Year Two| 10

Rey's Point Of View

I took a deep breath as I faced my class. I don't know why I'm so nervous... I wasn't this nervous last year. I haven't been able to stop thinking about Ben lately, but when I talk about him it makes feel nervous.

I took a deep breath and tried to pretend that I was alone. Then I began to read the paper I wrote about Ben.

"'Ben Solo is one of my favorite authors. He is the author of one of my favorite series, The Starlight Chronicles. But more than that, he is one of my best friends.

Last year I wrote him a letter telling him how much I liked his book and he wrote back. We've been writing each other every week since then." I stopped for a moment as I felt my cheeks redden slightly. Then I took a deep breath before continuing.

"'Ben's favorite author is J.R.R. Tolkien. His favorite books are Lord of the Rings, Beren and Luthien, and Rangers Apprentice. He loves fantasy and science fiction books.

He has dreamt of becoming an author since he was very young. The other kids would at his school made fun of him because of it, but his dream came true.

He started writing The Starlight Chronicles when he was nineteen and self published it when he was twenty.

I chose him as my favorite author not just because he is a good author, but because he is a great person and a wonderful friend.'"

I tried not to let the tears enter my voice. "If you want to meet him, he is going to have a book signing at the bookstore across from the Ahch-To Academy."

I looked over at my teacher, she nodded and I hurried back to my seat. I sighed, I wished that I could meet him.

Ben's Point Of View

~Two Days Later~

I sat at my desk, opening the letter I just received from Rey.

~💌~

Dear Ben,

That sounds like a great book, I will try to find it and read it!

I'm just writing it for me and my friends. But I might post it one day. Maybe I can send it to you or post it on a sight that you can read it on.

Ben, you know that I'm not a princess.

Thank you so much for helping me with my paper, I got an A.

Ben I'm sorry, I can't go to your book signing. I have to meet a couple who might be my parents on the same day. More than anything I wish that I could meet you, but I don't have a choice. Maybe one day we will meet each other.

Your friend, Rey

~💌~

I sighed, my heart broke as I realized that I wouldn't get to meet her.

"What's wrong?" I heard my uncle ask.

I turned to see him standing in the doorway to my room.

"Nothing Uncle Luke," I answered.

He raised an eyebrow and gave me a doubtful look.

"Rey said that she can't come to the bookstore," I answered.

"Maybe she's just nervous."

I shook my head. "She has to meet her family on that day, it's all she's ever wanted."

"Well I'm glad that she will be reunited with her family. But I doubt that's all that she's ever wanted. You love her, you want to be with her and I'm sure that she wants to be with you too."

I sighed placing my head in my hands. "I do love her," I admitted for the first time to myself or anyone else. "But because I do I have to let her go, I want her to be happy. I want her to be with her family."
