Wrong Number – Chapter 2

“Tell me all about it!” Levy nudged me, winking. She was glad because she had picked Gajeel. How she knew that she picked Gajeel was a wonder. She told me that I should tell the name of the one I’ve picked too, though I don’t know his name.

“It’s baconlover, male. His wish is food, food, and a... selfone? Oh. It’s cellphone.” I said, feeling weird and funny. I cocked an eyebrow at the paper in my hands which was later snatched by Levy.

Levy soon burst into laughter. “What a weird guy. Food and cellphone? Someone doesn’t have a phone here? Well, that’s news to me.” She mumbled. “But oh well, I guess you should buy him a cellphone. Like, really. Everyone needs a cellphone.” Levy smiled suggestively. “And you should get his number.” She wiggled her eyebrows at me as I slapped her playfully.

“I guess I’d buy him a phone.” I said, agreeing with her. “But I don’t know if he’ll like the phone that I’ll buy for him.” My worried tone made Levy smile at me and shake her head.

“He’ll like it, don’t ya worry.” She replied, winking at me. “Anyway, Levy McGarden must leave. My team is waiting.” Chuckling, she bid her goodbye and followed her two teammates.

I looked around for a certain boy with pink hair. “I’ve got to invite him to a mission.” My face had a frown when I didn’t see him. Where is that guy when I need him? He’s not here fighting with Gray. Oh. Gray’s been holding his phone. Come to think of it, does Natsu even have a phone? If he does, then I’d have to get his cellphone number immediately.

I sighed and gave up after a few minutes of searching. “I’ll just buy the exchange gift, then.” I murmured as I went to the big mall.

I shopped for clothes and shoes. It was necessary because my clothes had been stolen by someone, probably a thief. There were still clothes in my closet, but it wasn’t enough.

After shopping, I saw a taco stand. I bought three tacos and, like Natsu, I gobbled them up. I suddenly imagined a blue cat snickering at me saying: “You’re getting too fat! Natsu might not be able to carry you anymore!” He would just be the death of me. I mean, how rude was that? It could make my self-esteem drop to zero. That hurt.

I then roamed around the mall and something caught my eye. Oh, a cellphone. “Uh, miss? How much is that phone?” I asked the saleslady, smiling. That phone is perfect.

“Fifty thousand jewels.” Oh. Big money, but I have to get it for the exchange gift. My hands trembled as I gave the last of my money to the saleslady. “Thank you,” She smiled at me. “Is the cellphone a gift for someone?” I nodded. “Let me wrap it.” After she wrapped it, she gave me the cellphone which was wrapped around a Christmas wrapper.

I was about to exit the mall when I saw a pink headed boy. “Hey!” I yelled.

He turned around curiously. “Lucy!” He ran towards me. “Yo! What are you doing here?”

“Same to you. Someone like you actually knew how to shop, huh?” He glared at me. “I bought the gift.”

He nodded. “I did too.” Then silence enveloped us. “Gotta hurry!” He scurried away, holding something.

Did he get me a gift? I got something for him. Maybe he forgot about me.

“Lucy! Lucy! Lucy!” A blue cat flew towards me in a mind blowing speed. “Natsu! Natsu’s in danger!” What!? But he just left a moment ago!

“Where is he?”

“I’ll show you!”

“You’ve gotta be kidding me.” Happy led me to my apartment. The question shouldn’t be “Why was he injured?” It should be “What is he doing in my apartment?” In my opinion, he burned something.

Happy opened the door for me. I frowned when I saw that it was dark. Don’t tell me that electricity is gone. My heart almost went out of my chest when the lights was suddenly turned on and a pink haired boy yelled: “Surprise!” Goodness. What in the world is happening?

“I-I thought you were—”

Happy went beside him and rolled his eyes. “That’s why it’s called surprise.” He turned to Natsu. “Natsu, she doesn’t know the meaning of surprise. Explain it to her, please.”

“Shut up, you neko. Natsu—”

“What? You don’t think I would be able to do this?” I hate to say this, but he read my mind. “Yes, I did this. I didn’t seek help from anyone.” Anyone wouldn’t believe him, especially Gray. He would probably laugh at him. Anyone in the guild would. “Come in.”

Wow, it was like I was the guest in his house. Nonetheless, I entered the house and felt awestruck at the sight I have seen. My apartment was decorated with colorful Christmas lights. I wonder. How long did he do this? I wasn’t gone for that long, and I just met him earlier. Also, I wonder if he destroyed anything just by hanging around these Christmas lights.

“Lucy, did you know that Natsu practiced hanging around Christmas lights?” Happy interrupted my chain of thoughts. I chuckled at what he told me.

“Really?”

“Yeah.” Happy and I laughed with Natsu blushing. Well, that was sweet of him. This was the first time he did something like this.

“So why did you do this?” I queried, looking around.

“To thank you, I guess.”

I whirled my head towards him. “Wow, you actually know how to thank someone.” I mused. He glared at me.

“You’re welcome.” He sarcastically rolled his eyes. I guess he was expecting me to thank him. After all, this was hard to prepare.

I smiled at him warmly. “Thanks.” But I had to smack him. “But you didn’t have to do this. My electricity bill will go up.” He frowned, scratching the back of his head. “I appreciate the effort, though.”

Happy suddenly pulled me to the kitchen. Once again, I was awestruck. In the table laid different dishes. These delicacies didn’t look like they were delivered.

“Wha—”

“He cooked it.” Happy muttered. Cook? Since when did Natsu learn how to cook? I can’t imagine him wearing an apron and waiting for a dish to cook. He’d definitely burn it. “He asked Mirajane for help.” Happy added.

“So that explains,” I laughed. “Does it taste good?”

Natsu rolled his eyes. “Don’t eat it if you want. I could cook! What do you think of me? A little kid?” Totally. You took the words out of my mouth. He huffed, looking away. “Geez, so much for the effort.”

I smiled at him. “I didn’t say anything about not eating it. Thanks again.” He blushed and didn’t say anything.

The three of us sat on my dining table. I slowly brought the food to my mouth, afraid that it might taste bad. I closed my eyes when the food was in my mouth.

“Well...? How is it?” Happy inquired as I chewed the food.

My eyes gleamed. “It tastes good!” Natsu grinned. “I can’t believe you cooked this!” He then frowned, and happy and I guffawed. “You must’ve listened to Mirajane attentively.”

“I went to Carla and Wendy’s dorm, so I don’t know if he did.” Happy munched on the fish in front of him, his eyes glimmering as he bites.

“Are you all teasing me or what?” Natsu inquired, huffing and rolling his eyes. I found his annoyed state quite of cute. But anyway, I have to enjoy this because this event might never happen again.

We ate as Happy blabbered about how Carla was so cute when she folded Wendy’s clothes and how cute she was whenever Happy gives her a compliment. “She then says: “Shut up, tomcat!” while blushing but obviously she loved the compliment.” He giggled.

“Somebody was struck by the cupid’s arrow roughly. Happy, you’re totally in love.” I mocked, smirking. Well, this is payback for all the teasings he did to me.

“I know. You are too. With Natsu.” He retorted, chuckling as I blushed. What was that all about? I glanced at Natsu who didn’t seem fazed at what was happening. Right. He was focusing too much on his food. Even if he did hear this, he wouldn’t care.

“Really, Happy?” I murmured as I took a bite of the sushi. “How about you, Natsu? How’s life? We’ve been disbanded for a year, and I hadn’t heard anything from you.”

He glanced up and paused from eating. “Everything was still the same, though you and my guildmates weren’t there so it was kind of lonely.” It was really cheesy, not until he added up: “I couldn’t fight anyone.” I fought the urge to roll my eyes.

“So you have told me that you met Gildarts while you were away. How was it?”

“We kinda fought—”

“But he lose.” Happy finished for him and I laughed. It was always the same. Nothing changed.

“What about you?” Natsu flicked back the question after awhile. “Happy totally laughed when I burned a part of your clothes and saw your cleavage.” That was when I smacked Happy and Natsu. How could he talk about that bluntly?

“Pervs.” I mumbled.

“I just laughed! Natsu stared at it!” Happy pointed out and I glared at Natsu.

“Stop telling her that it was me!” I rolled my eyes as they started their debate.

After some time, they started whispering something to each other. “Natsu, we have to go.”

“Why? I’m not yet done eating.”

“We have to wrap—”

“What are you guys talking about?” I queried, leaning in. I peered at them when they didn’t answer. “Come on, share a little secret.”

“It’s a secret so we can’t tell you.” Happy said before pulling up Natsu whose sad eyes lingered on his unfinished food.

“Wait—” But Happy already took away Natsu. I sighed at the food in front of me. “I guess I have to finish this up on my own.” I groaned.
