Rules
Okay, so there are a few rules that we need to go over before we start level one.
Genres: Any genre is accepted (Including Lgbt) EXCEPT fan fiction.
Here's why:
A) There will be songs that I am using as prompts that are from movies, video games, T.V shows, anime, etc. And it would be too easy to write a story based off of something like that. For example, if I were to use the song Suteki Da ne, you could easily write a TidusxYuna fic, heck you could even just rewrite the scene in the game from Kimahri's point of view. (Not that that wouldn't be awesome to read though.)
B) I prefer certain fandoms over others, and some I just really don't like. (*cough cough 1D, 5sos)
So it really isn't fair to y'all if I were judging fan fics. (All you would have to do is write Final fantasy or some other fandom I like....and like I said that just isn't fair.)
Keep it clean: Your story doesn't have to be g , it can be T for teens/Pg13 or whatever, but no M rated content. And please try to keep cussing at a minimum. (You can still use bad language....but unless it makes sense in the scene it will affect your ranking....if you're cussing just to make your character look cool....it's going to bring your ranking down.)
No whining: If you don't like your ranking, don't whine about it. You can try again as many times as you like, but I'm not going to change your ranking just because you didn't like it.
Retries: You can redo a level anytime you'd like, however you have to write a new story. Editing/re-writing the story you already submitted won't work.
Also you can't have two rankings at once, so if you write another story, your first story will not be ranked. (Also, I can't guarantee that the second story will have a higher ranking than then first. So keep that in mind.)
Be respectful: This goes not just for me as the judge, but also to everyone else in the competition. You might not always agree with someone on something, but try to be respectful of their opinions.
More importantly, respect yourself. You are a writer, and you are probably a much better one than you give yourself credit for. You are an amazing human being and you need to be respectful not just to others but to your own self. Being rude to someone else? That's disrespecting yourself just as much as the other person.
The most important rule: HAVE FUN!!! ^_~
Don't take this contest too seriously. Everybody's awesome and if you are having fun writing than you are the winner, and that has nothing to do with ranking.
Alright, so there is just one more thing I'll go over. This isn't a rule as much as a guideline.
Be original: Don't just rewrite the song in story form.
For example, if the prompt was the song "A-team" and I wrote a story about a girl Over dosing on drugs? That's probably not going to rank very high, because it's not really that original.
It's not that you couldn't write a story that has drugs in it...but expound on the song. Maybe write it in the perspective of the girls friends or family. Just do something to freshen up the idea.
Your story should be somewhat relevant, but ultimately, I'd rather your story be too irrelevant from the song than too unoriginal. That being said, if you like the story, if you would want to read it, than the chances are that it's pretty good. So don't stress out too much about how original it is.
That's all for now, I should have the first level up soon. Love y'all -Reibun
