school friends

A regular day, for Madeline Hoskins. She walks outside with her shimmery purple backpack slung across her back. She turns the corner to enter in the view of the school when her friend Flynn walks in front of her on his way to school also. He is an average height for a 16 year old, with shaggy dark brown hair that nearly reaches the top of his hazel eyes, he wore a navy blue baseball cap that day, along with blue jeans and a flannel shirt.
"Oh, sorry, Mads!" He apologized as he smiled, "I was too focused on where I was going, I guess."

Madeline shrugged it off and didn't seem to mind at all.

"Oh, that's fine! Accidents happen, see you later!" And they proceeded on their way to their different classes.

"Hi, Sophia!"

"Madeline! I was wondering where you were! You weren't answering my texts."

"Oh, blame my laziness for that, I forgot to recharge my phone last night, so the battery was dead. Sorry!"

"Oh, well that makes way more sense. For some reason I can't get it around my head that you sleep all the time."

"Well, at least I'm not the one that's holding their eyelids up during class, trying to stay awake." Madeline said with a smirk.

"Haha, very funny, Maddy." Sophie said mockingly, "But with all of that sleeping, you're going to miss out on the simple things in life, like interaction with your friends!"

"But I see you nearly every school day, and we hang out sometimes on Saturday."

"Oh whatever," Sophia said jokingly as she glanced at her watch, "We have to get to class now. I got in trouble last time with the teacher for coming in the room after she had said one sentence."

Madeline made a sleepy face and pulled up her eyelids to mock her friend as she walked backwards so Sophia could see her face. They both laughed and continued walking.

She was still walking backwards, watching her friend turn away into the classroom door, when she hit something with a thud and tumbled over onto her stomach, her hands catching her in time.

"Oof!"

As she got up from the cold, marble floor, and turned around she realized it hadn't been an object she hit, but a person!

"Oh my gosh! Flynn! I am so sorry. I wasn't watching where I was going this time."

He brushed his hair to the side with his hand and said back to her as he helped her up,

"Oh that's fine, people give me bruises and walk into me backwards all the time, I'm used to it."

Maddy stood up and brushed herself off and joked, "Oh, I'm sure.    Well, I better get going, thanks for being my wall."

Flynn smiled and started walking away, "no problem."
