens of Aun would be filing through the corridors to be tested. She would have originally liked to have over-seen testing but that would have to wait, Lila thought with a sad smile.
Watching, waiting.
Even though she knew that if she willed to she could easily find the traitor, Lila was feeling a newfound splurge of confidence along with a dash of confidence. Her hopes were high of the traitor returning to this place. She now knew that anyone who worked for Them was not to be trusted. Ever.
The only question was when would he return?
As the day flew by with apparent ease, there was still no sign of the man. Lila's doubt began to resurface, where was he? What if he was more intelligent than she gave him credit for?
This was a thought that gave her no comfort, nor one that she found appealing. However, this was a possibility that was growing increasingly likely.
At long last, Lila moved out of her stance and shifted her gaze, glancing round once more. The last traces of the crowd were drawing away and Lila was alone once more. It soon became evident that her plan had failed, shame rearing it's head inside her. Her plan was so simple yet so effective, she thought all she had to do was send a message that read:
All is forgiven,
And he would come, apparently not. However, although failure had come knocking on her door, her face was set, she had not yet accepted defeat. In fact, she doubted she ever would.
