Chapter Thirty-Two: Welcome Back
Play Maybe by Yiruma
After the classes for the day end, which consisted of normal training, (Y/N) doesn't head back to the dorms right away.
First, she heads to the hospital, where her mother is. Upon arriving, the staff of the hospital and some of the citizens stare at the third-ranked hero with disbelief. Thankfully, the press didn't know that (Y/N) was brainwashed, so her image as a hero wasn't shattered or damaged, all they knew was that she was kidnapped.
"Miss. Elementia!" Citizens yell, "Can you sign my book?"
Others rush towards her and bombard her with questions, but the nurses and doctors help her get to Rei.
When (Y/N) stands outside of Rei Todoroki's room, she takes a deep breath and a step, opening the door. When she steps inside, Rei turns around with a peaceful look on her face.
"Hey, mom."
"(Y/N)?" Rei responds, smiling.
The (H/C)-haired girl sits down on the white bed with her mother, "I'm sorry about everything, mom." She begins to choke up, and tells her mother about when she was brainwashed, her memories, and when she almost killed her friends.
"It's alright, (Y/N) dear." Rei whispers, hugging her daughter, "Your friends will forgive you, if they haven't already. Anything you did while under that brainwashing is not your fault, you're still a hero, you're our Symbol of Peace. If you came here to apologize for something you did in the past, you don't have to. I forgave you a long time ago. It's time that you forgave yourself."
The (H/C)-haired girl cries into her mother's arms, and doing so reminds her of when she was a kid. After Enji had burned her, she ran to her mom, claiming to have become a monster. Rei, of course, told her that she's not, and never will be.
When the teary moment is over, (Y/N) wipes her tears away and says goodbye, heading to her home, where Enji is.
Upon arrival, she knocks. Surprisingly, Enji opens the door. When Enji and (Y/N) lock eyes, there's a moment of silence.
"Hello, father." the girl says.
"(Y/N), I-I didn't expect you to be home." Enji replies.
"I came here because I recently got my memories back." (Y/N) responds, and immediately Enji's jaw locks and he falls to his knees.
"I'm sorry."
Although surprised, (Y/N) takes a breath of her own.
"I was a horrible father, and a terrible hero." Enji continues, "You deserve to be at the top, not me. I hurt you..so many times, I hurt your siblings. Your mother, I hurt her so badly...I-I should be dead for the things I've done, I'll try my hardest to be better."
Finally, (Y/N) bends down to her father's level, gives him a smile and hugs him tightly. The man tries to hold back his tears of regret, but when his daughter hugs him, he breaks down and cries onto her shoulder while hugging her back.
"It's okay, dad." the (E/C)-eyed girl responds, "I know you'll try. Just go talk to mom, okay? I've done some horrible things too, y'know. We can both be better."
She turns away, "I'll see you later, I should be getting back to UA now."
"Wait, (Y/N)!"
She turns around at the sound of her father's voice.
"I was being truthful about you being at the top." He says, "I want to resign as the number one hero, you're already our Symbol of Peace, you should be the number one hero as well!"
(Y/N) stands there, shocked. Her father smiles at her expression, but is still surprised when his (H/C)-haired daughter rushes at him for a hug. They hug for a peaceful moment or two, before (Y/N) says goodbye again and finally heads back to the UA dormitories.
When she arrives, it's nine at night. She's just in time for curfew.
"Cutting it a bit short there, are we, Elementia?"
(Y/N) whirls around at the sound of her hero name, but she stands down when she locks eyes with Toshinori Yagi.
"All Might? What are you doing here so late?" She asks.
"I could ask you the same thing." He replies, "I came here looking for you, Enji already told me that he's resigning as the number one to the number two to give his spot to you. Hawks had decided the same."
Tears begin to form in (Y/N)'s eyes, but she pushes them away, since well, she's standing in front of the former Symbol of Peace of course!
"I wanted to congradulate you, and I wanted to see how you were doing. Y'know, with the memories."
The girl sighs, "Well, I remember everything about my life here since I was a child, and parts of my life in the real world. There's still gaps though. Oh, and that reminds me." Suddenly the (E/C)-eyed girl drops to the ground and puts her head against it, "I'm sorry All Might, for all those things I said and did when I first came to UA high. I know that I hurt you and some of the other teachers badly because of my anger issues, and I'm s-so s-sorry."
She begins to choke up and Toshinori drops to the ground with her, hugging her tightly without warning.
"It's okay, (Y/N)." He says, as the girl buries her head in his chest, "None of us blame you, we know how hard it must've been with your father. But thankfully, both of you changed into better people. Anything that you did in the past doesn't matter now, you're a powerful and beloved hero around the world, you have allies, friends, and family, that's all that matters now."
The hero looks up the former Symbol of Peace and smiles with tears in her eyes, "Thank you, All Might."
He chuckles, "Now, let's get you inside."
The two walk together into class 1-A's dorms, but instead of saying goodbye and leaving, Toshinori enters with her and heads to the couch of the common room. The lights are off and it seems quiet, too quiet.
"Where is everybody?" (Y/N) asks.
As soon as the words escape her lips, the common room bursts to life. All of (Y/N)'s classmates jump out from the kitchen with some of the hero's favorite dishes, and with the lights on, (Y/N) can see a small stage with some drums, a keyboard, an electric guitar, and a mic. Jiro, Katsuki, Yayorozu, and Kirishima stand on it together. Jiro is playing the electric guitar, while Katsuki is on the drums, Yayorozu is on the keyboard, and Kirishima stands by the mic.
"Eh?!" She asks, "What's going on?!"
Jiro chuckles, "All Might told us that you might be feeling helpless and like you can't be a hero because of your past, so we wanted to make sure you knew you still can."
"Hit it!" Kaminari cheers!

"Yeah, you could be the greatest." Kirishima sings, "You can be the best, you can be the King Kong banging on your chest. You could beat the world, you could beat the war. You could talk to God, go banging on his door. You can throw your hands up, you can beat the clock. You can move a mountain, you can break rocks. You can be a master. Don't wait for luck. Dedicate yourself and you can find yourself."
The rest of class 1-A joins in, "Standing in the hall of fame, and the world's gonna know your name. 'Cause you burn with the brightest flame, and the world's gonna know your name. And you'll be on the walls of the hall of fame."
The other students stop and allow Kiri to continue, "You could go the distance, you could run the mile. You could walk straight through hell with a smile. You could be the hero, you could get the gold. Breaking all the records that thought, never could be broke. Do it for your people, do it for your pride. How you ever gonna know if you never even try? Do it for your country, do it for your name. 'Cause there's gonna be a day.."
Class 1-A joins again, "When your, standing in the hall of fame. And the world's gonna know your name, 'cause you burn with the brightest flame. And the world's gonna know your name, and you'll be on the walls of the hall of fame."
Now everyone is clapping and stomping their feet to the beat for the final few lyrics, "Be a champion, be a champion, be a champion, be a champion, on the walls of the hall of fame. Be students, be teachers. Be politicians, be preachers. Be believers, be leaders. Be astronauts, be champions. Be truth seekers. Be students, be teachers. Be politicians, be preachers. Be believers, be leaders. Be astronauts, be champions, standing in the hall of fame!"
(Y/N) doesn't realize she's crying until she feels something wet slide down her cheek, onto the floor, "And the world's gonna know your name, 'cause you burn with the brightest flame. And the world's gonna know your name, and you'll be on the walls of the hall of fame."
For the last few verses, class 1-A sings the occasional 'champion' part, while Katsuki and Kirishima sing the other lyrics together, "You could be the greatest, you can be the best. You can be the King Kong banging on your chest. You could beat the world, you could beat the war. You could talk to God, go banging on his door. You can throw your hands up, you can beat the clock. You can move a mountain, you can break rocks. You can be a master. Don't wait for luck. Dedicate yourself and you can find yourself..standing in the hall of fame."

When the song ends, (Y/N) falls to her knees, thankfully though, Iida is fast enough to catch her before she hurts herself.
"T-Thank you, everyone." She practically whispers, "T-This means a lot."
"God (Y/N), stop crying." Kirishima mutters, wiping his own eyes, "You're gonna make me cry!"
Before the girl can stop, Kiri rushes over bawling his eyes own and hugs the (E/C)-eyed girl. The rest of class 1-A soon follow suit.
Except, Katsuki and Midoryia.
The blond and green-haired boys stare down at the girl they both love. One knows not to say anything, and the other doesn't know how to win her over Kirishima. The only real thing these two have in common other than loving (Y/N), is that they've both loved her since childhood. Katsuki never showed it, but Midoryia tried. He tried to be more caring than anyone else, but the girl never knew, never noticed.
Katsuki showed it by making fun of her, or trying to make himself look better in comparison to others. But neither of them were noticed. The only reason (Y/N) knows that Kiri and Katsuki like her is because they admitted it, Midoryia, on the other hand, refuses to. Mostly because he knows what might happen, if he does.
(Y/N) might not be happy.
After some thinking, Katsuki finally joins the group hug.
Midoryia, though, he just stands there. He doesn't feel like he deserves to be there for her, of course, he's not at fault for her capture, but he still blames himself. Shoto notices this, and rushes over, grabbing the green-haired boy's hand and pulling him back into the group hug. As he pulls, Midoryia stares at his classmate, seeing the smile, similar to (Y/N)'s. Suddenly, his heart beats just a little bit faster, and his face begins to heat up.
What is this feeling? It's different.
When the group hug disperses, (Y/N)'s eyes are red and her cheeks are stained with tears, but she looks happy. Shoto and Midoryia were so distracted that both of them failed to notice that they are still holding hands. Before anyone else notices, (Y/N) speaks up.
"So, brother, when were you going to tell me?" She asks, pointing at their intertwined hands.
"Eh?!" the two boys leap away from each other.
(Y/N) giggles, "It's alright, I'm sure no one here would judge you anyways. If you two want to be together, so be it. That'd personally make me happy, for both of you."
Midoryia glances over at Shoto with his blushing face, and smiles. Thinking to himself, 'Maybe (Y/N) is right, if I want her to be happy, then I have to be with someone else.'
Shoto, feeling the gaze of the green-haired boy, turns to look at him. Midoryia quickly averts his gaze, causing Shoto to chuckle.
"Well, it's past your curfew, everyone." All Might finally interrupts, "Time for bed."
Slowly, class 1-A heads up to their dorm rooms.
When the tired (Y/N) gets into hers, she shuts the door and changes, then she practically jumps into her soft bed and falls asleep, sprawled out like a cat.
