A Perfect Storm [Sami Zayn + OC]

This one-shot is for WRESTLINGCOMMUNITY's one-shot contest, which there is still time to enter, and you totally should. :)

I stuck with the winter aspect of the prompt, rather than the Christmas aspect (even if I am publishing this on Christmas day haha).

Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy! :)

The inside of the arena was warm and toasty, a stark contrast to the harsh, below-freezing winds outside.

Rami was used to the cold. They were in Montreal that night, his hometown, so he knew what type of weather to expect from the Canadian city. That did not, however, mean he liked it.

One of the things he enjoyed about traveling the world was that each city was different. One day, he'd be in a t-shirt and shorts, but the next, he'd need a heavy jacket and gloves. The Earth was amazing like that.

That particular night, just a week before Christmas, he didn't have a match, but he would be ringside for Kevin's later in the night.  He was wearing jeans and a hoodie, though he had worn a heavier jacket over said hoodie when he was outside.

The show was halfway over. It had started off with the women; the Riott Squad had faced Charlotte, Naomi, and Leah.

Rami had known Kevin for most of his adult life. They were best friends, wrestling soulmates.

He met Leah the next year. Having both been booked for the same show, it was a chance meeting, but one he'd been grateful for ever since.

Leah was the only other person he trusted as much, if not more, than Kevin.

Leah knew nearly everything about him.

Although she had lost the tag match, she still looked impressive in the ring. Rami would never not be blown away by her wrestling. Everything she did looked natural and fluid, like everything was just second nature to her.

He hadn't seen her since the match ended, so he couldn't be sure where she was.

He was currently in Catering, and though it hadn't started off that way, he was by himself.

Kevin had run off to take a phone call a little while ago, so Rami was by himself, which was fine with him.

When he looked over and saw Leah - still in her gear, her hair in a ponytail - he realized that no, being by himself was not fine. He wanted to be with Leah.

She smiled at him, and the whole room lit up because of it.  She walked over and took a seat next to him.

"Hey there, pal."

"Pal?" He raised an eyebrow and tilted his head.

"Well, I thought about calling you buddy, but then I thought, 'ooh, no, pal sounds better', and..."

Leah began rambling on, and Rami just smiled.

If he was known for his wild gesturing while he spoke, Leah was known for starting a sentence and just seeing where it lead her. She could talk, uninterrupted, for days if you gave her the chance.

While Rami was trying to decide if she had actually completed a sentence yet, Ashley (Charlotte) approached them, a knowing smile on her face.

"Hey, you guys," She greeted them.

Leah stopped talking and looked at her, taking in the champion's face. "What do you know?"

Ashley grinned. "It's snowing outside."

Leah gasped, and her eyes lit up. "Really?"

"Yes, really," She said, laughing.

Before Rami could say anything, Leah stood up, and literally ran out of Catering.

He laughed. "She's excited."

Rami knew how much Leah loved the snow, aware that she had grown up in Louisiana. He had visited a few times, and each time, he doubted that snow had ever touched the ground in the southern state.

He and Ashley spoke for a few minutes, then he decided to go check on Leah.

He figured he should make sure she'd put on enough layers, as well as see what, exactly, she planned to do in the snow.

He stopped by the locker room first, grabbing his jacket to put over his hoodie. He then made his way toward the exit, and when he opened the door, he was greeted with the hissing of the wind.

He stepped outside, and after shutting the door, turned around. Only a few feet from him stood Leah, still in her gear, her hair no longer in a ponytail.

Her purple hair - once vibrant, now a dark hue - covered her shoulders, which were bare. Flecks of white continually appeared as snow landed on her head.

She turned to look at him, a grin taking over her face.

"It's snowing!" She exclaimed, swinging her arms out to motion at the precipitation around her.

"Leah, it's below freezing out here!" He scolded, trying to frown, but finding it difficult as she simply brought her arms to her side. He began taking off his jacket, and walked toward her. "Here, put this on."

He handed it to her, and she slipped her arms into the too long sleeves.

"I'm sorry." She put her hands in the pockets.

"Don't be sorry." He shook his head. "It's just... we're in Canada, and it's snowing. Just know that you'll need a jacket when you go outside."

She sighed, looking down at her current getup. "Yeah, I probably should've changed first."

"Let's go back inside," He suggested, motioning behind him.

She simply nodded, so he turned around and opened the door. He let her walk inside first, then he followed behind.

They found themselves at the end of an empty hallway. The snowflakes in her hair slowly began melting, and she turned around to look at her friend.

She smiled at him. "I like your jacket. It smells like you."

Her face was red, from the cold and winds outside. Her eyes were lit up like Christmas lights, though, and her hair was a bit of a mess from the wind, but Rami found himself unable to tear his eyes from her.

She tilted her head. "Why are you staring at me?"

"I love you."

His eyes suddenly widened, only then aware of what he'd told her.

She grinned at him. "What?"

"I... nothing."

"Rami -"

"I said it was nothing."

She walked toward him, leaving little space between them. She brought her hand up and touched his cheek. Her skin was much colder than his, and his breath hitched in his throat.

"Say it again," She whispered, a small smile on her face.

"I... I love you," He stammered.

"I love you, too," She said.

She slowly stood on her tiptoes, so she was level with him. She gave him a quick peck on the lips, then turned around and began running down the hallway.

"By the way, I'm keeping your jacket!" She shouted, laughing as she did.

Rami couldn't move for a few seconds, still trying to process what had just happened. When he snapped back to reality, he yelled:

"Hey, wait, you can't have my jacket!"
