Anything in (parentheses) was edited out and anything in [brackets] was edited in on the original paper. Now keep in mind, I was like 7 or 8, so if it has bad spelling or grammar I apologize. Anywho, please comment and enjoy my childhood fantasies!

On a cold, clear night, an owl hooted in a tree near the barn, and the horses inside shifted with unease as a mouse scuttled accross the floor.
"I'm going to catch you, Snowball," screeched a fluffy gray cat as she sprinted after the white mouse.
"Calm down, Sierra," one horse said as Snowball hid behind his large hooves. "You know Cora would be mad if you caught her pet mouse."
"Good point, Puma," a white mare nickered to the sleek black gelding. A small pair of heads appeared on either side of her, one white, one gold with a black muzzle, mane and ears.
A growl sounded at the entrance to the tall, wooden building. The cat screamed in alarm, jumping from shelf to shelf until she reached the rafters. A dangerous coyote known as The Creeper stood just inside the home of the Briarwood horses. He stalked slowly towards the mare's stall and stopped to look up at her dazzling white face.
"Moondancer, watch out!" A chesnut mare warned moments before the coyote jumped up onto the tack box beside Moondancer's stall door.
The sound of pawsteps faded into the distance as the cat raced past Crimson's stall toward the house. The Creeper paused for a moment, then jumped onto the narrow edge of the stall, balancing carefully on the narrow ledge. At the far end of the barn, a dark figure stepped out of the stall at the end of the row. Hoofbeats pounded down the aisle as a shadowy horse races toward Moondancer's stall. The dark figure emerged into the light, revealing itself as a golden stallion with a black mane, tail, ears, muzzle, and lower legs.
He reared up and screamed at the coyote, who nearly fell off the stall door as his hackles stood on end. Suddenly the barn door opened and a man of about 29 stepped in with Sierra on his heels.
In the man's hand was a bull whip, which he used to lash out at the coyote with a practiced hand. He struck swift and sure, and as the Creeper sprinted off into the sunrise, a rooster crowed from atop the chicken coop. The man dissappeared into the tack room and reappeared a moment later with a halter and lead rope in place of the bull whip.
He approached the stallion cautiously, aware of his temperment after the possibility of one of his mares and his foals being injured or even killed. Then he gently put the large halter on the stallion's head, and led him to the empty stall beside Moondancer's, knowing he would want to stay by her side until he was sure the danger was gone for good.
"Your foals and mares will be fine, Sun Shadow," the young man reassured the stallion before exiting the barn and heading towards the parking lot to greet visitors and daily riders.
"You can never be sure, Miles," Sun Shadow muttered under his breath as Miles walked away whistling.
"Oh, cheer up, will you? We're still here, you know," Moondancer said, sticking her head out her door and moving it in Sun Shadow's direction. The two horses rubbed two horses rubbed their velvety muzzles against each other.
"Well, well, what do we have here?" a sarcastic voice sounded from the door. "A couple of love birds, I see." A girl in polished boots and expensive [riding] clothes walked into the barn, her gloved hands holding a shiny leather crop.
"Leave them alone, Victoria." A boy wearing clothes for the average rider walked in.
"Why, hello, Jackson. Where's your girlfriend?" Victoria asked snottily.
"Aecounted for." A small girl stepped out from behind Jackson. "Now, if you wouldn't mind, leave our horses alone." Her tone was icy as she added, "Victoria."
Victoria sniffed. "Fine then." And she stalked off toward the tack room, nose in air. As soon as she returned with Puma's saddle (, saddle pad,) and bridle, Jackson entered, the [other] girl following close behind. While Victoria saddled up Puma, she muttered to him, "Just who does Audrey think she is?"
Audrey and Jackson returned, both carrying various items. Jackson was holding two saddles, while Audrey had two bridles, two [small] halters, and two lead ropes. She hung the halters and lead ropes on a hook, then exchanged a bridle for a saddle with Jackson. Then, Jackson tacked up Sun Shadow, while Audrey tacked up Moondancer. When they were finished, Audrey handed Moondancer's reins to Jackson and placed the halters on the foals and clipped on the lead ropes.
As Audrey led the foals to pasture, Jackson led Sun shadow and Moondancer to the outdoor arena. Victoria walked up leading Puma, soon followed by another girl with dark red hair leading Crimsom and Audrey, her light blond hair spilling over her shoulders. She took Moondancer's reins and took her into the arena, the other riders close behind.
Hours seemed to pass as the group waited for Miles to start their lesson. Finally a paint gelding loped into the arena, Miles on his back.
"Sorry I'm late. Urgent news from the boss. There's a new girl who'll be coming in a few days. Lessons are now a half hour instead of an hour. We'll be preparing for her arrival the rest of the time."
"Awww..." the riders chorused. The foals, watching from their pasture, nickered to their parents. Moondancer's ears twitched, but Sun Shadow didn't move.
As they began their lesson, Victoria whispered to the red-headed girl on Crimson, "Those foals are so bothersome, Zoe."
Zoe nodded, looking straight ahead. The group practiced jumping, and before they knew it, a half hour was up. They all headed back to the barn, untacking their horses. Audrey went and got the foals as well, bringing them inside. Once all the horses were untacked, they were groomed until they shined through and through. Next, of course, came the less desirable tasks of mucking and raking. Victoria and Zoe headed off to rake, while Jackson and Audrey mucked the stalls. Cora showed up soon after they began to help, for she had not been feeling well that morning.
When their chores were finally finished, The 5 young riders brought their horses out. Finally a 4x4 pick-up truck pulled up with a trailer designed for 5 horses behind it.
"All that for 1 horse?" Jackson whispered.
A girl wearing jeans, cowboy boots, a plaid shirt, and a [black] cowboy hat, jumped out of the passenger side of the truck. She ran around back to open the trailer. A man of about 18, in the same attire, jumped out of the driver's side door and ran around the back of the trailer to help the girl. He jumped up on the bumper and unlatched the door, pulling it down.
Miles walked up with his wife, Raaka, and his daughter, Mia. He leaned up against the fence with Mia next to him, watching as the boy took 3 foals from the trailer and led them a distance to lean on the fence next to Jackson with the foals' halters in one dark, muscled hand. The girl went in and grabbed a stallion by the halter, leading him out to the fence and tying him next to the boy, who hid the foals eyes as the girl went back in and took the halter of a mare in we gentle hand. She slowly led the wobbling mare down the ramp, bringing her up to the stallion, who comforted her gently.
Miles, of course, went to put away the horses, while the new riders introduced themselves.
"Hey y'all, I'm Jedidiah, and this is my sister Malia," the boy said. "You can call me Jedi though."
"You can call me Mal," Malia said.
"Great!" Cora said excitedly. "I want to know all about you guys!"
"Um, well I ride the broncs and Mal's a barrel racer. Our father used to own cattle, but we had to move to a stupid city," Jedi said.
