I have decided to write little snippets of poetry for my friends' books that I find interesting. I might add little phrases belonging to the author 😉.

We were like a mirror
that reflected the dark side of life

The sorrow, the loneliness, the pain
like little smears of dirt on a false, shiny surface

Then, there was a rock
zooming at us like a hungry missile
And we shattered

Fragments cut through our skins
Breaking us, destroying us
till we were nothing but little shards

Fractured monsters
with thorns that sting
Fractured angels
with little fractured wings

Fissures spread like a spider's web
But spiders take a beating, so do we

The lies we tell, the fears we have
are extensions of the crevices in our hearts

But sometimes what's broken
isn't as broken as you think
It's just . . . cracked

Where my crack ends, yours begins
We break it more to let the light in
so that it looks more beautiful

Fractured monsters
with thorns that sting
Fractured angels
with little fractured wings

We come together like puzzle pieces,
my edges joining yours

We are now whole and pure
One colour, different shades
like a rainbow on a rainy day

We hold hands and hold hearts
We fix them, they fix us
till we reform the same mirror

But now it reflects something else

It reflects a picture that says:

"We are broken but beautiful,
fractured but fearless,
cracked but confident
dented but dauntless"

And so are you

Fractured monsters
with heads in the sky
Fractured angels
who've learned how to fly
