For those of you who might not know, BookExpo was a convention for business and libraries to view and select books to order, for reviewers to get books for review, bloggers to get interviews, and for industry insiders to socialize, network, and for publishers to build hype for certain books/series. Basically you had to apply to get in, besides paying for the entrance fee.

BookCon was a convention for readers & fans. There were panels, and book signings, book drops, and other books related activities.

Various authors would go to these conventions to promote their current books and future releases.
