Wrong Number – Chapter 6
⭐Lucy⭐
“You have a textmate.” Levy mused, and I knew it was supposed to be a question instead of a statement. “And it’s a boy?”
“Yeah.”
She smirked, pushing me lightly. “What did I tell you if it’s a boy?”
“Levy, it’s not the time for that kind of thing. So, here’s the twist. Yesterday, Natsu and Happy came in my house to eat dinner. When they were about to exit my house,—and I was texting the guy that time—something beeped nearby, and I knew it was a cellphone. That happened after I sent the message to that guy.” That time, my breathing became irregular. That beeping somewhere might be accidental and I might be assuming things. Maybe I might be going paranoid as well.
Levy flashed me a blank look. “There’s this little suspicion in my mind that you may not like, but whatever. Since Natsu and Happy were the ones in your house that time, they may be the one texting you. You said you heard it nearby. Still, this is just a suspicion of mine and it’s still unproven.”
What she said already popped in my mind. “If I’m basing it on the misspellings I’m encountering and on how they’re telling me how much they care for their guildmates, that may be true but...” I murmured, and all of a sudden I had an outburst that made Levy jump. “no! I don’t want to accept it. What if it’s my neighbor’s cellphone? They’re not the only one having their cellphones.”
Levy rolled her eyes. “Girl, you gotta accept it. You’ll never hear a beep with that distance. But... it might’ve come from a person passing by.”
She’s right. “That’s just it. We shouldn’t assume things. What I heard was maybe an imagination.”
Levy slammed her fists on the table. “That’s just it!” Levy exclaimed, my other guildmates from other tables looking at us suddenly. I shushed Levy and she sat down grinning. “This is the obvious solution to your question. Why don’t you ask him his name? You’re crazy since you haven’t asked him about that.”
“I never asked since he didn’t do it as well. I’d look like a creeper or stalker if I’m gonna be the first one to inquire.”
“You have a point...” She then chuckled at me. “So you want him to be forever mysterious? If I were you, my curiousness would’ve eaten me away. Don’t wait for too long, ‘kay? Make sure you introduce yourself soon.” Then the bluenette left. She was right. I have no time to waste.

what’s your name?

This message remained unsent for two hours. My reluctance, nervousness, and shyness was to blame. The bed was messy and unpresentable to anyone because of the tossing and turning I did.
“Should I send this?” I questioned myself for the second time.

good afternun!
≈≈
Instead of my heart racing in my chest, a laugh escaped my mouth. This guy sure knows how to make my day end good with his spelling.
And ugh. I forgot to get Natsu’s cellphone number, and it’s been two weeks! I’m such an idiot. I’ll ask him when he stops by.
I unintentionally sent the message that I typed two hours ago and I just groaned.

≈≈
N... there’s only one name that’s on my head. I gulped, a drop of sweat trickling down my forehead. This is so not him... maybe? No! This isn’t him.

≈≈
From: Mr. N

≈≈
To: Mr. N

≈≈
From: Mr. N
oh no! I’ve got to find my teammate! we’re going on a mission. talk to yu later!
≈≈
And as if on cue, Natsu bursts in my room, panting. “There you are! We’re going on a mission today, Luce!” Happy flew around the room, broadcasting our mission but I never intended to listen to him. Natsu grinned, leaving me breathless for awhile. It’s his grin again. And now, I have this sudden suspicion. Could he be Mr. N?
I tried to shrug off the uneasy feeling and dressed up for the mission. “I’m ready!”
Happy flew with Natsu and I to the train station and we went inside the train. Natsu’s face went green again. As what I always did, I pulled Natsu’s head, and this time I made it land on my shoulder. “Throw me off the window please.” He blurted out, clutching his stomach. “Ohh, stars!” He exclaimed weakly and passed out.
Happy chuckled as I bit my lip. I have to ask. “Happy?”
“Yeah?”
“Do you have a cellphone?”
“No, but Natsu has it.” He stared out the window and murmured random things. “Fish... Carla...”
The lump on my throat was getting bigger as each second passed by. “So... I want to have his number for emergency purposes.”
Happy’s daydreaming bubble burst and he looked at me with a ridiculous look on his face. “Really, Lucy? You’re all fidgeting and you’re blushing? What the heck happened to you?” He gasped in an overreacting manner. “You liiiike him!” He giggled, looking at Natsu who already passed out.
“No, I don’t. Just what is his number?” He opened his mouth with a cheshire grin and I gave him a death glare. “Answer me properly if you still want to have that grin on your face in ten seconds and if you don’t want to be thrown out the window.”
Happy raised his paws in surrender. “Chill. I don’t know. And don’t even ask him. He didn’t memorize his number.”
Really? That’s insane! But I should’ve expected this as Happy’s answer. I took a deep breath and got ready to question him again. “Is he... texting someone?”
“Lucy’s possessive!” I whacked his head.
“Get serious, cat.”
“I don’t know! Why would I care? I’m texting Carla through his phone, but the sad thing is that she’s not replying at all. I was planning to get a phone maybe later.” A sigh escaped my lips as Natsu’s head slid down my shoulder. “He probably doesn’t have his phone with him right now. I don’t think he’s using it at all.” That made me quite relieved, but a part of me was disappointed to hear that. It’s not Natsu Dragneel.

yu now what, the name of my teammate is Lucy.
≈≈
Currently, I was laying on my bed, trying to relax from the mission we’ve accomplished. A text startled me, and when I have read it, nobody could explain the shock on my face.
≈≈
To: Mr. N
really? I think we have the same name... kidding.
≈≈
I don’t want to tell this guy that my name is Lucy, and I don’t really know why...
≈≈
From: Mr. N
I don’t now. and don’t tell this to her, but I have someone I like as of dis moment. it’s actually her...
≈≈
To: Mr. N
what? okay but... I don’t even know her! how would I be able to tell her that?
≈≈
Of course I cannot afford to assume that that Lucy he’s talking about is me. There are many girls in the world whose name is Lucy. And like!? Okay he trusted me too quick.
≈≈
From: Mr. N
oh, right, haha... I trust you on dis.
≈≈
Sighing, something told me to not reply for the message he sent me. He never bothered asking my name because maybe he’s shy. But my gut tells me he’s not shy all the time. Aw, come on, Lucy. You can’t be interested on a guy you just met! You’re ridiculous. You’re not having a monologue in your brain now, are you?
Yes, maybe I was a little interested in him because he’s really mysterious and all that. I’ve been texting this guy for almost two weeks and still, his name his unknown to me.
Soon I went to sleep, Mr. N still on my mind.

“Lucy!!” Natsu burst through the guild doors with Happy, wide grins on their faces while everyone were having chit-chats. Today, Mirajane had announced that today was no cellphone day. Anyone who breaks the rule will have a severe punishment. This caused the whole guild to groan and protest, but they couldn’t do anything about it because of course, this was Mirajane. Even Master is afraid to break the rule, although from time to time he says he’s missing his phone.
I on the other hand don’t know if it’s a good thing or not. Mr. N has probably sent me a lot of messages and it’ll be a hassle to look through them. Honestly speaking, I want to talk to him right now. But I guess I have to save my thoughts for later.
“Good morning. I’m going to pay for my rent later. Let’s go on a job?”
“That’s what we were planning to do. To invite you to a job.” Happy said, occasionally giving Carla weird glances. Something tells me that something happened last night. “Natsu picked a job.” Natsu raised the flyer with a toothy grin.
I snatched it from him. “Forest is the place. Well, sure. The reward can make me shop later for food.”
“Give us some later, alright?” Natsu nudged me, winking. My cheeks went pink from the wink. He rarely did it, and I admit, he did look kind of a cool dude.
“Yeah, yeah, whatever. Let’s go.”
☎☎
“H-Hello?” I inquired through the dark trees. My voice just echoed through the whole forest, and I highly doubt that Natsu hears my voice. I bit my trembling lips, afraid that nobody might ever find me in here again.
If you’re all confused then here’s the thing: I got lost. Well, technically speaking I was the one who got lost, but some strange light from somewhere blinded us and that’s when I got lost.
“Is anybody there? Is anybody there? Is anybody there?” I sighed, knowing that my voice just echoed through the whole forest. “I’m dead.”
Mirajane had told us to never use our cellphones but my urge to break that rule got stronger. My conscience was gonna kill me if Mirajane would find out about this, and the punishment was making me nervous.
I shoved my hands in my pocket and I felt relieved when it was still there. Mirajane would understand. But let’s just hope that she will not give me the punishment...

my teammate, Lucy, got lost!
≈≈
This was the latest text I’ve received, and I didn’t bother reading the previous ones. I was a little surprised to see his message with no incorrect spelling.
≈≈
To: Mr. N
I am lost too. no, seriously I need help.
≈≈
As I waited for his reply, my feet moved on its own and I just walked with my bright flashlight. I suddenly found a cliff, and at that moment I realized we were at a mountain. This was gonna be hard. Ugh. But then why is there a signal on the mountain? This is so weird.
≈≈
From: Mr. N
isn’t this a koinsidence? I’m gonna try to find you as well as Lucy. deskribe your surroundings.
≈≈
I’m gonna laugh if I told him my name. “I’m gonna find you, Lucy, and I’m gonna find Lucy along the way as well.” His lines might be something like that. But now’s not the time for laughing. I gotta get out of here. Though now, I’m getting nervous...
≈≈
To: Mr. N
I’m actually by a cliff, although I’m still inside a certain forest. don’t know the name. the forest is dark and almost scared me to death earlier because of a light. the light separated me from them. from my guildmates. I could really use some help...
≈≈
From: Mr. N
okay, wayt there.
≈≈
I sat by the cliff, waiting for Happy and Natsu or Mr. N to rescue me. It’s all a coincidence...
The sun began to set, and a gust of chilly wind nipped on my skin. The wind was creepy.
≈≈
From: Mr. N
were are yu guys? I can’t seem to find yu two.
≈≈
I was about to reply but something stopped me from doing it.
Calling
Mr. N
Accept
Reject
A lump formed in my throat. Holy Cheese! Too sudden! I admit, maybe I’m not just “interested” in this guy, maybe I do have a little crush on him but... things escalated quickly. He’s now calling me!
Accept.
I brought the phone to my ears and all I heard was a deafening silence. I didn’t dare speak, even just a squeak of hello. He didn’t speak either so we just stayed quiet. With that, I had forgotten that I was lost. Why did he call?
“Ehem.” There was a short moment tranquility, and with that clearing of throat, I instantly knew it was a man’s voice. “Where are you?” He spoke in a raspy way that made me shiver. Not only that, his voice seemed familiar. The words I was about to say got stuck in my throat. “Miss L?”
“S-Sorry?” I squeaked.
I heard him chuckle on the other side of the phone. “Cute voice,” He mumbled and I blushed. “Where are you?” He asked again, this time slowly.
“U-Uh, I have texted it to you.” He didn’t reply and there was that peace again.
“Where are you? I can’t seem to find you.” His voice... it was so familiar. Where have I heard it?
“Well of course you wouldn’t find me easily. It’s a coincidence I got lost along with your teammate.”
He forgot about the light? I’m not surprised. I heard Happy’s voice in my head for some reason.
“Where are you?” I didn’t know how many times he’s asked me that.
I looked around, feeling exasperated. “I'm...” A figure appeared in front of me, holding a cellphone. A familiar figure. “here.”
