Sorrow And Ashes

Everything was still and quiet in the long standing palace as the setting sun shined upon it, illuminating its great towers in a warm glow.

Suddenly, the broad bells in the faithful watchtower rang a clear warning to those dining inside that danger was near. The blood thirsty dragon of legend was coming to bring destruction and terror to the innocent people living in the shadow of his great mountain home, filled with gold and gems beyond counting.

Jet black and scaly, the red eyed dragon let out a fear inducing roar that sent everyone fleeing. Monstrous flames as hot as the sun kept out from between his sword like teeth and devoured the city in fire. As quickly as he'd come, the terrifying dragon flew away with a beating of his powerful wings and one last cry of victory as he headed towards his next target.

Thick, dark smoke shrouded the sky and blocked out the evening sun, suffocating the anguished victims blindly escaping the desolation that once was their home.

The colossal, resolute turret, the last sentry of the palace, wailed as it perished. The palaces tall, proud tower nothing more than a memory of happier times.

It's gloomy and hopeless people watched from the protection of the sturdy trees as their beloved home fell, broken and burning and miserable. Sweat and ashes stained their faces as they sank into the embrace of the cold ground and sobbed, their tears mixing with the ashes covering the grass.

Clad in blackened armour, the young woman watched the massacre of her home. A single tear rolled down her pale cheek as she turned her gaze to the mountain. In her heart, a strong desire rose, a desire to seek vengeance on the dragon. Her long whipped behind her in the wind as she strode purposefully out of the forest. As she followed the old path towards the ominous mountain, the crackle of burning embers and the sound of pitiful sobbing drove her intrepid determination............

I moved this story to this book in case anyone was wondering.
