Requested by Littlestar1026
I love this song a lot, so I got excited when you requested this haha :) I didn't take the song literally, of course, but I do hope you like it!
(I do have plans to write a story where I do take the song literally. I just haven't yet. xD)
Partners in Crime – Set It Off feat. Ash Costello
I didn't plan on getting locked in a broom closet minutes before I was supposed to have a match.
It just sort of happened.
"Austin, let me out of here!" I yelled at him, banging on the door. When he just laughed at me from outside the room, I moved back a little bit and crossed my arms.
I've been on the main roster for about a month, having been called up from NXT to help Bayley out in a tag team match. That was the day I met the New Day. More importantly, that was the day that I met Austin.
I'm friends with Kofi and Big E, too, but Austin is different.
It all started a week after getting called to the main roster. I had just had a match, and when I finally arrived backstage, Austin confronted me and accused me of stealing his trombone.
"What am I going to do with a trombone?" I asked. "Where would I hide a trombone? And did you not just see me have a match? I've been in the ring for at least five minutes; when would I have taken it?"
Even though I made many valid points, he still didn't believe me. He didn't seem angry – more like amused, like he thought this was some sort of scavenger hunt.
It turned out, Big E and Kofi hid it from him, and they told him that I took it. Of course, I didn't, but they never told him the truth, and it has started a series of pranks between us.
I didn't plan on him pranking me back (even though I did nothing to him in the first place), but one day I walked backstage, and I was instantly met with a pie to the face. I don't know what kind it was, because after that, I chased him around backstage for a good five minutes before calling it quits to wash my face. That was the beginning of this war.
Which leads us to now.
We had gone all day without a prank, so I assumed Austin didn't have anything planned for today. I'm facing Sasha tonight, so I put on my gear, and I headed to Gorilla with Austin following close behind. He told me that Sasha wanted to meet with me beforehand, so we could talk about the match, and he led me to a room.
He let me in first, and I assumed he was being a gentleman (what a crazy thought that was), but by the time I realized he hadn't followed me inside, he had already shut the door.
And that's how I ended up in a broom closet.
"So, what's going on, Austin?" I could hear Sasha say, her voice getting closer with each word. She sounded suspicious, probably wondering why he was standing outside a room by himself.
"Oh, nothing," He replied, trying to act casual.
"What are you doing over here?" She asked.
"Just, you know, checking out this door," He replied. "Very nice workmanship, don't you think?"
"Angie?" Sasha asked, louder this time.
"Hi, Sasha," I said back.
"Austin!" Sasha exclaimed. "Did you lock Angie in this room?"
"I did no such thing!" He protested. "I told you: I'm checking out this door. It looks very nice."
"Austin..." Sasha warned him.
I heard a heavy sigh, then the door being unlocked. It opened shortly after, and I stepped out of the room, glaring at Austin.
"You're mean," I told him, and he just shrugged and smiled.
Sasha began walking away, so I followed her.

Sasha stayed in the ring, calling out Charlotte, so I silently rolled out and made my way backstage.
The first person I saw was Austin. He looked like he was trying to remain calm about something. He even seemed a little apologetic, like he actually regretted locking me in a closet.
I narrowed my eyes. "What do you want, Creed?"
"Before I tell you, I just want to say I'm sorry," He said. "Locking you in a closet was funny at the time, but now I realize that you might not feel the same way."
I raised an eyebrow. "Oh, really?"
"But..." He continued. "I need to ask for a favor."
"What is it?" I was skeptical; this could just be another prank.
"Kofi and E have some incriminating video footage of me," He said.
"What the hell did you do?" I asked.
"Nothing bad," He replied. "It was just supposed to be between us, and they obviously want to share it with someone, so I need help getting rid of it."
"How am I supposed to help?" I was still very confused.
"It's on Kofi's phone," He said. "And I have a reason to believe that you know the passcode to his phone."
"Why do you think that?"
"He told me that you know it," He said. "He doesn't trust E and I to know it, which I find very insulting."
"Why should I help you?" I crossed my arms. "You've been bugging me since the day I got here."
"I'll stop with the pranks," He promised. "I'll leave you alone, and you won't have to worry about being locked in closets anymore."
I thought about maybe just telling him the passcode. It was just his birthday – 0814. But if I did that, I wouldn't get to see this video. And I wanted to see this video.
I sighed. "Fine. I'll help you."
Austin let out a sigh of relief. "He's in Catering. He has his phone with him, but he won't give it to me."
"I've got it," I told him, and I began walking toward Catering. He was following close behind.
I saw Kofi immediately, sitting at a table with E and Seth Rollins. They were talking about something, and they all had their phones on the table, in front of them. Kofi had just set his down when I walked in.
I walked over to the table, while Austin stayed outside of Catering. They all noticed that I was coming over to them, and they stopped talking.
"Hi," I greeted them. I quickly picked up Kofi's phone. "I'm taking your phone, Kofi. Okay, bye."
Kofi only managed to say, "What?" before I ran away. I could hear E laughing at him.
I ran past Austin and said, "Come with me."
He followed me, but when I got to the women's locker room, we stopped.
"Okay, stay out here," I told him. "I'll get rid of the video, and I'll give you the phone so you can give it back to Kofi."
"Why can't you do it out here?" He asked, frowning. He sounded a little scared.
"Kofi could show up at any minute, and he's bigger than me," I said. "He could totally get it from me. He's not allowed in the women's locker room, though, so he can't come after me. Why? What's wrong with this video?"
He shook his head. "Nothing. Just don't watch it, okay?"
"Okay," I said, shrugging.
I walked into the locker room. Paige was the only other person in here, and she was talking on the phone to someone. When she saw me, she left.
I unlocked Kofi's phone – he should really change his passcode – and went straight to his photos and videos. I assumed I was supposed to be deleting the most recent video, since it had Austin in the thumbnail.
I clicked on the video, and of course, I watched it. Austin locked me in a broom closet; I wasn't going to let him get away with that.
It looked like they had just finished recording something for his channel. E was doing his thing where he tells people not to follow him on Twitter. Austin turned off the camera, and the people in the room – E, Austin, Kofi, and Seth – began talking.
Most of it wasn't very interesting, just about whatever game they had just played. When I heard my name, though, I started paying attention.
Austin was on his phone, but when Kofi said my name, he looked up.
"Angie?" He questioned.
Seth chuckled. "Someone's got a crush."
Austin frowned. "No, I don't."
"You haven't left her alone since she got here," Seth pointed out.
"She stole my trombone..." He mumbled.
"We told you that was us," E said, motioning to himself then toward Kofi. "And you're still chasing her all over the arena."
"If I say that I have a crush on her, will you drop the subject?" Austin asked.
"Yes," they all said at once, and Austin rolled his eyes.
"Fine," He said. "I have a crush on Angie."
The video ended there.
I could see why Austin didn't want me to see that.
I went ahead and deleted the video.
I have a crush on him, too, I suddenly realized.
I would've been angry if anyone else had shoved a pie in my face, or locked me in a closet. But when Austin does it, I don't really mind. Yeah, I get a little annoyed, but really, it's fun. I do admit, there are probably better ways we could spend our time, but at least I'm getting to spend time with him.
I locked Kofi's phone, walked over to the door, and opened it. Austin was in the hallway, pacing. When he heard the door open, he stopped and looked at me.
"Did you delete it?" He asked.
"Yeah." I nodded. "It's gone."
"Good."
"Did you mean what you said?" I asked. "In the video?"
He frowned. "Did you watch it?"
"Hey, you locked me in a closet," I reminded him. "I could've done much worse than watch the video."
He sighed. "I..."
For the first time ever, Austin Creed was at a loss for words.
"Because I may or may not feel the same way," I said, shrugging, trying my hardest to remain calm. "But if you were just saying that to make them stop bugging you..."
"No!" He exclaimed, and I smiled. "I mean... I did mean it, but I figured you hated me, so I didn't want you to see it."
"Trust me, you'd know if I hated you," I told him. "I thought you didn't like me for some reason, and that's why you wouldn't leave me alone."
"Do you see me bugging anyone else like this?" He asked. "I mean, at first, I totally thought you stole Francesca. But after E told me that he and Kofi took it, I realized you were fun to be around. Even though you were mad at me most of the time."
I laughed.
"Hey!"
My eyes widened when I heard Kofi's voice at the end of the hall. He marched over to us.
"Hey there, Kofi," I said, handing him his phone. "Thanks for letting me use your phone. I'm going to go in here now, because you're not allowed in here."
I turned around and walked back into the locker room. I could hear Austin laughing at me.
