Writer's block remedies

A lot of people say that writer's block is a fake excuse, but it still happens all the same. Here's some ideas to help get you writing again, tested and proven effective by me (although everyone's different so they may not be as effective for you)

1. Shower
Just stand and there and think about your book. It's amazing what happens. Seriously.

2. Change some things up
If you're writing on a computer, switch to a notebook. If you write in a notebook, try typing. If you don't want to write in a notebook, try using a different program to write in, change the page color, or change the font. If you prefer to write in a notebook, use a different one or use a different pencil. Sit in a different spot than usual. A change gets your mind running.

3. Go outside
Get some fresh air, walk around and get that blood flowing again. Look around the scenery and try to describe it to reboot your creativity.

4. Talk to people
Really pay attention to the way they speak. Try to describe what's going on like it's a scene of a story in your head. Ask someone to tell a cool story.

5. Turn on some music
I have a playlist full of specific songs that remind me of my stories and characters. Those songs make me think about them.

6. Eat, drink and sleep
Often I wrote so long that I forget to keep myself hydrated (Oops). You're brain can't function if it doesn't have proper nutrients or you're tired. Keep your writing habits healthy.

7. Quotes
My tumblr feed is filled with tons of quotes, most of them super deep. Those deep thoughts really get me thinking.

8. Read
I can't stress this one enough!!!!!¡!!!¡!!! Get into the element. Read both other's writing and your own.

9. Pet a cat
I don't even know why this helps me but it does.

10. Draw
Just doodle. Draw stuff or characters from your writing, or whatever pops into your head. It'll either begin to inspire you and get your hands moving or you'll go "Wow, I'm such a horrible drawer, it's a good thing I'm at least a little decent at writing," and start writing again.

11. Take a break
If nothing works, sometimes you just need to step away from you're writing for a whole week. I often begin to over-think my stories. Take a breather. Let the chapter percolate.

So I'm interested, what do you guys do to help fight writer's block?
