Chapter Two: Not Quite the Most Fun Part, But it's Close
Y'see, cos you can't just start writing.
Please don't. I've done it so many times. And every time it just fades away into the corner, never to be seen again. It actually hurts me to not plan.
SO PLAN!
What I do is something like this:
That's the original plan for KNX Book one.
Ignore the eye-burning stickynote.
Of course, not everything happened the way I had planned it, but that's how things are gonna go. Write it in pencil if you're writing it in a journal. That way you can go back and erase it if need be.
It really is the fun part. At least, for me it is. The idea of creating a whole world all your own is just so appealing to me. And then getting that out there for the world to see is equally as exciting, if not more. Wait, I'm getting off topic...
Anyway, planning is just about the most important thing that could happen to your book besides actually writing it. If you sit down and take time to plan out your story, then you get to work on every little aspect and detail, place every nook and cranny, and set down every rock for your protagonist to turn over (that was really bad but okay). By that I mean, if you work on your story enough, that little seed of an idea that you had will grow and blossom as a young sapling. So get out there and PLAN!
