Ren Hosako Pt 3

Narrator: After the attack on Taiji Ishmori, Ren was not only a marked man, he caused a huge scandal in the world of Japanese Pro Wrestling: he jumped ship to Pro Wrestling NOAH, still signed to New Japan Pro Wrestling.

Kai/Ren(subtitles): I knew that I was going to create headlines, but not to where it would be this far. Of course, many of the networks that were involved with showing Pro Wrestling NOAH. The reason why was because I never told Gedo that I was going to NOAH to join Suzuki-Gun.

Minoru Suzuki (subtitles): I'm telling you the networks were FLOODED with emails and phone calls from New Japan officials, mainly because of Kai's recent appearance in NOAH. You jump ship to another company without telling them? Oh, man. (In English): People were... bleep, bleep, bleep, PISSED.

Kaori/Kairi Sane(subtitles): People lost their minds. They were so pissed at what had happened in NOAH, because Kai was scheduled to wrestle a few more dates before his CONTRACT expired. It was very controversial in the world of Japanese wrestling because it looked like a bigger company being beaten by a smaller promotion like NOAH and looking inferior.

Kai/Ren(subtitles): Soon enough, NOAH actually apologized for not being in the known about me being under contract with New Japan, and they backed it up by saying that I told them first, which is true, but I didn't want anyone to know about it. The two eventually worked it all out by having me sign a new contract with New Japan, but I managed to get my days in NOAH a lot sooner.

Footage of Kai entering to new music and new gear for his debut match at NOAH's Next Voyage.

Narrator: Ren Hosako embraced his dark side much more than everyone thought. He had shown that he was in it for the long run.

Kai/Ren(subtitles): Turning heel was the best thing that's ever happened to me, however, it wasn't how I was acting inside the ring, it was more so the presentation for me.

Sam Roberts: While Ren was becoming a bad guy, he started looking at anime for inspiration, and one of the animes was the Ghost In The Shell franchise.

Kai/Ren(subtitles): One of the characters I grew very fond of from Ghost In The Shell was Batau Jericho...

...where he dressed in military style pants...

...boots...

...a bomber jacket...

...he also had white caps for eyes...

...since he was blind, so I took that and thought, "I can make it work". I was really dedicated to get everything black and white and as Suzuki-Gun-esque, and not only did it make me feel like I was getting it all down, it made me act a certain way too. I looked at many different anime characters that were not only snobbish, but a bully as well.

Kai/Ren(subtitles): I also watched an anime called "Shokugeki No Soma", or "Food Wars", where this character Erina Nakiri would just bully all the wannabe chefs while she was proclaimed a goddess in the culinary world.

Kai/Ren(subtitles): I felt like if I could replicate her actions and how she talks down on people, it could help elevate my status as an asshole heel.

Footage of Kai cutting a promo on a fallen Taiji Ishmori with a smile on his face.

Kai(subtitles): You can't beat me because I beat you! You can't win, man! You can't, because I'm the winner, and you're a loser like everyone else in the audience!

The audience boos as Kai yells at them...

Kai(subtitles): Shut up! I wasn't talking to you!

The fans keep booing at him as they start chanting at him...

Crowd(chanting; subtitles): You suck! You suck! You suck! You suck! You suck! You suck!

Kai(subtitles): I suck?

Crowd(subtitles): YES!

Kai(subtitles): Kiss my ass!

Narrator: Ren managed to win over the audience, and management, with his over the top mic skills, technical skills in Sports Entertainment, and charisma that the old Ren Hosako could dream of.

Kai/Ren(subtitles): Being an asshole is a lot of fun, much to the dismay of my sister. She was horrified when she saw footage of me being an asshole to fans and just being a complete dickhead, but hey, it's making me more money than I was as a babyface, so, yeah. It worked. Sorry, Kaori! *laughs*

Narrator: For one straight year, Ren made everyone his enemy, but when he returned to New Japan with Suzuki-Gun in 2015, Hosako had declared war on Bushi, for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship.

Kai/Ren(subtitles): Going after that title meant a lot to me. And yes, I gained a bit of weight, 220, but at least I'm at the limit to where the IWGP Junior Belt's max weight, which is 220, but I made up for it with technical ability, just pure aggression, and just very pure evil. I wanted to make people hate me when I cheated to win the belt off of Bushi.

Footage shows Kai turning the ref around to kick Bushi in the groin without the ref looking. He goes for his finisher, the Brainbuster, and wins the title as the fans continued to boo him.

Kai/Ren(subtitles): I wanted everyone to hate me. I wanted to be most evil person in the world, and I've been that since the beginning!

Backstage, Kai smiled as he brandishes his new IWGP Belt with his Suzuki-Gun boys.

Kai(subtitles): Yeah, I cheated! So what! At least I have a title I can hold onto forever! And Los Ingobernables de Japon, BITE THIS!

Minoru Suzuki(subtitles): I will admit that were times when Kai went too far with being an asshole, but it was fun to watch him be just that.

Narrator: While Ren was making a success of his career in the ring, his career outside the ring was even more of a success. In late 2015, Ren, Kairi Sane, going under the ring name of Kairi Hojo, and Minoru Suzuki had taken part in a charity luncheon to celebrate autism awareness.

Kai/Ren(subtitles): Yeah, *chuckles*, that story. Whenever I think about that story, I laugh! It's just funny how it all came full circle later on. When we were at a charity luncheon to celebrate my disability and other people who are autistic or have autism, I looked around to take in the setup and the crowds of people who came, and in the corner of my eye, I saw this beautiful woman.

Kai/Ren(subtitles): I couldn't take my eyes off of her and I didn't know who she was until Kaori introduced me to her friend.

Masami/Io Shirai(subtitles): When Kaori introduced me to Kai, I thought he was the most adorable person I've ever met. He was so adorable: he had this short, wavy hair, some dimples on his cheeks, he was just so cute! *giggles*

Kai/Ren(subtitles): Turned out she was engaged at the time to one of my best friends, Takaaki Watanabe, or better known as, well, as the show's title, Evil, but we became very good friends until a couple years later, in late 2018.

Masami/Io Shirai(subtitles): Kai was very respectful and very friendly towards me when I told him that I was engaged, but deep down, I started falling for him and like he said, a couple years later, we would get together.

Kai/Ren(subtitles): *laughs* Yeah, she would be the woman I'd go on to marry later on.

Narrator: When Ren's contract with New Japan Pro Wrestling expired, he made the decision to not sign a new deal due to personal reasons, as one of them was to reunite with his sister in WWE's developmental brand, NXT.

Kai/Ren(subtitles): Leaving New Japan for WWE was something I already considered, but what I didn't know was that, I'd have change some stuff up a bit and start out as a good bad guy.
