Chapter 3-debutant invite

"Ok get off of me fatty" I say. "Oh wow I take offense" Jeremiah jokes. "Go cry about it" I say. He laughs and gets off of me and we head down to eat dinner.

We all where seated. I was sitting next to my sister. Across the table was Steven setting in between the two Fisher boys.

Steven had his face glued to his phone. "Steven put that god damn phone down" my mother lectured him. "It's just that we want to see all of your beautiful faces" Susannah says. "Can dinner be a screen free zone like the olden days" Susannah added. "Ya Steven screen free zone" Jeremiah mocked grabbing his phone and shooting it into the couch like it was a basketball. "Wooo nailed it!" Jeremiah cheered.

Everyone laughed except Steven. "We get it you have been working out" Steven glared at him. "Sounds like someone's jealous" I mock my older brother. "Your just jealous jere has a better body then you" Belly laughs. Her and I high five. "Ugh no I love my lean look" Steven defends. We all laugh. "The lean look" Conrad says while chuckling.

"Wait so how long till you leave for football camp?" Steven asks Conrad. "He quit" Jeremiah said. The table went silent. "You quit?" I ask looking at Conrad. He nods his head yes. "Are you kidding me man I would kill to play college football" Steven says. "He can always change his mind" Susannah says. "Mom I'm not gonna change my mind I would be a benchwarmer" Conrad says. Wow this dinner took a turn.

"So what are you going to be doing all summer then?" My mom asks Conrad. He just shrugs his shoulders. "You could work at the country club with us!" Steven suggested. "Ya!" Jeremiah agrees. "I'm not gonna work at the club" Conrad says shooting there dreams down. "Wait you guys are working this summer?" Belly asks. "Ya I'm lifeguarding and Steven is working at the snack shop!" Jeremiah says and him and Steven do there stupid hand shack. Belly and I share a look. Other then Conrad who seemed to be doing his own thing this summer we where the only ones who didn't have anything going on.

"Oh I almost forgot!" Susannah says getting up.  "I've got you girls a little surprise" Susannah grinned from ear to ear as she grabbed two envelopes.

"This is why we had to stop at the country club" my mom roles her eyes. Susannah gives my mom a little smirk and hands us both a envelope. "W-w-what is that?" Steven asks as we open the envelopes. "I got Em and belly  invitations to be debutants" Susannah smiles. She starts explaining what a debutant is while my mother shot down everything good she said about it.

It didn't sound like horrible but I don't know if it really would be my thing. However I know that it would mean a lot to Susannah but maybe my mom was right maybe it wouldn't be that cool. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do so I just said "I'll think about it" I tell Susannah. "Ok good Emma is thinking about what about you belly?" She looks at my sister who has the same puzzled look on her face. "I'm gonna have to think about it too" she replied. "Ok they will think about it" Susannah smiles at us.
