Wrong Number – Chapter 3

⭐Lucy⭐

“Wake up.” My alarm told me. “Today is Fairy Tail’s Christmas Party, and the time is 5:30 PM.” My eyes shot open in an instant. Oh no. The party was gonna start at 6 PM, and a blond girl which is me is still in bed! Erza is gonna kill me.

“Oh no.” The window was smashed into little pieces. Someone had to fix this. And maybe it’s Natsu because he’s the only one who goes through the window. It’s impossible that  a bird did this.

“Someone’s gonna be the death of me, too.” Rolling my eyes, I went to the shower and took a bath. I wore formal clothes since Mira had told us to wear some.

I grabbed the big bag that contained the gifts for my guildmates. Of course, I made sure they were complete before going out. I somehow looked like Santa Claus with this big bag on my shoulder, but I don’t care.

“Be careful, young lady!” The fishermen reminded as I locked my door, and I just smiled at them.

Before I could even open the guild’s doors, someone made the door fly open. “Merry Christmas!” Gray yelled with Juvia staring at him with hearts and admiration in her eyes. I looked at him weirdly before walking past him and looking around.

“Uh, Natsu? Shouldn’t you be wearing formal clothes? This is a Christmas party. Mira had reminded us for that.” Lisanna crossed her arms at Natsu. I shook my head at him. And since when did he follow rules? When Erza bossed him around?

“Lucy!”

“Levy!” We wrapped our arms around each other. “Is your gift for him good?” I asked, pertaining to Gajeel.

“Yeah. The one he rants to Lily every single day. “White suite and a guitar. Add a red rose and it’s perfect.”” He mimicked Gajeel and we burst out laughing. It’s totally Gajeel. I mean, when Juvia asked what was the perfect gift for a boy, he totally said what was on his mind. “How about you?”

“The phone is perfect.”

“You totally rock in your outfit.” She grinned proudly.

“Thanks. You too.”

“Let’s just know who that guy is.” She winked and I bid my goodbye to her as I went around giving gifts for my guildmates.

The third to the last gift I had in my bag was for Master.

“Master Makarov!” I shouted through the mass of crowd. He turned to me with a questioning look on his face. “Merry Christmas!” I cheerfully said, smiling at him brightly and handing out my gift.

He grinned at me, and I couldn’t help but squeal in my head. “Thanks, Lucy. Merry Christmas to you, too.”

The last two gifts was for: one-Natsu and Happy and two- for baconlover. I guess I’ll have to give it to them later.

“Attention: it’s gift giving time!” Wendy’s bright smile made everyone smile. Her dress was also bright that everyone stopped to listen to her. “I’m starting with myself. I had picked meltingice01, and it’s a boy.” Gray raised his hands and he reached out for his gift.

“Thanks. I picked refreshingwater, and it’s a girl.”

We all heard screaming. “Ahhhh! That’s Juvia! That’s me!” Juvia ran all the way to Gray and tackled him with a hug. All of us laughed. Come to think of it, when will Gray answer Juvia’s feelings?

“Ow! Get off of me!”

“Thank you, Gray-sama!” She sputtered in a high voice, kissing him in his cheek. All of us let out whoops of excitement, teasing Gray relentlessly who was blushing a deep shade of red.

“Aw, ice princess is blushing!” Natsu exclaimed and we all laughed.

The gift-giving continued and I still didn’t receive my gift. Where is mine?

“Excuse me!!” Natsu waved his hand in the air. “I haven’t received my gift! Where is it?” He hasn’t received his too?

“Uh, mine too.” I mumbled.

Wendy looked surprised. “Oh. Well then, let’s start with Lucy.”

I slowly walked towards the little stage and blurted out, “baconlover, male—”

“That’s me!” Natsu exclaimed, running up to claim his gift. My eyes widened. He didn’t have a phone? He snatched the gift from me as I remembered something.

“Natsu, I uhh... got something for you and Happy.” I gave him another paperbag.

“Really?! Oh yeah! I can tell this is food!” He grinned. “Thanks, Luce!” I somehow expected something—a hug—but instead he gave me a punch that was supposed to be light, yet it threw me on the opposite corner of the guild. My blood boiled at my guildmates laughing at me like there was no tomorrow and Natsu who just stood there, smiling at me sheepishly. I was like “Yeah, just smile at me and don’t help me.” but I just kept myself from saying that and frowned. I stood up and dusted off my dress as I walked out the guild with a swollen shoulder.

“That must’ve hurt.” I heard someone murmur. Yeah, it really hurt. That punch was like Natsu’s punch for Gray. I slammed the door shut behind me.

“Lucy!” I didn’t turn around and ignored him. “Lucy! Ow!” Just like that, I turned around and that’s when my wrists were gripped. “Gotcha. It was the only way to make you turn around.” He grinned.

“What do you want? Can you leave me alone?”

“I was just here to apologize. Sorry.” He actually knew how to apologize? Is this Natsu? Am I dreaming? Never have I ever imagined him apologizing. His pride was so high and hard to crush.

“Really, huh?” I narrowed my eyes at him disbelievingly. His apology didn’t look sincere to me.

“Really.” He answered seriously that it made me shudder. This is not Natsu Dragneel in front of me. How could he be Natsu Dragneel when he’s hanging around Christmas lights, cooking and most of all, apologizing? Gray would apparently make fun of him. Worried, I touched his forehead.

“Mister, are you okay? Are you sick? Shall I take care of you?” He slapped my hand away.

“I am fine, Lucy.”

“Did the spirit of Christmas get to you? Or are you like that because Santa is coming?”

“Stop playing with me. I’m dead serious.” His voice sent chills on my spine.

“I... I see.” I mumbled quietly, looking away. My tongue got tied up from his sudden change of attitude.. “I better go.”

He held my hand. “Shouldn’t you be going back to the guild?” I stared at him, baffled. “You don’t have your gift with you. You want your Christmas with no gifts at all?” Seriously, I don’t know if this is Natsu. My eyes are playing with me. It can’t be. “Come on!” He practically dragged me all the way to the guild. “Guys, she’s back!” The attention went to us and I pushed Natsu so he’d go upstairs.

He cleared his throat as everyone went silent. “Uhm, brownworm07, female.” Well, this is surely unexpected.

I slowly climbed up the stage. I was a girl, so I had expected him to help me up or something because I was in a dress, but he didn’t. What should I expect?

“So it was you.” He whispered in my ear. “Here you go.”

“I don’t know if it’s just me or what, but aren’t they sweet?” Wendy said over the microphone, making me back away from Natsu.

“I agree!”

“Me too!”

I blushed as I walked down the stage. “Here you go.” My blood boiled again when I felt something hit my back. But then it disappeared when I looked at the floor.

I didn’t know he’d actually get me a gift. Guess he didn’t forget about me, after all.

☎☎

“This is pretty cute.” I blurted out, staring at the keychain in front of me. It was the Fairy Tail insignia with Happy, Natsu and I in it. I appreciate the gift. It was from him and Happy.

But hey, speaking of that pink headed boy...

“Yo, Lucy!”

“Don’t “yo, Lucy” me. What have you done to my window? What if a thief went in?” I glared at him.

“Woah, someone had a bad morning.” He raised his hands in surrender, eyeing me. I cocked an eyebrow impatiently when he didn’t answer my question. “Oh, and yeah, about that.” He grinned at me sheepishly and I continued glaring at him. “Happy and I had no food so we decided to go to your house.”

“More like infiltrate my house.”

“So you know me, I always go in and out the window, so I decided that I should enter through the window. It was locked, so I had to break it.” He then paused, thinking of something. “Come to think of it, how come you never woke up to that noise?” I smacked his head. Happy was lucky he wasn’t here or else he would’ve gotten a smack in the head too.

I rolled my eyes. “Couldn’t you just knock on my door?” Oh wait. Natsu never learned to do that. Ever since I met him, he’s been breaking in my house like it was his house.

“If I did that, you wouldn’t let me in, considering the fact that you’re asleep. And I’m sorry, Happy and I were just so hungry our tummies are growling.”

I sighed. I guess I could let him off the hook. But I didn’t want to forget that he broke my window. “All right. But you have to fix my window.”

“I don’t know how to fix that!”

“Then find a way, idiot. If you don’t fix that then I’m gonna have to make you pay for it.”

He huffed, crossing his arms. “Okay, fine.” He mumbled, jumping out the broken window.

“Hey! Next time, don’t go in and out through the window!” I reminded him, though I was so sure he didn’t hear it. Even if he did hear me, he will never listen.

He really likes to break things.

I hung the keychain on my phone.

Then I suddenly remembered something. I forgot to get his number and save it in my contacts!
