Leo's POV
The sheep thing didn't react. But it looked like a Buffalo...
Suddenly, I remembered it's other name.
"Bison." I stated, tapping the sheep thing. It disappeared!
Stella's POV
We watched in astonishment as the creature completely disappeared. Eerily, we heard it's voice again once it was gone:
"I am gone for now. But this is not the end..."
We found ourselves on the floor, back at the camp we'd made before we had battled our fears.
There was a moments silence as we regathered our thoughts. We were back round the fireplace, and the fire had gone out, the embers glowing like tiny jewels.
"Should I relight it? It could be a long night." Leo communicated.
The sky was now a deep sapphire blue, but with no stars visible just yet. Briar huffed and ran over to the fire, brandishing a stick. She poked the fire with it. Nothing happened.
"Well that worked." She said sarcastically.
Suddenly, I heard a scraping.
"The rucksack! It's moving!" Coventina gasped.
We all looked behind us in astonishment.
The rucksack was shuffling along the floor quickly, making a heavy scraping noise.
"It's probably some creature, I'll kill it." Briar sighed, whipping out her dagger.
"No - don't!" Covie cried, probably thinking whatever was in there would be a cute creature, like a rabbit. I ran to stop Briar, but she'd already stabbed the bag.
But something happened.
"I can't get it out again!" Briar yelled, and the bag continued to move.
Acorus, Aquilo, Leo, Coventina,Teriana, Glacia and I ran over to help her heave the dagger out.
"Come on!" I cried "3...2..1. HEAVE!"
We heaved, and the fabric of the rucksack tore loudly. Out came a log at lighting speed, with the dagger still stabbed in it! Then, weirdly, the log flew through the air, with red sparks shining behind it, straight into the fire's embers! Briar screamed, and let go.
"Come on! First we defeat a weird creature, and now we get flying magical logs?!?" Leo complained to me.
"Let's see what this actually does first." I replied to him mentally.
There was a loud "Whumph!" Sound and the fire exploded into life. The fire sprouted ginormous, bonfire-sized flames. The red and white flames spiralled, getting faster and faster, until it was like a whirlpool. We all watched as the bag opened itself up, and the other log flew out into the fire, like the first log. The lighter followed it.
"Wait, that lighter is full of weird gold stuff - " I noticed, before everyone saw the lighter enter the flames.
The fire changed colour, becoming turquoise and gold. It crackled like a firework gone into overdrive, and the flames grew even taller and swirlier than before. The burning logs became taller and multiplied, floating in the flames before landing with a sound like a drum. Before long, the air was filled with these drumbeat sounds, each log landing in its own place. Finally, the last log landed, and we saw a hut-shaped building with a wide door frame, but no door. Through the gap, the flames went out, but the outside still burned viciously. We could see inside that there was now a staircase made of grass, leading underground.
I looked to my left and saw Leo picking up the torn black and green rucksack that still contained a few things.
"Come on, let's go in." He motioned to everyone.
"Are you sure this is safe?" Teriana asked nervously, staring at the ravaging flames.
"Yeah, sure." Glacia replied with a shrug. "Anything can be safer than fighting your greatest fears!"
"What was your greatest fear? We never heard about yours." Leo asked, curious.
Glacia looked at my twin and shrugged again.
"Nothing that couldn't be overcome." She answered mysteriously.
With that, we all entered the burning wooden hut, with me leading.
------------------
The stairs ended in a cold, damp cave tunnel. The air was damp, and I could see an earthy brown colour dimly in the badly lit corridor. I felt slimy, wet, mud under my fingers as I pressed my hand against the wall.
"What do we do? We can't see a thing down here!" Briar sulked.
Our answer came quickly, as all our orbs floated out of the places we were keeping them. They glowed brightly, chattering,
"Ooh! Let's have light here!"
The orbs giggled, and floated above us. The corridor was lit with rose-pink, sea-blue, glacier-white, purple, jungle-green, saffron-yellow, rose-red and amber light from our orbs.
Covie smiled happily as we walked along the tunnel curiously, wondering where it might lead us to.
Half-way through, I heard Leo yell,
"Ouch!"
I whipped round and saw he'd hit a stalactite. Now a red F-shaped mark had appeared on his forehead. The rest of us couldn't help but laugh, as he looked so funny!
"Haha. Maybe you should try walking into a stalactite yourself and see what you look like!" Leo responded to me in my mind.
"You'd laugh if it had been me!" I replied.
"That's true." My twin admitted.
Huh. My brothers are so nice to me!
A little further on, the tunnel opened out, into a large rounded chamber deep underground. We spread out and looked at the chamber. It was made of pink quartz, with a wet sandy floor. It was huge, bigger than a mansion, and there was a round circular shaped glowing blue rock in the centre of the room, with little black boulders situated around it like raisins around a cake. Each boulder had a small hole in it. Our orbs shimmered and zoomed into the boulders, and our names suddenly appeared on the boulders in silver engraved writing.
Taking the cue, we sat in our seats.
In the only corner of the chamber that wasn't rounded, a pile of strange glowing blue rocks collapsed. A creature extended a black-taloned, turquoise-scaled leg, and burst out of the pile.
Finally, a large, turquoise dragon stood before us. It was the size of a house. It opened its large, claw-edged, sea-blue wings, before refolding them and shaking it's long shimmering scaled neck, the feelers on its head dancing.
The dragon regarded us with sea-blue eyes as wild as a raging ocean and then spoke:
"Welcome to the Giant's typewriter." It's voice was as deep as the sea and coarse as sand, but flowed like a river. The dragon continued, "This cave is called that because each stalactite has a letter shape on it. If you bump into one, the stalactite will leave a mark on your skin."
We looked at Leo, and his F-shaped mark, and we laughed collectively, Leo included.
The dragon smiled and blinked slowly. It began to talk again:
"My name is Nordica, for I am a Sea-dragon from the Northern Islands, far from here. Stelliana knew of me as a hatchling, and we became friends, so when she got captured, I offered to help. She set me with this task - to give you these eggs."
A small cloud appeared in front of us, and Nordica roared ferociously, showing off her sharp teeth. The clouds disappeared, revealing an egg the size of a lantern. They glowed warmly like one too, and were all coloured a dazzling sky blue. I looked at Leo and my siblings, unsure of what to expect.
Nordica explained:
"Stelliana conjured these eggs herself, they are blue as I have kept them warm. Each egg will contain a creature intended for you alone, it could be anything. It may even be something you're frightened of, but it will not hurt you. These creatures will help you, along with your orbs, in the final battle. Your final battle and chance to save Stelliana will start very soon, in less than half a day so these eggs will now hatch."
The dragon blinked slowly again, moving closer to the table.
"I will be here to help you initially, then I will fly away before your final battle. Good luck." Nordica told us.
"What do you think will be in yours, Stella?" Leo asked me.
I had no idea. I knew my fear, I knew my family, but I didn't know what could possibly be in this egg. I drummed my fingers on the table, which was cold and rough.
There was a chipping noise, and a light crunching.
I looked down, and saw that my egg had begun to hatch.
