Narration II.

'I'll be there after lunch. Can you please make sure that the inventory is done? Thanks, Glen!'

After sending a reply to one of my staff at the bar, I headed inside the coffee shop to pick up the coffees and bagels that I phone in ordered just a while ago.

I am meeting my girlfriend, Naomi, today for lunch. But I already miss her, and I couldn't wait to see her. So, as a result, I will surprise visit her and give her and her workmates some breakfast.

After picking up the coffees and bagels, I made my way to her workplace with a huge grin plastered on my face. Iniisip ko palang na makikita ko ang magandang girlfriend ko, napapangiti na agad ako. Hanggang ngayon hindi pa rin ako makapaniwala na girlfriend ko na si Naomi.

Akala ko ilang taon ko pa siyang kailangang suyuin para malaman lang niya na seryoso talaga ako sakaniya. I already prepared a lot of cards up on my sleeve just to pursue her for 5 days – the ultimatum that she agreed to give me. But things really working out in my favour. Nagulat ako nang bigla niyang palitan 'yong nickname ko sa FB messenger ng Boyfriend.

Akala ko pa noong una nagkamali lang siya nang pindot, pero sakaniya na mismo nanggaling na totoo raw 'yon.

I couldn't explain the happiness that I was feeling that day. I was feeling ecstatic that I could only see rainbows and butterflies. That day is for sure one of the happiest days of my life.

May mga naging girlfriend din ako noon, pero ewan ko ba... t'wing maiisip ko palang na boyfriend ako ni Naomi para akong tanga na napapangiti nalang bigla. Iba talaga ang amats ko kay Naomi.

"Hi. Good morning," I greeted the unfamiliar receptionist with a smile. She must be new here. Nakakailang punta na rin ako dito pero ngayon ko lang siya nakita.

"Good morning po." she greeted back. "What can I help you, sir?"

"Pwede ko bang makausap si Naomi?" I asked.

"Yes sir sandali lang po." she replied before calling Naomi on the telephone. "Sir may kausap pa raw po si Ma'am Naomi, okay lang po ba na maghintay muna kayo dito?"

"Sure, no problem." I replied.

While waiting for Naomi, I placed the bag of bagels and coffees on the table. I also gave the receptionist her coffee and a bagel.

I'm not sure how many coworkers Naomi has, hopefully, what I bought is enough for everyone.

I am sitting comfortably on the couch when my phone chimes. It's a reply from Blaise. Sinabi ko kanina sakaniya na sosorpresahin ko ang ate niya. I pursed my lips together to hide the grin on my lips when I saw the heart emojis and gifs that Blaise sent.

"'Yon ba iyong boyfriend ni Naomi? Grabe ang gwapo, no?"

"Oo nga e! Mapapa-sana all ka nalang talaga!"

"Mukhang kailangan na din nating humanap ng jowa! Nakakainggit!"

My heart automatically sank when I heard what the two women were talking about. My hand trembles while my mouth suddenly felt dry. I don't want to assume anything, but I also want to confirm if what I'm thinking is right.

I managed to put a smile on my lips despite the sorrow that I'm feeling.

"Excuse me," I called. Agad naman nila akong nilingon at nginitian.

"Hala siya na yata iyong para sakin girl!" narinig kong bulong noong isang babae sa kasama niya.

"Pwede bang magtanong kung sino iyong kausap ni Naomi?"

My heart is thumping. Loud and fast.

Nagkatinginan silang sandali. "Ahh... si Trent, iyong boyfriend ata niya. Bakit?"

"Oh, I see..." is all I can reply. I couldn't hide the displeasure in my voice. I'm sure they also noticed the pain on my face, as the expression on their faces immediately changed to sympathy while they're staring at me.

There is an awkward silence between us three. They're both looking at me as if they wanted to ask something. I don't know what to say after hearing that. I wanted to correct them and tell them that I am the boyfriend and not Trent or anyone else, but my mouth wouldn't cooperate.

I was glad when the receptionist suddenly spoke and said that I can come inside to see Naomi. But I don't want to go inside anymore... knowing that Trent is still there.

I want to see her, but I don't want to see her with him...

Hesitating, I just muttered. "I will just come back. Thank you." before immediately walking out.
