[ 15 ] Unpublishing Books
Peeps, raise your hand if you've ever started a book that you just can't seem to complete?
- A book that you started out loving, but then lost vision / passion for.
- A book that you dread to update for because you haven't in ages.
I am more than guilty of falling under that wailing pit, and today, I want to spread a positive message.
DO NOT BE AFRAID TO UNPUBLISH A WORK.
If a book is making you miserable, you are under NO obligation to put yourself through a hard time to PLEASE OTHERS.
NO.
NO.
NO.
I can't tell you how many of my dear friends here on Wattpad have reminded me of just that, and it seems like just up until today -- I hit a plateau in which I wanted to pull a Britney Spears and snatch my own weave.
I am going to be 1000000% honest here and admit that for a while, I really didn't want to unpublish a few stories because of their views.
I know, it's stupid and materialistic, but I felt that way for a while.
I also sometimes feel this massive bond over a book, especially if it's an earlier work because it just documents my improvement, ya know?
Often times I'll get questions about whether someone should unpublish a book because it has no views, because they're upset with where they went with it, because of etc etc etc.
It's really all up to you, but all that I can say in the matter is this:
IF IT DOES NOT MAKE YOU HAPPY, UNPUBLISH IT.
Someone recently told me that it's, "easy" for me to do so because my audience is somewhat large and to that I say- IT DOESN'T MATTER.
It doesn't matter if you have 5, 500, or 1k followers ; if something isn't making you happy, don't tie yourself to it.
Cut ties with it and put all your energy into something that DOES make you want to write.
Way before I even hit this crazy amount of followers, I've unpublished MORE books than those I've completed.
Want proof?
Shout out to any of you if you remember these ancient works --
Unpublishing a book is NOT the end of the world.
You can always pick up on the idea whenever you're schedule is more clear.
As you can see, I never stop writing + there's more than a handful of stories / short stories that i've never even published.

I'd love to make this post so much more meaningful (but I'm still at work). I've only got a 15 minute break and this was bothering me so much that I just had to get it out real quick.
DO NOT BE AFRAID TO UNPUBLISH A BOOK IF IT DOES NOT MAKE YOU HAPPY!
It's really as simple as that.
Don't make stories up that it got deleted ( I'VE DONE THIS TOO AYE).
(except for that one time where it really did // karma got me good for lying around the first time).
Just tell your audience you lost passion for it and that should be more than enough.
SURROUND YOURSELF WITH WORKS THAT YOU LOVE,
DON'T PUT TOO MUCH ON YOUR PLATE LIKE I DO.
BE HAPPY!
I love you all oodles and oodles!
