So this is my Broadway revival, except it's not going to be as good as any Broadway show, not matter how bad (even Cats)

Buuuuuuuuuttt,
I'm not writing stories for your guys' entertainment. I'm going to try something new.
I've prepared a list of skills and themes, and I'm going to write a short story about each.
Then, I'm going to go away, learn techniques, develop those themes, come back, and rewrite the same plot with the same theme in a new way, to demonstrate my improvement.
So for example I might pick Angst. So I'd write an angsty short story, go away, learn how to write angst better, come back, rewrite it and see how I improve.
I'm not doing this because I want to entertain you guys, I'm doing this to become a better writer so maybe in the future I can be actually happy with what I write after two months when the initial release wears off and I look at it critically.
At least, that's the plan. Wish me luck.
