Escape The Pet Store

Squeaking was heard throughout the pet store. "Silence little mouse." The large cat whispered as the two watched the humans leave the store. The mouse was her friend, however she was supposed to be her food. The store owners had dropped her in with the cat earlier that month but they quickly began to conspire an escape plan. Slipping out of a small hole in the enclosure the mouse, Macey, began to use her small paws to undo the latch. Once Cleo, the cat, was free the two began to open each one of the cages freeing their companions.

Cleo used her claws to open locks while Macey used her small paws to undo latches and open boxes. The two were an unstoppable pair. Cleo was beautiful, startling orange eyes and smokey grey fur while Macey had white fur with brown patches. Her tail was a soft pink and her eyes black.

The humans who ran the store were cruel, they didn't care if an animal was sick, didn't care if they were dying, they only cared to make a profit. Cleo had been there since she was a kitten, and Macey was born in the store to be food.

The commotion within the store was loud, the animals finally being able to converse with one another. Friends and family came together again after being separated by glass, plastic, and cardboard. Crickets chirped and frogs croaked. Snakes slithered across the floor looking for holes to exit, a few of the smarter creatures began to plan an escape for the fish who splashed in their tanks. Macey and Cleo took charge of the plans. Macey had found a way for them to escape through an employee only door, while Cleo helped carry fish into larger buckets with wheels. They usually had mops in them but the birds were helping to fill them with water. The intelligence was nothing humans had ever expected.

The dogs began to carry smaller animals out doggy doors that led right outside, they only opened to chips the dog collars had sewn in. While a few animals stayed behind fine with the treatment many others began to escape as well. The spiders finding exits through the ceilings.

Finally the fish were all in their buckets while the mice and rats worked on opening the employee exit. The fish were all salt water fish, and the ocean wasn't to far from the store, this store specialized in some more exotic creatures as well. The birds flapped around excitedly finally able to stretch their wings from their rusted cages.

As they began to cart everyone outside the door to the front door began to wiggle once again. The birds began to flutter ringing the bell to get Cleo and Macey's attention. The dogs helped get the fish to the ocean and Cleo watched as the door opened and one of the owners stepped in with a loud shout. The birds fluttered around his face as he tripped over a turtle tumbling to the ground. The door quickly slammed shut as his legs kicked it closed as he tried to smack away the birds. They were bombing him with random items from around the store.

He rolled over and began to crawl on all fours to attempt to escape the many animals. Cleo climbed on top of the cashier desk and jumped on top of his head clawing like a maniac. She wanted to give everyone the chance to escape that wanted too. Macey squeaked in panic seeing her friend attacking the store owner, the entire store was in shambles. Animals ran across the floor, food and other items were in disarray, the glass tanks shattered to a million small pieces.

The owner screamed as Cleo continued to claw and attack his face, drips of blood covered her claws and the floor. He rolled over attempting to stand when the largest macaw dropped a potted flower on his head. He fell back to the ground his phone flying across the store. Macey quickly followed it to see the owner had attempted to call nine one one however they didn't hit the call button. The many animals of the store cheered for Cleo and the macaw who saved the day. The store owner didn't know what hit him, he had left his wallet behind and only noticed when he went to pay for some beer. It had been a long day of work after all and he always calmed down with some beer and a horrid TV dinner.

The fish swam free finally back into their homes, many of them had been fished from the sea illegally by the stores owner and employees. Macey reunited with her family, those who had not been sold, or killed. Cleo quickly found Macey once again and snuggled up to her and licking her allowing her to leave with her family.

Macey and Cleo stayed close, however soon Cleo had a real loving family who cared for her. She was fed real cat food and given treats. She loved stretching out in front of the window to have the sun shine in on her, something she could have only dreamed of within the small cage she had grown up in. This was the life, and she soon found that the owner was selling hot dogs on the street after the stores closed down. She smiled one lazy afternoon watching the TV with her new owner, on the news was the store owner, his closed store and his statement about how the animals went crazy and left.

He said there was a crazy cat who clawed him nearly half to death, how the cat was helping all the other animals to escape. The police were attempting to bring him in for more questioning.

Cleo was proud to have that title, the Crazy Cat who saved the day.

She rolled over and closed her eyes to sleep, she felt her new family members hand petting her softly.
