Broken Soul [Chris Jericho + OC] {REQUESTED}
This was requested by slytherin_queen12, and it actually turned out longer than I expected. (It's definitely one of the longest one-shots in this book.)
The very beginning (all of the italics) is a flashback.
So, I hope you like it!

Broken Soul - Fozzy
*Three Weeks Ago*
It was the middle of our match. Charlotte had just thrown me into the corner, when music began playing. I just stayed put in the corner, but Charlotte looked confused.
The Authority – Triple H and Stephanie McMahon – began walking out. Charlotte glanced at her dad, but Ric looked just as confused as she did. Before they could make it to the ring, Ric stopped them and began yelling at them.
While Charlotte was distracted, I was able to climb to the top rope. When she turned back around, it was too late. I jumped.
And I missed.
Charlotte moved out of the way, and I hit the mat. I groaned, and she smirked. She went for the pin.
"1...2-"
Suddenly, the counting stopped and Charlotte wasn't on top of me anymore. I slowly sat up.
Charlotte was outside the ring, and Stephanie had somehow made it past Ric. She was casually walking away, and the ref was yelling at her.
I managed to slide out of the ring. I grabbed Charlotte by the hair and stood her up. I shoved her into the ring.
Once I slid into the ring, she stood up. I quickly hit her with a clothesline. She got back up, and I hit her with another one. When she finally stayed down, I hit her with my finisher, and went for the pin.
"1...2...3!"
"The winner, and the new Divas Champion: Kerry!"
I stood up, shocked. The ref raised my hand in the air, and I was handed the Divas Championship.
Ric began yelling, but Charlotte calmed him down, and they both headed backstage. Triple H and Stephanie stayed where they were.
"Congratulations, Kerry," Stephanie said, smirking. "You're the new Divas Champion! You finally did what Becky Lynch couldn't do." The crowd booed.
"We'd like you to come with us to our office," Hunter said. "We have a few things we'd like to talk about."
"You had a good match, Kerry," Stephanie said. "Let's talk about the even greater matches you'll have in the future."
I stayed frozen in place. The Authority just helped me win my match. I wasn't sure how I felt about that, but I didn't think I liked it. However, if I didn't go with them, they could easily take the title away from me. The title I hadn't even held for five minutes.
I sighed, and began walking. I approached Stephanie and Hunter, who were both looking at me expectantly. I simply nodded, and the crowd booed.

*Now*
"The following match is scheduled for one fall!" Eden announced. "Making her way to the ring, accompanied by Stephanie McMahon, she is the Divas Champion: Kerry!"
I walked down the ramp, the Divas Championship slung over my shoulder, and Stephanie following close behind me. We made it to the ring, and we waited for my opponent.
"And her opponent, from Dublin, Ireland: Becky Lynch!"
I watched as poor, innocent Becky came out. She kept losing to Charlotte, and now she'd have to lose to me.
Becky stood at the top of the ramp, but her music stopped. She held a microphone.
"I'm tired of facing the Divas Champion when she has someone in her corner," Becky complained. "Charlotte had Ric, and you have Stephanie. To even the odds, I've got someone in my corner tonight."
I looked at Stephanie, who was just as confused as I was.
Suddenly, the lights went off, and a few seconds later, you could see lights that were definitely on a jacket. His music started as the lights came back on.
"Break the walls down!"
"This is Chris Jericho," Becky said, smirking. "I think you're familiar with him, Steph."
Stephanie just glared at the two of them as they high fived. They began making their way to the ring, so Stephanie got out of the ring.
Once the bell rang, she marched over to Chris, and they started talking. I don't know what they were saying, but she looked angry.
Becky and I locked up, but I quickly gained control.
The match went back and forth for a few minutes, with no outside interference. Soon, I had Becky on the mat, so I hit her with my signature and pinned her.
"1...2 – "
Someone grabbed my leg and I was pulled out of the ring. I fell to the ground, the air getting knocked out of me. I looked up and saw Chris Jericho, smirking. I glared at him, and I stood up. The ref began counting.
"1!"
"Do you know who I am?" I asked, angrily. "I am the Divas Champion! You can't put your hands on me. This is a Divas match. Why are you even out here?"
Stephanie tried talking to me, but I didn't listen. Eventually, she got in between Chris and I, but it was too late.
"8!"
"9!"
"10!"
"The winner of this match, as a result of a countout: Becky Lynch!"
Chris smirked at me, then slid into the ring, holding Becky's hand in the air.
Stephanie convinced me to follow her backstage, but not before Chris got a microphone.
"You want to know what I'm doing here, Kerry?" He asked. I turned around to look at him. "I'm here to save you." I frowned, confused. "I'm here to save everyone...from the Authority. Putting themselves where they don't belong, giving undeserving people the championship: it needs to stop!"
My jaw dropped, and I turned around and stormed backstage. Chris kept talking about "saving us" but I didn't listen.
"What the hell were you thinking out there, Kerry?" Stephanie asked, frowning.
"He didn't belong out there!" I exclaimed.
"That doesn't mean you can just start yelling at him!" She said. "You lost the match!"
"It wasn't even a title match," I said, shrugging. "It's not that big of a deal. I'll do better next time, I promise. I won't let him distract me."
"He better not," Stephanie said. She turned around and walked away.
I rolled my eyes. God, she could be dramatic sometimes.
I walked to the Divas locker room, where I changed out of my ring gear and into normal clothes. I put everything into my bags, then I headed to Catering to grab something to eat before I left.
I made sure to keep an eye out for Hunter. Stephanie was the easy one; when Hunter found out I did something wrong, he'd yell at me and threaten to kick me out of the Authority, which would be a gift rather than a punishment, but I couldn't tell him that.
After eating, I began making my way back to the Divas locker room. I heard something, though, so I slowed down so I could find the source of it. Once I found the room it was coming from, I came to a stop. Someone was singing and playing a guitar. It was nice.
"Now I'm standing at a crossroads, and I know which way to go. But I'm not strong enough to get there on my own."
The song sounded vaguely familiar, but I was mostly mesmerized by the words. They really resonated with me.
I didn't realize I had knocked on the door until it was open, and the man I had yelled at earlier in the night was looking at me.
"Kerry?" He was confused, but he didn't seem annoyed.
"Oh, hi," I said, blushing. I hadn't meant to knock on the door, but now that I had, I should probably talk to him. "I was walking by when I heard you singing. And..." I paused. "You know what? I sound really creepy. I should just go."
I was about to walk away when he said, "Wait." I turned to look at him. "Do you want to talk? There must have been a reason you knocked."
"Um...yeah, sure," I replied. He let me into the room. When he shut the door, I began talking. "Look, I'm sorry for yelling at you earlier. It's my character, you know? Plus, I didn't realize you'd be in Becky's corner."
"No, it's fine," He said. "It's your character, I get it."
"That's actually what I wanted to talk about," I said. "My character."
"All right," Chris said. He sounded a little confused.
"I heard the song you were singing, and it got me thinking," I explained. "I'm kind of at a crossroads myself, and I honestly have no clue what to do. I know what I should do, but..."
"What's going on, Kerry?" He asked.
"I don't want to be in the Authority," I responded. He nodded, letting me continue. "It's just...They're the reason I'm Divas Champion, and if I make them mad, they can easily take it away from me."
Chris didn't say anything at first, but then he said, "You said you didn't know I'd be here tonight?" I shook my head, and he smirked. "All right. I have a plan, and we just won't tell Hunter and Stephanie about it."

*The Next Week*
Naomi stood in the corner of the ring, while Hunter and Stephanie stood in the middle of it. They both looked annoyed, but Stephanie also looked angry. She had a microphone.
"Kerry, where the hell are you?" She asked. "You have a match against Naomi tonight! We tried waiting for you, but you never showed. You can't just keep the Authority waiting like this."
My theme hit and I walked out, the Divas Championship around my waist.
"Oh, I'm sorry, Stephanie," I said. "Did I forget to tell you? I'm not in the Authority anymore." I smirked, and she began yelling, but not into her microphone. "Actually, I found someone else to be in my corner. And since you two are in the ring, he can do what he came here to do; he can save us." The crowd began cheering.
This time, the lights didn't go out. Chris came out, staring straight ahead at Stephanie and Hunter.
"Kerry, are you sure you want to do this?" Stephanie asked. "We gave you that title. We can easily take it away from you and give it to someone who deserves it; someone like Charlotte."
I rolled my eyes. "I could've won this without you. You guys took all the fun out of it, actually." I began walking to the ring, Chris right behind me. "Now, I know that Tamina and Sasha over there know their place, but I don't think you guys do. That's why I'm going to have Chris in my corner, so you two don't try anything during my match."
Stephanie's jaw dropped, but Hunter made sure she got out of the ring. After handing the ref my title, Naomi and I began our match.
-
After our match, in which Chris managed to keep Stephanie from getting in the ring, we both made our ways backstage. I had beaten Naomi, and I had actually told her about everything beforehand, so everything was fine between us.
Once we made it backstage, I handed Chris my title because I knew I was about to be confronted.
I was right, because not a minute later, Stephanie marched right up to me.
"What the hell do you think you're doing?" She asked.
I shrugged. "Leaving the Authority." I looked back at Chris. "Isn't that what you'd call it?" He nodded, smirking.
"We don't let just anyone join the Authority," Stephanie said. "We handpicked you. We gave you that title. Don't think we're just going to let this slide. You're going to pay for this, Kerry. You can't just humiliate us and get away with it."
"Sounds good," I said. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I have somewhere I need to be."
"Where could you possibly need to be?" She asked.
"Anywhere that's not here."
Chris laughed, and we began walking away. We ended up back at his locker room. He realized he still had my title, so he gave it back to me.
I laughed. "I thought you made a pretty good Divas Champion."
"I think you make a better one," He said.
I set my title down, and I walked over and hugged him.
"Thank you so much for helping me," I said.
"I wasn't going to let them force you to do something you don't want to do," He said, as if it was obvious. "I've gotta protect you."
I rolled my eyes, and we stopped hugging. "You've gotta protect me?"
"Of course!" He exclaimed. "I have to protect my future girlfriend."
"Oh, so we're going to date?" I asked, playfully.
"I hope so, or else you wouldn't be my future girlfriend."
I laughed. "How about I be your current girlfriend?"
Chris leaned down and kissed me. "I think I'd like that. I wouldn't have to wait."
"If you just waited around, you would never save anyone."
