Jacob sat with his back pressed against the trunk of an enormous elder tree watching the pixies as they playfully chased, teased and tormented the birds of the forest. The wind tugged and rustled his dark brown hair and he found himself wishing that it would take away his worries. But the air element had always been a temperamental being and picky about what and who it took away to its palace in the sky, but it made up for its trouble by bringing the many things to where they were needed most, it had after all brought him Alec, his animal familiar.

Jacob absently ran his fingers through the warm fur that covered the rabbit's body. The small animal turned its head to look up at him and Jacob felt its soft mind brush gently across his own as it sent its thoughts to him.

"You are worried, why?" Jacob gazed back at his friend and confidant before he sighed spoke aloud.

"A change is coming Alec, a change that will affect everything. I can feel it, but I don't know what to do."

Alec closed his tiny black eyes and Jacob could hear the echo of the wisdom of his past lives as he sent anther thought to Jacob.

"you will survive it then you will learn to thrive"

"But what if I don't?" 

Alec curled in to a fuzzy ball against Jacobs's stomach before he answered.

"Then you can take comfort in the few facts of our ever changing world, things will change, the sky is blue, the two moons will forever dance with our red sun." 

Jacob quietly pondered what his spirit brother had said until heard the call of his name and stood, with Alec in his arms, to face his future.
