When I made no intention of moving, I was roughly pulled off the pallet I slept on and two arms hooked around my own, dragging me along for the start of the morning routine.

"That's not my name."

"You have no say in that anymore. From now on, you will be whatever we say you are."

The experimental program is advertised as supposedly aiming to increase literacy and learnedness, and the character was coerced to join. By what or whom, and why? I guess you'll have to figure that out!
