Writing Tip Wednesday #4

Starting off a story can be very difficult, trust me I know. There are many ways you can do it. You can have us start with a character's inner thoughts, you can start with some sort of action scene right off the bat, ect..

One thing I like to do is first off know what my story is going to be about. The prologue always sets up a story, usually introduces the main characters (or at least the one whose pov it's in), so it's important to know at least a few chapters ahead before writing it.

Another thing I like to do is imagine this book was a movie. I'm writing a romantic comedy style book, how do typical rom com movies start? I'm writing a kind of edgy book, how do those movies start?

That may not work for everyone, but that's at least what I do and it helps me a bit. I hope this helps!
