Hey There Delilah [Johnny Gargano + OC]
I guess this one-shot is kind of an example of what to expect in your own one-shot.
Also, I've been watching too much Psych because the OC's name is Juliet solely so he can call her Jules. It would've made more sense to name her Delilah lmao
Hey There Delilah - Plain White T's
Juliet sat in her empty classroom.
School had ended 30 minutes ago, but she was still there. She sat at her desk grading test papers. She had a program pulled up on her computer, so that she could put in the students' grades once she'd finished.
Just as she'd written a 94 on the front of a test, her computer made a noise. She looked up and saw she had a Skype call. She smiled, knowing exactly who it was, and answered it.
His face filled the screen, and when he saw her, he grinned.
"Hey!" She greeted, setting down her pen.
He hesitated, then asked, "Are you still at school?"
"I am." She picked up the remaining ungraded test papers. "I've got 140 tests to grade. I've made it through twenty."
"I thought you'd be home by now," He admitted. "That's why I called. Should I call back later?"
She shook her head. "No, you're fine. I need a break anyway." She set the papers back down. "So, what's up?"
Johnny only called her on Skype when he had news or something important to tell her.
She'd met him years ago, when she was still in college. He had been wrestling for only a few years then, and they just hit it off. They would talk all the time on the phone, but it wasn't until nearly two years later that he asked her out, over Skype. After that, they'd decided that their Skype calls were only for special occasions.
Any time he would win a title, he'd Skype her. When she got accepted into her school's teaching program, and when she finally got her first teaching job, she called him on Skype. It was just something they shared.
"Guess where I am," He said.
He was in a dark room, and Juliet couldn't make anything out.
"I have no idea." She raised an eyebrow. "Have you been kidnapped?"
"No." He paused. "But even if I was, you didn't sound too concerned about it."
She shrugged. "It was just a guess. I didn't think you'd actually been kidnapped."
"But - "
"Johnny," She interrupted. "Where are you?"
It was like he'd forgotten why he'd called her, but when she said that, he grinned. He began walking, and he exited the room. She was suddenly ambushed by light, and it took his camera a few seconds to adjust to the sudden change in brightness. When it finally focused, it took Juliet a second to realize where he was. When she did, she grinned, and when he turned the camera back around toward him, he was still smiling.
"Have any guesses now?"
"Is that the Performance Center?" She asked.
"Ding ding ding, we have a winner," A voice off camera said. Johnny looked over, and a few seconds later, a new man appeared.
"I signed a contract this morning, and I am now an NXT Superstar," Johnny explained. He pointed at the man next to him. "And this is my tag team partner."
Juliet recognized the man as Tommaso Ciampa. He had wrestled in the indies, like Johnny, and their paths had crossed a few times. She was glad that he had a familiar face around.
"That's amazing!" She exclaimed. "When is your first match? I need to come to Orlando. I need to see you wrestle."
"Don't you have tests to grade?" He asked.
"I'll grade them over the weekend," She said. "I'll give them back on Monday, and on Tuesday, I'll come down to Orlando. Oh my god, this is so exciting!"
He chuckled. "Jules, we don't wrestle this week. I'll let you know when we debut, and you can come down then, okay?"
"Okay." She sighed.
"Jules?"
"Yeah?"
"Get some sleep."
She frowned. "What? Why?"
"You look exhausted," He told her. "Beautiful, but exhausted."
She smiled, and his tag team partner said, "Yuck." He walked away.
"Do you want me to defend your honor?" Johnny asked.
"No, it's fine," She replied, laughing. "I can defend my own honor." She paused. "At least, don't do it until I get there."
"Got it."
"I'm so proud of you," She told him.
"And I'm proud of you." She rolled her eyes, but he continued. "No, I mean it. Not only are you teaching middle-schoolers, but you're teaching them math. I can barely do simple addition, and you're over here teaching them about triangles and area and stuff."
She raised an eyebrow. "Is that all you know about math?"
"Maybe..." He mumbled.
She smiled at him. "I need to get back to grading. I'll call you later, okay?"
"Don't call me until you get some sleep," He said.
"I'll sleep, I promise," She said.
"I love you, Jules."
"I love you, too."

"Hey there Delilah, what's it like in New York City? I'm a thousand miles away but, girl, tonight you look so pretty, yes you do. Times Square can't shine as bright as you, I swear it's true."
