Chapter 15

Standing still, Zhang Wei spoke, "I knew you were strong, but no one else could evade my attacks like that before."

"Is that so?" Yueting asks mockingly. She couldn't call him insane yet; she hadn't seen much from him so far.

It seemed as if his bloodlust kept rising, as both the residents and Meiyang stared, unable to do anything. "You shouldn't anger him," Meiyang remarks, seemingly worried. "You can't kill me," Yueting asserts, waiting a moment before continuing. "I'm the so-called hero, and I'm here to rectify the mistakes of your parents' creation." Yueting steps forward. "Regardless of whether you cooperate or not, it will be your loss," Yueting adds, this time waiting for Zhang Wei's response. His response was laughter. "Do you think you can change me?" he exclaims, now clearly on the verge of insanity. "I don't," Yueting retorts, catching everyone off guard.

Even Zhang Wei crept back into his previous position, staring at Yueting, waiting for clarification. "I won't be the one changing you; it will be you yourself. Though if you don't cooperate, then I will just have to find a new king," Yueting stated. Somehow, with every word Yueting uttered, the residents, Meiyang, and Zhang Wei became more shocked. Her claims were crazy compared to those of the emperor himself. If the emperor was insane, then Yueting was even worse in their eyes. Not only had she challenged him, but she also dared to tell him to correct himself.

"Don't mistake my words; I'm not your enemy. To be correct, you haven't yet done anything to make me your enemy," Yueting states, her words sincere as she stops walking towards him. She was close to him yet still a few steps away. Laughing, Zhang Wei speaks, "You went through all that just to say I'm not your enemy? Something's seriously wrong with you," he says, laughing.

As he began laughing, the bad atmosphere instantly cleared. Just a second ago, he was acting like a weirdo, but now he's acting normal-ish again? His personality changes were crazy. What if this was some type of schizophrenic thing? "Why not worry about this tomorrow?" Zhang Wei suggests, wanting to sigh again but trying not to. Yueting agrees.

Meiyang used to hate it when Yueting sighed, as it seemed very judgmental.

Yueting was allowed to sleep in one of the castle rooms, which seemed very generous considering how rude she was. The next morning, she gets thrown out of her bed.

⌞ALARM⌝

⌞CULTIVATOR WORLD UNDER ATTACK⌝

Jumping out of bed, she notices the notification and frantically tries to figure out what happened. "What happened??" she asks the system.

⌞System message: The demon realm attacked the cultivator clan, claiming he has the hero on his side and is there to preserve justice.⌝

"HUUUH?" Yueting says, quickly clothing herself. Taking out her swords, she remembered something: people in Chinese novels could fly on their swords. "Is it quicker to fly on my sword?" Yueting asks the system.

⌞System message: Yes.⌝

Hurrying, she opens the window and steps on the side of it. "Teach me," she demands the system.

⌞Auto learning simple sword flying..⌝

⌞20%... 40%... 50%... 80%..⌝

⌞Method learned.⌝

With that, knowledge practically spawns in her head. She knows using this for strong methods would be dangerous, so she has to pray that this was an easy ability.

Flying on her sword, one on her back and one used to fly, it doesn't take her long to arrive at the scene with the system's navigation.

The place where they were supposedly fighting was next to the border city. Flying over it, Yueting could already hear fighting, and the closer she got, the more demon forces she saw. She was looking for Zhang Wei and Meiyang themselves, not for the general troops. Luckily, she had the system's navigation, and in just a few minutes, she arrived at the scene. They were fighting the cultivators, probably higher-ranked ones based on their appearance. It was close to the nearby cliff. They were probably trying to make Zhang Wei fall down there somehow.

Jumping off her sword and putting it back onto her back, she swiftly lands on the floor, in the midst of it all.

"It's the hero!" one of the cultivators screams. "We're done for!" another one yells. Turning around, Yueting gazes at them for a moment but remains silent. Stepping forward towards Zhang Wei, who wears a vicious smile, and Meiyang, who stands next to him with her sword drawn, Yueting acts without hesitation. She quickly draws her sword and presses it against Zhang Wei's neck, a trickle of blood already flowing down.

"Zhang Wei, you've gone too far," Yueting asserts, leaving the cultivators shocked.

"I knew you'd come," Zhang Wei responds. As he speaks, Meiyang appears behind Yueting, ready to strike with her sword. Yueting evades the attack at the last second by stepping to the side. Because Yueting was so close to Zhang Wei, Meiyang had to cancel her attack at the last minute.

The cultivators remained confused. How could the hero be attacking the emperor of demons, after all?

"What are you waiting for?" Yueting yells to the cultivators. The one who appeared to be the leader signals for them to attack. As the cultivators rush in, Yueting takes a step back. The supposed leader remains in the same spot as before, seemingly waiting for an explanation.

"Speak your questions," Yueting says, while holding off a few of the demons that are also attacking.

"Are you truly the hero?" the leader asks.

"I am," Yueting answers, calmly slashing through the demons as she speaks.

"I've come here to correct this mistake of an emperor," Yueting says, glancing at Zhang Wei.

"I see. Then we shall fight at your side, as the prophecy intended," the leader responds.

"I'm Yueting. Remember that name, and I shall remember yours," Yueting declares, suddenly adopting a heroic tone.

"I'm Li Tiancheng," the leader, now known as Li Tiancheng, replies.

Giving him an approving nod, Yueting retrieves her swords and rushes toward Zhang Wei. So far, one of the sect's stronger masters has been battling him, but even he is reaching his limit.

"Step aside. You've done enough," Yueting commands the sect master, drawing from her being chinese and having a little knowledge.

As the sect master steps aside, Yueting and Zhang Wei engage in a fierce fight. Zhang Wei uses one sword, while Yueting sticks with her dual swords.

Yueting isn't a very graceful fighter, so unlike other battles, theirs doesn't look beautiful at all; it's just a relentless exchange of blows.

"Yueting, you won't win this fight," Zhang Wei declares as he strikes for her head. Using her two swords, she holds him off. The fight goes on and on, with Yueting alternating between defending and attacking. However, her primary concern isn't just the duel; the cultivators are struggling against the high-ranking demons by Zhang Wei's side, so Yueting must address that first.

Demons and other dark creatures detested the holy, so Yueting had the perfect ability for dealing with them. It was one of the abilities that worked in the other world where magic prevailed. Since qi was used here, she had to improvise before using it. In the other world, abilities required mana. Perhaps if she followed a similar process but with qi, it would work?

"System, attempt to activate Celestial Cascade with qi."

⌞System message: Master, you're overexerting yourself. If you continue learning abilities like these, you will drain your energy, especially with modifications.⌝

Ignoring the system's warning, Yueting spoke once again. She had nothing to lose, and her adrenaline was rising rapidly.

"Then activate Celestial Cascade, modify it to use qi, and activate the power," Yueting finishes. By "the power," she refers to the enhancement that makes her stronger, practically with no drawbacks, except for its suppression of her emotions, turning her into a fighting machine.

⌞Activating abilities...⌝

Afterward, a huge dark golden cloud appears above them, covering the entire city and beyond. As the cloud rains down a beautiful golden mist, it weakens the demons and heals the cultivators' wounds. This ability is incredibly powerful, which is why Yueting can only hope she won't exhaust herself too much.

❝In the face of adversity, heroes stand tall, their courage a guiding light in the darkest of times.❝
