I'm sure all of you Paige's fans, if there are any left, are aware of what happened on St. Patrick Day. If not, all you need to know that Paige, as well as other well-known people got hacked. Some abominable 'human' being released very private pics and videos of Paige in very intimate situations. If you still want to have an ounce of respect left for Paige, I strongly suggest you not to watch the videos. Watching and spreading the videos is as much an intrusion of privacy as releasing them is.
Now, I'd like to share my thought on this latest scandal and mention that I'm neither keen on condemning her nor on playing the part of a white knight(I should probably write lady).
I like Paige. I really do. I don't know why though, or how much now. The more I get to know about her, the more she messes up the less respect I have for her. You know the saying: "If you do not respect yourself, how can you demand others to respect you?". I admit that I had always idealized Paige. I blindly believed in how she was presented by the WWE, her family, interviews, etc. I truly believed that she was just a beautiful young girl focused on following her dreams despite her upbringing and everything that stands between her and her goal. An anti-diva or an anti-heroine, a type of a person that I'm always drawn to. Now I'm not sure what's left of my perception of her. I guess, the hacker has finally managed to burst my bubble. However angry I am with her for being so reckless or not being the person I imagined her to be, I still feel sorry for her. No, I pity her.
Now, I'm going to address a few issues I have with this horrible situation.
Who is the hacker
First of all, I don't understand, how can a human being be so cruel to humiliate another human being in such a way? Secondly, Paige herself mentioned in her official statement that she did not consent to releasing any of private pics and videos. People already call the leaking Fappmania 2.0. as in a continuation of hacking pictures from Iclouds in 2014. Paige is not the only female wrestler to have been hacked. As far as I know, Summer Rae had a nude pic released too. The hacker remains anonymous and unpunished. However, I have my doubts concerning the identity of the hacker. I like to follow my intuition and question what I'm told and I reached a conclusion that I do not believe the Paige leaks to be a part of the fappmania. It does seem too convenient to believe it. I decided to think of the possibilities of who could be behind the leaks.
As you know, Paige wasn't the only person recorded in the vids. Former WWE employee, Brad Maddox, as well as a person who appears to be Xavier Woods. Naturally, the first person to blame for the leaks could be Maddox himself. But he no longer works for WWE and is currently married therefore I can't see how he could benefit from this whole situation. Also, why would he release it now and jeopardize his marriage? Same with Woods. If anything, Woods may now forget about any push or whatsoever. Thus I don't think any of the men could have done it.
If I remember correctly, some time ago, probably the same hacker was boasting about possessing Paige's nudes and videos. He or she even leaked a picture where Paige's nipple was visible. Off course, both Paige and her mum denied the pic to be authentic. Today, we may safely say that it wasn't photoshoped. It is clear to me that the hacker could be one and the same. What I'm most confused about is why didn't he release the rest then? What stopped him? Why do it now? I personally think that he threatened Paige and she agreed to pay him money for not releasing them and she probably must have found some means to be assured that the hacker hasn't got any copies left. Anyway he had copies, and maybe even blackmailed her again. Feeling safe, she refused to pay. He released them because it was very convenient for him to do it when other celebrities got hacked so his crime could blend in. Now whether the hacker was anonymous or paid by someone is another issue. Clearly the person must have been aware on the difficulties and humiliation the release may cause Paige. Did he do it for fun, or was it revenge for refusing to be blackmailed or maybe he was paid by someone? He could have gone to press, television, some porn services, hell, even to the WWE! Yet, the release was anonymous. The pictures and videos were posted on some insignificant yet mostly known to wrestling fans webpage (I won't mention its name). So the hacker's motives are confusing. If Paige didn't pay him this time and he didn't get the money he could have gotten from the media, did he simply do it because he was able to? Could he have gone to WWE? Would they refuse to pay money to prevent the leaking and thus fail to protect and preserve the image of their employees? Or worse, could their personal vendetta lead them to pay the hacker to release it all and therefore give them a good reason to finally get rid of Paige? Can we put it past them? All this speculation as well as a convenient timing of the Rock's movie about Paige and her impending marriage to Perro lead me to believe that this leaking was intentional and had nothing to do with the rest of the leaks. This is just way too convenient for my liking.
The moral issue
Paige is now the laughing stock of all wrestling fans. She will be forever branded as a whore. We live in a XI century where still sex is a taboo and people who like the act itself are called names and are made fun of. I, myself, am in no position to judge her, but the rest of the world will anyway. Probably most of the male wrestling fans are now the happiest people alive that their dreams came true. As usual, people have already divided themselves into haters and supporters. Some call her slut and some a victim.
I don't really think she belongs to either category. I won't call her a whore. As far as we know, she didn't do it for money. She wasn't offering herself for anyone to take. Also, she didn't make the videos public herself. She didn't sell them to some porn sites, etc. The content of the videos is another matter but Paige should not be called names associated with an entirely different occupation just because she performs acts without which humanity cannot continue to exist. If we'll go with that reasoning we will be calling our mothers whores because they have had sex. Granted, not everyone records the act on a phone or on laptop's camera but still people do it. I can't comprehend why though, given the sad consequences of an accidental release of such private videos. Yet, in today's weird world, it is nothing out of ordinary for people, especially young ones, to do. However, it is not all right or excusable when such videos are stolen, hacked or the people recorded are being blackmailed. Such videos are private and therefore they should stay private. I can't call it moral to claim that these people deserve what they got because they willingly recorded such type of a video. It's just not how it goes. Paige didn't do anything illegal or absolutely extraordinary by today's standards.
Despite the fact that Paige obviously made a huge mistake of ever agreeing to record her sexual intercourses and thus took the risk of them being released to the public in whatever way possible, she still is a victim. She is a victim of hacking, a form of cyberbullying. That can't be debatable. Nevertheless, let's not take the victimizing any further. Although, it is not known whether she was under influence when she agreed to have sex with them, she still was legal and the videos are said to have been her property. Moreover, her submissive role in the videos cannot equate with abuse or rape, etc. The question is, should she be judge because of her sexual preferences? Is it normal to hold against the people their sexual appetites? Is she condemned because she's a girl who likes it kinky and rough? If that is the case then why are Woods and Maddox not scrutinized for their behavior. It takes two (or as it turns out, sometimes three) to tango right? Each to his own, I guess.
Taking all the moral issues aside, Paige made the worst mistake when she let her NXT Women's title be desecrated in such a humiliating way. The belt, which was created for her and allegedly with her input, was a property of WWE and she let someone ejaculate on it and she let him document it. It also very probably that she was caring the same belt during all the meet-and-greets as well as charity events and letting children touch it. This brings me to the last aspect of my analysis:
WWE's reaction
As to this moment, the WWE made no official statement or any decision regarding Paige's future with the company. Paige violated wellness policy twice and is one strike away from getting fired. Also, her fiancé publicly accused them of mistreatment, extortion and refusing to let Paige undergo a surgery. This recent scandal with leaked nudes and sextapes can be a proverbial final nail in the coffin.
It is a well-known fact that Paige's contract expires in 2019. Until that time the only thing that can result in her getting fired are the third violation or if she herself asks for a release and both parties reach satisfying agreement. Paige is an independent contractor who still has to sign a moral clause in her contract. The leaks are the worst PR for the company and even Dave Meltzer himself "doesn't have any idea of their response". It is worth to mention that Paige is not the only person involved in the scandal or that her mistreatment of a WWE belt/title is not the first one to ever occur (remember HBK's nude picture with a belt covering his private parts).
Some people claim that WWE already set precedence with Seth's leaks. Although Seth's situation seems to be similar, it is also very different. Yes, Seth got hacked and he couldn't be held responsible for the nudes' release. However, considering the fact that it was his fiancée that leaked the nude pictures of him as his mistress and thus revealed their affair, it was also a very bad situation for WWE. Fortunately for Seth, he didn't desecrate the WWE Championship title and he didn't have a sextape leaked. Thus Seth was pardoned, and had to issue a statement where he apologized for everything.
Paige's situation wouldn't be so complicated and abysmal if only her nudes were leaked. The content of the videos and the inexcusable mistreatment of the title are the major concern for the WWE. Wrestling business is a particularly strange one. Female wrestlers are still being evaluated by their looks rather than their abilities. Paige used to be considered a solid worker whose looks and young age was just a couple of her many other attributes. Wellness violation and her infamous relationship with perro left a huge stain on her reputation. They say that a woman's worth is her reputation. Paige's reputation is completely ruined. She might have lost all her sponsors and her worth for the WWE is minimal. It seems that not even the Rock's movie may save her now. Paige has proven to be more trouble than she's worth. And it's ironic that WWE has all the reasons now to fire her and people would have understood why but it still not a good PR move. Personally, I think it's best for both parties to part ways. If Saraya has any dignity left she should ask for a release and let Paige finally die.
All in all, I fear for Paige or should I say Saraya. She's young and already made so many mistakes that keep crushing down on her one by one. Realistically, how much more can she take? How much more mistakes can she make? As much as I hate Alberto, I hope that he does not leave her now because I feel it would kill her. I really don't want to wake up and read that she committed suicide. I pray that she finally starts learning from her errors and matures. I wish her the best.
Feel free to comment and share your own thoughts. I'm sorry for any mistakes. English is not my mother tongue and I'm too emotional right now to correct anything.
