Short Story #1

A/N: This is going to be a Harry Potter fanfiction.

Terryn Stephens was by no means an extraordinary girl. She enjoyed thinking she was, however. She enjoyed pretending like a posh actress and a DJ. She enjoyed pretending like the characters from her books, enjoyed acting like a professor of the things she learned in textbooks. That's why, when one day, she got an interesting letter to teach her about witchcraft and wizardry, she jumped for the opportunity.

So, when September came along and Terryn was rumbling along the driveway with her bag, her smile wouldn't drop off of her face. Come to think of it, that smile had been plastered there the entire month since she got her letter.

"Terry!" her mum called over to her. "You forgot this!" she waved Terryn's owl next to her.

Terryn's mum had been very accepting of her being a witch. Her dad... Not so much. He hated having a witch ruining his line of "humans" so much that he refused to take her to the station. That is, until her mum made him. That didn't stop him from grumbling the way to the car.

Her mum had now walked over to stand beside her on the driveway. As she handed her tawny owl Heather over, she whispered "Don't mind him. He's just worried. He'll get over it soon. I'll make sure of it."

Terryn nodded, her smile never leaving her face. "Well, bye mum! See you at Christmas!"

Her dad slammed his car door and they were off to King's Cross Station. When they reached, her dad pulled her aside and said, "As much as I hate this, be careful. Witch or not, you're still my daughter." He turned and walked away.

Terryn's smile got even wider as she ran over to station 9. Well. There's a station 9 and a station 10. No station 9 and 3/4. Just a barrier. But, if I thought this through properly, and there really is a wizarding school... She put her hand on the brick wall and pushed lightly. Her hand went right through! She squealed quietly in joy.

She took a deep breath, stepped back, and ran at the brick wall, closing her eyes as she did. When she opened them, she was standing in front of a beautiful scarlet train, with tons of bustling students and parents alike. Taking her bags and owl, she ran at the train, stopping right in front of it.

She jumped aboard and pulled up her light bag quickly, then stepped back off to pick up Heather.

Terryn walked past the compartments until she found one that was empty. The last one that was empty, she thought.

She walked in and sat down. As she raised her eyes, she squeaked - there was a boy staring back at her. His brown eyes were slightly covered by his matching brown hair and his mouth was twisted up into a smile in reaction to her squeak.

"I'm guessing you thought nobody was in this compartment?" the boy said.

"Y-yeah," Terryn clutched her heaving chest, taking a few deep breaths.

The boy barked out a laugh. "I'm Kellin Louvre, but you can call me Kelly. All my friends do."

"Oh, so we're friends now?" Terryn was slightly calmer now, meaning she was slightly more sassy.

"Well, yes. Unless you'd like us to be arch enemies," Kelly said, quirking an eyebrow.

"So there's no in between. It's either friends or enemies with you?"

"Yes, pretty much."

Terryn shook her head. "Well. I'm Terryn Stephens."

"And I'm Moana Gordon!"

Terryn jumped in surprise, while Kelly just buried his face in his hands.

"Gordon, I swear to god."

"Sorry, Kelloodeloo," Moana smiled.

"What have I told you about calling me that?"

"That you love it 100 percent?" Moana asked, walking over and squeezing his cheeks.

Kelly grabbed her hands and pulled them away. "No."

"So I'm guessing you two know each other then?" Terryn smiled at them.

"Yeah. Unfortunately," Kelly sighed.

"Hmm. So will it be Kelana or Molly?"

"What are you talking about?" Kelly asked, massaging his forehead.

"Your ship name, duh," Terryn rolled her eyes.

"I like Kelana. It sounds exotic," Moana smiled.

"Ship name? What in the name of hell is that?"

"The name for two people as a couple. Kelloodeloo, have you been secretly living under a rock your entire life? Who's house was the one that I went to this summer? Have you been lying to me?" Moana turned away dramatically, placing her hand on her forehead and falling to the ground gracefully.

"Gordon."

"Louvre," Moana replied, standing up. "Isn't that what the museum place that has the Mona Lisa is called?"

"Yes, but you-" Kelly started to get upset.

"Okay, no lovers quarrels while Terry is in the room, please," Terryn walked over to Kelly and bumped his head back with her palm, before doing the same to Moana.

"Rude," Moana said, bumping her back.

"Moana?" a new voice came through the open door.

"DORY!" Moana ran to the girl standing in the doorway and jumped onto her.

"I literally saw you two minutes ago, what are you doing with your life?" the girl, Dory, shook her head in mock disapproval.

"But that's two whole minutes I spent away from you!"

"Did you... Did you just lick my shoulder?"

"You've known me for six years. Are you really surprised?" Moana nuzzled her head into Dory's neck.

Dory just sighed and gave in.

"Okay, who to ship? I want to ship Kelana, but Dorana is SO adorable!" Terryn mused.

"Why are you shipping random people?" Dory asked her.

"Because I want to. Hush."

"Well. Oh, hey Kelly!"

"Yund," he nodded in her direction.

She nodded but otherwise ignored him. "Okay, time to put you all in houses. Well, based off of what I know of you all, Kelly will be a Slytherin, Terryn and Momo will be Hufflepuffs, and I will be a Slytherin," Dory speculated.

They all nodded along, agreeing with this prediction.

Terryn opened her mouth to reply, but fell forward a bit as the train stopped.

"Here already?" she asked, looking out.

"Yeah, I guess so," Kelly replied.

The group walked out of the train and looked in awe at the building in front of them. It really was a castle, in all the senses of the word. It was giant, and surrounded by a forest. The building had a few bridges heading outside, and many greenhouses and huts littering the ground around it. It was beautiful!

"This is Hogwarts, huh?" Terryn asked to no one in particular.

"Yep. This is Hogwarts." Moana replied.

They all walked towards where the big hair man was calling out to first years.

"Get on a boat, the lot o' yeh," he smiled down.

"Hello! What's your name?" Moana called up.

"'Agrid," he smiled at her. "What abou' yeh?"

"I'm Moana. This is Terryn, Kellin, and Dory."

"Hello!" Terryn grinned.

"'Ello!" He smiled. "Well, ge' on a boat!"

The four of them climbed up into the nearest boat and sat in it silently, getting splashed by the sea every few moments.

When they reached the castle, a stern looking lady was standing at the door. She told Hagrid that she would take it from there, and introduced herself as Professor McGonagall.

"Hello!" Moana said, smiling.

"Hello," McGonagall said, her tight mouth loosening the slightest bit.

They walked in silence from there until they reached the Great Hall.

The entire Great Hall could hear the First Years gasp in unison.

"Whoa," Terryn sighed.

"'Whoa' is correct," Kelly replied.

McGonagall walked towards a stool in the front and placed an old, battered, hat on it. To everyone's surprise, it began singing. Once it was done, McGonagall began calling out names.

The first one from their group to go up was Moana.

"Gordon, Moana," McGonagall called.

She walked up without even an air of nervousness.

The second it touched her head, it yelled "GRYFFINDOR!"

Beside Terryn, Dory gasped.

The next one of them to go up was Kelly.

"Louvre, Kellin."

"HUFFLEPUFF!"

Many more names were called, then "Stephens, Terryn."

"RAVENCLAW!"

Dory was last. She walked up more nervously than all of them.

She took longer. She must have been up there for at least 3 minutes when the murmuring started. Finally,

"SLYTHERIN!"

A/N: Well, the ending was a bit weak, but whatever. If you decide to base something off of this, great! If you don't, I hope you enjoyed reading this!
Good luck! 💋
