Story Of Laycool

"Flawless."

The one word Layla and Michelle McCool would always say.

And that's one word that I would definitely call them.

When I began watching WWE, I didn't know Laycool. I didn't even know Michelle McCool, as she had left when I began watching.

However, I DID know Layla, in fact she was my favorite women's wrestler from the start. I liked her ever since I began playing WWE games on my crappy Wii.

I also have been watching them as a tag team on WWE network and YouTube. And they made a pretty amazing team.

The group was a duo of former Divas and Women's champions, Layla and Michelle McCool. The two began teaming in 2009, and by the end of that year they became inseparable and known as "Laycool."

Layla and Michelle had amazing Mic skills, and had lots of good moments and were great friends. When one was champ, the other was champ.

For example, when Michelle McCool won the Women's and Divas Championships, she would clone them and give one to Layla, claiming they were both champions.

However, this did not sit well with Teddy Long, who happened to be an authority figure during Michelle's run as Women's champion. He claimed that there should only be "one women's title", and one of them should hold it.

So what happened next?

Michelle gave Teddy her clone, then turned to Layla, they began fighting over her title.

Then what happens you ask?

CRACK.

The championship breaks.

Claiming that there's still only one title, Michelle wore one half, while Layla wore the other, kind of like a friendship charm.

They had other great moments, like when they rubbed cake and poured punch all over Mickie James during her goodbye party.

Laycool remained a team and reigned strong for nearly two whole years.

..that is, until, things took a turn.

A NASTY turn.

The group began to go downhill by 2011. It got to the point that Layla and Michelle had to attend Therapy to try and salvage their friendship.

However, this did not work, and the former friendship had sparked an angry boiling rivalry.

On April 29th 2011 on Friday night Smackdown, Michelle and Layla were in a match, which then ended by count out.

Safe to say neither cared about the match, they just wanted to beat the bejeezus out of eachother.

And that's what happened.

After the match, Layla announced she wanted to have a "real match" with no count outs, no disqualifications at extreme rules 2011. She hoped this would finally settle everything.

Well she was right. Because when Layla was walking away, Michelle made the proposal for the loser to leave WWE. Layla reluctantly accepted.

On May 1st 2011 (Extreme rules), it was time to find who was leaving WWE. The match was overall fantastic, and both ladies did a great job showing their true talents. Nothing to be taken away from either of them.

However, Layla reigned victorious.

When Layla won the match, she was very excited, then realized that meant Michelle was leaving WWE, her former BFF, so she broke into sobs.

Layla then left the ring, leaving McCool in a wave of emotions down within the ring, all alone.

...perfect for the debut of a new diva named Kharma.

Kharma storms down to the ring, then picks Michelle up single handedly, before slamming her in the middle of the ring.

After that, McCool retired.

Layla continued to stay in WWE before retiring in 2015 to move to bigger and better things.

To this day, Laycool is considered one of the greatest WWE tag teams in WWE history.

I never knew McCool, but I miss Layla so much. And I hope they're both making the most of wherever they are now.
