diversity
There is something that I touched on before but I didn't really delve into it—diversity. First, you should be willing to include different cultures and people in your book(s)/stories. If you are, then great!
You get to your device, beginning to write about the whole array of characters with different personalities and cultures and you're excited! You go to type and—You have no idea where to start.
What if you misrepresent them? Would it be disrespectful if you included stereotypes? How can you write them well?
Number one: stop labeling. The first thing you should know is: they're people. Your characters are (should be, at least) three dimensional and have different aspects of their personality.
Of course, their background and the way they grew up will play a key into their tendencies, but using these characters to get diversity points and/or seeing them as just a/an (insert race) and using that to define their character entirely won't help. Above all else, they are people, like you, like me, and like pretty much everyone else on this site *shoves bots into the broom closet*.
Number two: research. Researching about where they're from is one of the best ways to build them realistically. Research about the place they grew up in, research their culture and all those necessary tidbits and stuff. Research people's personal experiences. Ask questions (respectfully). Go wild! Just try and get it as accurate as possible.
Three: there are so many different personalities of wattpad from everywhere all over the world. Don't be afraid to ask them questions! Just phrase it politely and have manners. Personally I'd be happy to answer because it's nice that you're willing to learn. (You can ask me questions about what goes on here if you'd like).
Four: there's a book that'll help you by projectpoc.
They have tons of chapters about personal experience and traditions and culture.
